From start to finish this company was one of the best vendors we've worked with. Rick was extremely responsive and communicative, and was able to give a quote quickly based on details/photos shared via the Yelp request. No other vendors would quote us specifics without coming out onsite. We hired Rick's team to demo 1200 sq ft of nonstandard, reinforced, 6 inch thick concrete, a large 10 x 12 tuff shed, and a basketball pole. They scheduled the job promptly, showed up on time, kept the site clean every day, and finished in just a few days. Rick and Vini are great at customer service! They and Claudio and Neto were all very professional and all around a pleasure to work with. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Ok so some backstory here .. boy mama of "2 under 2" suffering from postpartum hair loss .. I was going thru the weirdest phase of hair growth and was so nervous to do anything drastic .. I also have super resistant hair when it comes to covering my grays -- only 2 colorists/stylists have successfully covered grays lol .. and to sweeten the deal, I have a very interesting texture; my hair is coarse, fine and wavy. Alas, I've officially found another who can handle my hair!! Joelle made sure I was comfortable with her game plan -- over a year later I still continue to sit in her chair. She treats my hair with such TLC and makes great recommendations for what my hair needs. I went blonde again for the summer and the integrity of my hair was still there, I was shook! I've had others fry my hair off or it turns out brassy as the weeks progress -- my hair never gets brassy with whatever products this salon has or whatever she uses. My grays grow also grow in gracefully and blend right into my color so it doesn't look like a hot mess. Hair is currently thriving and everyone always compliments my hair whenever Joelle does something different to it cuz it literally never looks bad AND it's growing! My hair has seen some terrible days before and it's been awhile since it's been this thick and healthy! So grateful for her!! Thank you, Joelle for always loving up on my hair!

Johnny did a wonderful job in achieving exactly what I wanted and delivered my desired results!
I had one of my best hair services experiences at Lola just recently. My stylist is Laura who was wonderful! She actually listened to what my (mid-term) vision was and executed perfectly and did a lovely job! So many stylists do what they want to so that you walk out with some type of look that they feel is a reflection on them, but it's the antithesis of being a good stylist that complies with the client's wishes. Requested style: I have a bit of a grown out pixie that I want to transition to a bob. The proportions are completely different, as are the lengths, so it will look transitional, but nice with some attention to styling until we get there. Laura did a great job of asking, listening and communicating the plan to gain my agreement and executed it beautifully.
Hair type: I have fine to medium hair that is naturally curly - not tight springy curls, but challenging for some nonetheless. She takes time to get a feel for everything and listen to you before diving in.

She has been cutting, coloring and styling my hair for years, and now cuts my daughter and son's hair as well. After a visit to her salon, I often get asked who cuts my hair or who colors my hair. She is very selective about the products she uses, so you can trust that they are safe, including the straightening/relaxing treatment she uses. She is genuine and caring. You should definitely go see Redd. Once you do, you won't go to anyone else.

The nail technician Imie is incredibly sweet. She took care of my ingrown toe nail extremely well! She was so gentle and methodical. This salon also uses the best non-toxic polish! Wonderful, clean salon, wonderful staff! I can understand why there is a long waitlist but I promise this place is worth the wait! Imie truly cares about her clientele! Forever thankful for how accommodating and kind she was so that I could go into my hiking trip as painlessly as possible!

the most reasonable prices for gel mani and pedicure in the neighborhood. they consistently do a great job from the last 2 years of going! the owner is a really hard worker and runs a small shop.. she is always good with quoting estimates wait times (i get really annoyed by this lol.. and she's always gives me real-time updates and options to book times so im never having to wait). you need to make sure you call in advance to book an apointment ideally and call before you go to see the wait time situation so you don't spend your time in the chair.
tldr - they are very transparent, go a great job, and have the best price in berkeley hands down for gel mani/pedi.

The Nail Suite is the best nail salon in the Bay Area! They have a healthy, safe environment for all of their staff and customers by not using shellac or acrylic for nails. (All their nail polish is ORGANIC) They have some very talented nail techs as well and everyone is kind! The location is also great for me and it's never hard to access. Not to mention, making an appointment is simple because they use the Square app. I just click a button every time I want a new appointment. I go to them for GelX & their Aprés GelX when I want longer nails. They actually last forever and do NOT damage my nails like acrylic. Again, staff is great and the spot is extremely clean! Got a basic pedicure from Elle to see how I liked the place. She was very sweet and did a very clean pedicure, plus a nice calf/foot massage. It seemed like all the techs I saw were very responsive to their guests’ requests. I like that the equipment they use makes it easier to truly sterilize everything between guests (basins vs. sinks, etc). I will be coming back for a gel mani soon!

