Launch
In 2019, we launched BestProsInTown and began gathering information about local hair salons, nail salons, beauty services, and spas in our communities. Our goal was simple: to help people quickly find useful details such as addresses, business hours, photos, customer reviews, and pricing information. What started in one neighborhood quickly expanded to nearby cities. By the end of the year, we had collected information about beauty and wellness businesses across the country.
AI & Fake Review Detection
As we used our own platform to search for local professionals, we realized that a high rating alone is not always enough to identify the best businesses. Ratings can be affected by fake reviews, inconsistent customer experiences, or missing context. From 2020, we focused on improving our quality model to better understand the strengths and weaknesses of each business. We also began developing AI-based tools to help detect suspicious review patterns and provide a more reliable picture of local service quality. These improvements became the foundation for our curated Best Pros In Town listings.
Growing Fast
Since 2022, BestProsInTown has been growing beyond its original focus on beauty and wellness. We now collect and organize information across a wide range of local service categories, including home services, pet care, automotive services, medical and healthcare providers, and legal professionals. Our goal is to make it easier for customers to compare local businesses, understand what makes each one stand out, and choose professionals they can feel confident contacting.

This award highlights businesses that consistently deliver strong customer experiences and earn trust within their local communities. Awarded businesses receive a Certificate of Excellence and a BestProsInTown badge, helping customers easily identify highly rated and trusted local professionals. Our awards program has already recognized businesses across the United States and Canada.

As AI search tools and large language models become more important in how people discover local businesses, we are working to make business profiles more useful, structured, and easier to understand. Our AI-optimized profiles are designed to help search systems better understand the real context behind each business — not just basic details like location and hours, but also customer sentiment, service quality, strengths, and common themes found in reviews.
