“This place is a treasure. I'm not a gym girl typically but it feels like I'm in my happy place when I go there. It's always nice and clean, the staff are exceptionally friendly. They have a very well stocked gym, group fitness sessions, 1-1 training and my favorite - recovery (yoga) on Tuesdays and Thursdays to unwind. It's low-key, friendly, not at all competitive. It's a safe haven.“

“I have been to many gyms in my life and have had 3 other personal trainers, and 9Round with Dave and Ovi is hands-down the best I have ever been to! I usually have a hard time motivating myself to go to the gym but I look forward to my 9Round workouts every week. When you enter, everyone greets you warmly. While you work out, trainers and other gym-goers cheer you on and motivate you. When you leave, you're congratulated on a great workout and walk out of the door with a smile on your face. It truly is a wonderful experience from start to finish. Be ready to work, though! 9Round provides a high intensity, full body workout. They also offer body mapping and consultation, which has helped me orient my workout and weight loss goals. Dave also provides me with tons of nutrition tips and challenges that have made a huge difference for me! I truly cannot say enough good things about this gym, so sign up already!“

He made it so easy to understand which workouts were needed and what my form should be, especially since that was something I always had difficulty with. For example, during my consultation session I was intro’d to another woman by name who was there for the first time.Highly recommend Julian as a Personal Trainer!!! He is thorough, compassionate and understands the body (he has a degree in kinesthesiology). He properly warms up his clients and talks them through the right way to do the exercises. He varies up the sessions so your body will get a good workout. Plus, he can talk and keep count - ha!Love the people and vibe here and highly recommend Strong Island Fitness for Personal Training as well as group classes.“

“Dr. Lin's semiprivate Muay Thai classes are a great experience. The studio is very well-maintained and clean, and he brings a great energy to instruction. What I mean by that is there's very little of the macho or overbearing energy that drove me away from martial arts after studying tae kwon do for 10 years when I was younger. The classes include a wide range of experience levels, and while he definitely challenges people to push their limits, it's never done in a demeaning or toxic way. Because of his additional knowledge in physical therapy, he's also very cognizant of limitations and dangers on the client's end and is accommodating to them. Lastly, he's great at communicating around scheduling and billing issues!“

“Anthony provides a friendly, non judgmental atmosphere to work out in and reach your personal fitness goals. He tailors the workout to your goals whatever they may be - weight loss, general fitness, gaining muscle, etc. Clientele includes a wide variety of ages and training experience from beginner to intermediate. Workouts are done in small batches of 3 people during each time slot - so no waiting for machines, and you get personalized attention from Anthony. Workouts are circuit style, and Anthony can also tailor them on the fly depending on your current needs. The session lasts between 30-45 mins. You feel accountable to Anthony and the peer group you train with, and everyone pushes and encourages everyone else to train hard. You will leave exhausted but happy. If you're having trouble committing to a regular gym schedule, this environment is very conducive to developing a good gym habit. The health, fitness and confidence you gain from this affects every aspect of your life, so the cost seems insignificant for the benefits you reap. Anthony offers a free workout session where you can try out 1 day, and it's a nice way to test if you like it. I can't recommend Anthony highly enough - this will change your life.“

“After injuring my shoulder shoveling snow while in the mountains during snowpocalyose last winter, I knew it was time to get my body back in shape. Enter, Bliss Fitness and Health! From the first Rebel Recess class that I took, I have never felt more comfortable (except for the burpees!!) or more welcomed into a fitness space. The teachers are fantastic; the space is gorgeous; and most importantly after every class I feel euphoric, strong, and, dare I say, filled with bliss.“

“TLDR: Fun classes, friendly community, zero ego environment, 5/5... go for it!As a runner for many years, pounding the pavement finally caught up with my joints and I needed to make a change to my routine. I dreaded signing up for a regular gym because it's just never been for me and always been a waste of money.I was really excited to discover F45 in my area as I simply don't have the time to design a wholistic workout routine, nor the motivation to stick to it on my own in a gym. If you can do that... bravo, but it ain't for me. Really all the thinking is taken out of it at F45, so your job is to just show up, do the work while listening to some loud music, fist bumps, and you're off to whatever else you got going.If you're on the fence.. seriously give it a shot. “I began training with Abu in 2022 however our work together was cut short by a family tragedy. I came to him in October of 2023 with a specific goal in mind. I needed to get fit for a week of skiing in Canada planned for the last week of January 2024. Prior to getting started, Abu patiently listened as I explained that I was prepared to push myself to get in maximum shape. He outlined a program of skiing related exercises, gradually increasing the intensity, to have me peak for my trip. The compact facility is well equipped. His ability to explain and illustrate movements is extraordinary. I feel he intuitively senses the fine line between asking me for more and recognizing when I have reached exhaustion. He gave me routines to do between sessions with a caution to "not overtrain". The last month included three weeks of high volume rotations (strength, balance, agility, speed, etc.). The final week we tapered to the finish. When I boarded the plane the next day, I knew I was ready. Abu is incredibly knowledgeable and can be a stern taskmaster when needed. He is also warm, funny and welcoming. Training With Abu is a great joy! I highly recommend his services to anyone; from a person reengaging with fitness to dedicated athletes looking to move up to the Next Level.“

“I have now been doing personal training with Sheena for 7 months. Let me share my results:-Lost 8% body fat-very noticeably looser clothes (especially around arms, butt and waist)- thinner face-Way better cardio health. I can now hike, bike and paddle again easily keeping up with my husband and teenage son- I am now a morning workout person which I love because it gives me more energy during the day and I just naturally drink more water and less coffee as a result-Less stressed. Regular exercise does help with stress mgmt.Sheena gives fantastic spin classes in addition to personal training.Best money I have ever spent on myself! Highly recommend!“

Really community oriented and they even have a non profit to provide free coaching to Oakland youth. Coach Jason and Pela and all the other trainers are knowledgeable and awesome to work with. “I started my time at Powerform after having my second daughter in April 2023. As someone who has typically engaged in Pilates, the idea of weightlifting was intriguing but intimidating. Max, the owner, was quick to respond to my online inquiry and was able to set me up with two trainers- Mikkie and John. He took time to chat with me about my goals. Shout out to Max for his excellent communication and thought processes for connecting you with particular trainers. John - within seconds, I immediately felt comfortable with John. He always lays out the groundwork for you so you know what to expect. His warmups always get me motivated for what's to come. I love that he is so encouraging and always keeps me on my counts during reps. John is extremely personable, and I truly enjoy our conversations. Mikkie- she has refined my squat game like no other and has pushed me to lift more than I ever expected to. She pushes me in the best way and always gives me opportunities to excel. I truly enjoy her style of training. As a mother of two young children, working out at Powerform has been transformative, to say the least. This has been my time out of the day for myself both mentally and physically. After many years of aimless workouts, I finally feel like I know how to spend my time to get the results I want.