I just got my hair done last night and I must tell you that I am extremely OVERJOYED and AMAZED by the EXCELLENT work that was done on my hair by Fatu and by the assistance of her daughter Thelma! Fatu was KIND, PATIENT, and PROFESSIONAL in a very down to earth way! I felt comfortable the moment I walked into the shop. I have never gotten my hair braided before with extensions so I was PRAYING that I picked the RIGHT shop and GOD answered my prayers! Fatu worked on my hair for 6 hours and over the course of that time her daughter Thelma (who is also very talented) assisted her. She too was very pleasant! Fatu was also VERY understanding of any reservations I might have had being as it was my first time getting my hair professionally braided.The price was VERY reasonable and EVERYONE that I saw in that shop yesterday left with their hair looking MAGNIFICENT!I came late afternoon so I presume these people had come much earlier. Marilyn is the most talented, skilled, badass haircutter I’ve ever had the good luck to meet, and I’ve been lucky finding great, skilled hair cutters since I was 16. She is a visionary savant. I had my first facial ever with Andrea today and it was wonderful! The space is so positive and peaceful. I assumed that facials were more for skin health and aesthetics but I was most impressed by how relaxing the whole experience was. I appreciated that the products used leaned natural but effective like manual honey treatments. Andrea was so gentle. I felt pampered and was still able to get gentle extraction with ultrasound technology (new to me) and I left feeling refreshed without any redness or irritation.

I have nothing but praise for Alexandra and will gladly come back. Her manner really puts you at ease. I was really nervous but her warm, inviting space and personality make for a calming experience. She is really fast and uses good technique and products. I have reactive skin and the irritation was very minimal with a fast recovery. She is also very responsive, we had to reschedule at the last minute and she was really accommodating.
I booked a same-day facial at Spa Orgánica and it was AMAZING! The location is great, the spa suite itself is quiet and relaxing, the products used were top notch and my skin looks incredible. I have been coming here for decades, even though I don't live that close anymore. I don't get a lot of services, but I swear by Vida's lash tint. I have also had waxing of various body parts in the past and everyone was great. The staff is pleasant and helpful. I've never had a problem with their online booking. For me, when a health or beauty business has been around for so long, it's proof they are doing something right, and it's easier to trust them with services you need done properly.

We recently had a drainage issue in our bathroom. Called them in the morning and received their response immediately. They said that they would be able to come to our house in the afternoon. They showed up on time and took care of our problem. They did the difficult task of working in a tight space in our basement. They were respectful in that they took off their shoes when entering our house. Their fee was reasonable. I would highly recommend this local business.

I called on three different plumbing companies to identify the root cause of a kitchen sink backup. The only company that delivered in a timely, informative, and actionable way was LJ Kruse. I had never used them before and was pleasantly surprised. Gabe explained the issue he identified in a non-condescending and accessible way, then obtained a detailed quote for me which I received by email quickly. I booked the appointment for the two day job, which involved dismantling a deck, removing pavers, breaking up concrete, and connecting the kitchen line to the main line. I then had multiple calendar conflicts and had to reschedule TWICE. Amber helped me both times and was incredibly gracious even though I was making things hard. Excellent customer service. When the timing got sorted, Gabe came out two days in a row to get the work done. He provided regular updates, safety precautions, photos of pre and post work he did underground, then put everything back together to make the area look spotless. Great experience start to finish.
We accidentally flushed a wipe and it backed up into a complicated plumbing system. Called Pelican and they found the culprit quickly using several approaches without taking apart our toilet. Could have been worse and they solved it quickly. Ozzy and his partner were great definitely recommend to anyone in an emergency situation.

I've been using Berkeley Electric since we moved to Berkeley and I can't say enough good things. The main office is helpful and responsive, the technicians are masters at their craft, and we've always been happy with their work. I recommended them to my brother who needed to replace his knob and tube system, and he similarly has great things to say.
Working with All Ground Electric was wonderful! They were fast, did high quality work, and were incredibly kind and professional. We hired them to add and remove some receptacles, and they gave an accurate upfront quote, as well as gave suggestions for different ways to do the project. Would highly recommend! Will definitely hire them again for any future electrician needs.

Very thorough and easy to contact for follow up appointments. We had the work done in preparation for selling our home. When the home inspector came (and went into the crawl space) he commented on how well the work was done, that it was sealed on both the inside and outside - as it should be- but that many companies don’t bother to do that. Having a 3 year guarantee to pass onto new owners is certainly a plus. I chose Alley Cst based on the great reviews and I was not disappointed !

Mathew found ways to incorporate and blend in pieces and plants I wanted to keep, and found clever ways to reuse some existing features (e.g. large rocks) that elevated the space. The crew that demoed and installed was notably careful, and detail-oriented. David and Troy have been coming by monthly for garden maintenance and doing an exceptionally meticulous job. The entire team's craft is admirable!
Over the last year, the plants in the garden have quadrupled in size, and almost every plant has blossomed a flower at one point in time. It's been a real delight.

We hired Planted Earth to completely renovate the landscaping around our house in Oakland. This included design, demolition, earth removal, hardscaping (multiple retaining walls), decking, planting, lighting, and irrigation.The results were spectacular and working with Mick, Ann, Manuel, Carlos, and the various crews was great. Mick and Ann were attentive and hands on during the design phase, incorporating our ideas with their experience and helping us to understand the full process. They are holistic in their approach, considering soil condition, native plants, irrigation and drainage, and fitting into the local environment. They are clear to present the pros and cons of various decisions and didn't try to sell us extra work at any point.The build phase went as smoothly as possible. Planted Earth tries to work with the same crews as much as possible, building strong relationships with talented professionals. Everyone was kind and conscientious, even when our dog tried to apprentice himself as a landscaper. They gave us advance notice when work could be disruptive (e.g. concrete pour) and tried to minimize the disruption as much as possible. We always felt like we knew what was happening and where we were in the process.Planted Earth continued to be available as the work wound down and the new plants took. Small issues with irrigation, questions about plant care, etc. were addressed promptly. We feel like we have a personal relationship with Mick et al. and have recommended Planted Earth to our neighbors. We wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone with a residential landscaping/hardscaping project!
Johnny and his crew did an excellent job on our backyard. They removed old concrete, and laid down new pavers, our yard looks beautiful!
Matt was very easy to work with, and made many useful suggestions about our project. It was to remove an old redwood deck that occupied most of our back yard, build some new redwood steps from one of our rear doors, build a balcony for the other door, and do some grading, hardscaping and improve the drainage. There were a few minor issues, but all of them were easy to resolve, and most were mentioned to me by Matt when he saw an unexpected problem. He was not the least expensive contractor we spoke with about this project, but his work was great. My one complaint is that his crew could be more careful with the landscaping they were not working on, but it was more an annoyance than any real damage. From all the contractors we have dealt with this summer, this was indeed a minor problem. I would use him again in the future.

A really wonderful dentist. I drive all the way to Berkeley from Sacramento to see them. I have a rare medical condition that has specific implications for dental health. They've been accommodating and proactive -- doing research where necessary to make sure that I'm getting the best care possible. I've also never had an attempt to upsell cosmetic work here; no discussion of whitening or veneers, both of which I had every dentist mention every single visit the whole time I lived in Los Angeles. Do I have to bill back to insurance? Yes. Have I ever had a problem with that? No. Ultimately, billing back to insurance (as others have mentioned in their reviews) is a very small tradeoff for me when compared with having a dental team that I trust.

Feels more like a visit to a Berkeley home of old friends vs.a sterile office.setting. Relaxed chill atmosphere that totally takes the stress out of going to the dentist. They stay on schedule, too, so I rarely get to read the magazines I enjoy, that are current issues, or have time for a cup of herbal tea.

I don't write reviews often but feel compelled to in this case. My family of four went to the same beloved dentist for almost 15 years. We had to switch because of issues with insurance which was hard as we really loved their practice and the people. We felt fortunate to get referred to Dr. Boeck's office and that they were able to take the four of us at the time we needed. But far more than that, I want to express my gratitude for who they are as a team and how they work. Charlene, the office manager is amazing, responsive and very supportive. I had a cleaning yesterday with Sarah, and I have to say, I am certain it was the best dental cleaning experience I have ever had--no exaggerating! I highly recommend this practice and am so grateful my family was able to find them and work with them.

I love the fact that they offer packages where you can buy 3 at a time, or more, and get a really good price on adjustments. Likewise with massages.

Dr. Ariel has magic in her hands! I started seeing Dr. Ariel in 2020 in the height of the pandemic while pregnant with our first ivf miracle baby. She took care of me throughout pregnancy, during which I’d walk into her office with all kinds of pain from my growing belly and my significant scoliosis and walk out literally free of pain with so much more mobility. I’ve gone to many other chiropractors over the years and there is NO ONE else like Dr. Ariel. She helped me prepare for birth and get baby in the optimal position. Most recently I’ve been seeing her after a late pregnancy loss and her work has been so healing physically but also emotionally. A few weeks ago my son woke up with raging ear pain and was screaming from pain all day until we walked into Dr. Ariel’s office. I left with a happy child free of ear pain and we even avoided antibiotics directly because of Dr. Ariel’s adjustments. She can really do it all. What a gift to be cared for and supported by her!!!

They were with us for the entirety of my labs 12 years from his first shots till being put to rest last August after cancer. They continue to care for our four-year old maltipoo, and our recently rescued one year-old pitbull. we are grateful to have such a strong team there for us when needed.
My dog was wounded. I got an appointment that morning. Vet tech was kind and gentle. Doctor cleaned and examined her wound. She was thorough and caring. I saw 4 other dogs come in that morning. People and animals were all calm, unafraid. The best experience I've had at a veterinarian. Doggy is back to her old self in 12 hours. This is my new vet!
We've consistently had a great experience with all of the staff, vet techs and veterinarians at Berkeley Dog and Cat Hospital. They've taken great care of our dog who has a rare and serious bleeding condition, both in the acute emergency as well as outpatient settings. For primary care we currently see Dr. Sirkis, who is great. Even though our dog's condition is very rare, she takes the time to research questions we have to give us an informed response.
I love Yoga Kula - every time I visit the Bay Area I make sure to take some classes here. This place oozes authenticity, inclusiveness and relaxation. The teachers are great and offer a varied selection of classes. I am so grateful that I came across this gem and long-time Berkeley yoga haven many years ago - I have never found a place quite like it. ????
After more than four years between classes, I was so happy to return to Heather's class in person! I was pleasantly surprised to find that Adeline has moved to a new, even better location, just a few doors up. This class was exactly what I need, and I especially appreciate the helpful title: "Continuing Beginner," that's me all right! September will be 9 years I've been practicing yoga, but (almost ) half of that has been (almost) entirely on Zoom so getting in-person adjustments is a welcome change. I come with the heart of a beginner. Thanks for the great class! This studio combines meditation and workout. Studio provides lots of variety of classes. There are excellent teachers there. Although not all are excellent in my view, of course. Yoga mat, blanket, blocks, straps , and tea are available for free. There are many sessions like sound healing, specific trainings, etc... apart from membership. This studio is large and has an open feeling to it due to windows and sunroof. The studio is elegant.
Amazing teachers and great vibe - very much recommended. Great value vs other gyms as well. I wasn't familiar with Bikram Yoga prior although I practiced many other forms of Yoga. The heated space really up levels the experience and I can totally let go and really engage with my body in a healthy way. Teacher's provide a great balance in which you're "pushed" only so far you're getting the best out of yourself including honoring you're own limits. Overall very much recommended!
The shala is beautiful, and the space is inspiring. I dropped in while in town. Vance was so welcoming, and offered assists and gave great pointers. I HIGHLY recommend this place for anyone visiting the east bay, or frankly anyone within driving distance. Worth the trip. Hope to be back soon!

Devin was recommended and I'm so glad I treated myself to a much needed healing package, not many massage therapists are as adept at working on scar tissue as Devin. I am an active sports person who periodically needs a muscle fix or work over. I stumbled on Ren after looking around for a knowledgeable practitioner. I was impressed with the way she listened, approached my issues & suggested solutions. After a session & a few days later I realized that she nailed the muscle group and I was on the path of recovery. I continued with more sessions & later incorporated an overall body work-up. I definitely would not hesitate using her again.

I reached out to Eli to treat myself to a birthday massage, and I was far from disappointed. Eli is warm, intuitive, and a skilled practitioner. He took care to make me comfortable and was very attentive when I shared about how my body is doing. The massage was all around wonderful... I cannot wait to book my next one!
Best ever. Wish I were still in Berkeley just to see April. I had chronic left side neck pain treated by many chiropractors with only slight improvement. One treatment with April and 80% improvement. She is authentic.

TL;DR: Tiffany Ai Lan Vo is smart, caring, and knowledgeable and her expertise essentially saved me. Lisa at reception is wonderful, helpful and reassuring and I look forward to seeing both these women every time I go in. More info in case this helps another woman: I was in a debilitating painful, dark, scary place for two months before I found PHRC and pelvic floor therapist, Tiffany. I cannot recommend her and PHRC enough. Not only did Tiffany listen to everything I had to say with compassion, respect and patience, she was able to diagnose my problem within minutes. Something my ob/gyn wasn't able to do for months and something supposed "specialist" Dr. Alexandra Haessler at Sutter Health (very dismissive doctor) wasn't able to do even though she somehow bears the qualifications of "urogynecologist". It wasn't just that I needed physical therapy, Tiffany was able to correctly diagnose something very medical that both these doctors missed! I'm putting this in the review in case some other woman out there is being told that it's neuropathic and/or that nothing is wrong by Dr. H or anyone else in spite of her symptoms and feels hopeless. It's not you! It's real. I wouldn't trust that diagnosis until you see a pelvic pain specialist like Tiffany. Unfortunately MDs in the Bay Area seem very in the dark about pelvic pain. Even after knowing what my medical diagnosis was and getting proper treatment for it (thanks to Tiffany) I'm still struggling to find a provider who is knowledgeable in it and its not for lack of trying. PHRC's entire mission and specialty is to help men and women with this type of thing and it shows and it is life changing.
Deena is a real healer. The combination of her impeccable knowledge of anatomy and how your body truly works with her experience and intentions to heal are truly wonderful and worth every moment and dollar spent.Often people work with a PT in emergency circumstances or recovering from an injury, but you may consider also working with her not in a time of crisis to improve your ergonomic relationship to whatever you do in your daily life and get tuned up! She’s wonderful and I can’t say enough good things, highly recommended.

I highly recommend SOL Physical Therapy in Berkeley on Fourth St. The facility is nice. I am working with Aaron and Damien. They are knowledgeable, understanding, listens to your concerns and recommends the appropriate therapy plan. I had hip replacement surgery and my recovery has been excellent under their guidance. My one comment is that it was hard to get in as quickly as I wanted and appointments are not always readily available. However, they make every attempt to accommodate your schedule.

I had never received acupuncture treatment prior to my first visit with Dr. Alison Winters, but after several months of treatment I cannot imagine going back! Alison is empathetic, kind, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. Her ability to focus on my physical and mental needs while providing excellent holistic service is truly remarkable. Ever since my first visit, I've been singing her praises to anybody with ailments that could benefit from Alison's care (so basically everybody I know). If you are on the fence about trying acupuncture or are considering switching to a new provider, go see Dr. A!
Quick review update July 2024: Love Ivy's new space in Berkeley and it's even more conveniently located with plenty of parking in a quiet area! It's so great the space has expanded services to include bodywork and workshops ! Definitely book your next massage with Rhea, she is intuitive, attentive, kind and I felt like she really curated our session to meet my body's needs in the exact spots that I didn't even realize I was holding in so much tension.

This review is long overdue. I saw Ivy back in 2022 over four months and she was an integral part of my healing. I initially went in to treat my chronic pain in my lower back and an acute knee injury, but I came out of the treatments renewed not only just physically, but also spiritually. Ivy’s holistic approach to healing taught me a wealth of knowledge. It allowed me to see health in a new perspective that my body isn’t just the muscles or ligaments of the pain source, but there’s an underlying energy source that needs to be addressed to. I've really felt the difference in my daily life especially during a difficult time of processing grief. I'm feeling more centered, balanced and present :) I would highly recommend Ivy, the attention and care she puts in cultivating an inviting atmosphere with her kindness is top notch.
I highly recommend Teo Potts, LAc. I began working with him less than 6 months into Covid after my excellent, longtime MD-acupuncturist retired and sold him his practice. I interviewed Teo by phone along with others, which was enough to recognize his special qualities of empathy, deep listening, and curiosity for learning with me how best to approach a recent diagnosis I’d received from my Western doctor with Chinese medicine. He’s helped me make a healing addition to my daily diet, added very helpful herbs to my supplements regimen, and deepen my self-care in physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual ways. In the four years since we started working together, I have not once doubted my choice.
A few months after making this shift for myself, I started bringing my then 93-yo aunt (for whom I was caring during the pandemic) every other week. Her trepidation quickly turned into enthusiastic anticipation, as her sessions offered both some relief from her complex health issues as well as the opportunity to be seen and embraced by Teo’s warmth, wisdom, and care. It was a precious healing connection during a uniquely challenging and disconnected time.

My first time back to BAP since 2019--and my first time at their Solano Ave location! I hurt my lower back on Friday at the gym and knew it needed attention. I'm so grateful BAP has hours on Sunday. Jorge is a wonderful acupuncturist: kind, attentive to my specific issue, and truly tailored the care to bring me relief. I left BAP feeling so much better and will be back again! Juliana is extremely generous with her time and an all-around lovely human. When you're with her you know that you're in the hands of someone who cares about you and your health and making you feel as good as possible. I always leave feeling relaxed and loose and like I'm ready to take on my week. I also love that Juliana really *hears* me when I tell her about something that doesn't feel right in my body. She trusts my own intuition and that's something I struggle to find in other venues.
