“A couple years ago, I had gotten some quotes for window replacement, but no one could seem to talk to me about the specifics of how the work would be done, trade offs between this window or that, what we should expect from the whole process --- basically the people that came out could only give a quote for some windows, not explain why, and that was it. “Wow, perfect experience with J&D Glass & Sash. They go above and beyond for their customers, and then some. This was just for a new bathroom mirror. I called last week, and Matt came the next day to measure. Mirror was done a few days later, and James came today to install. Both of them are amazing, and the answer to everything is "Yes, sure, no problem"! They were extremely accommodating about using the old wood frame for the new mirror. “Great work by Alan and team. The entire back side of the house had vinyl that was in bad shape in need of repair. Alan explained what my options were and my decision was to replace it with newer, more improved vinyl siding. I also had two windows that needed to be replaced, so we added that to the overall job. Alan's team was punctual and very thorough. They waterproofed the entire back side of the house, and the finished project looked great. They did a great job cleaning up after themselves as the old materials were messy. I'll be working with Alan again to replace windows in the front of the house as we head into the cooler months.“

“We broke a tempered glass window on our sailing catamaran a little over 4 years ago. We hired The Glass Man & Sons to replace it, and they did in November 2019. They did a nice job. However, this summer, the adhesive used in the installation had failed and the window became loose. I contacted them, and they were going to re-bed the glass with the same adhesives and process as before. After questioning this, I did a bit of research on the adhesive products, as well as obtained info from the boat builder. Both said to use different adhesive products from the same company. I passed this info on to them, and they dug into it like a junk yard dog. It was a very technical situation, with the type of glass requiring a different group of adhesives and processes. They were in contact with the adhesive company in Europe, and really tried to figure out the correct process for our sailboat. After much back and forth consultation with the adhesive company, I was amazed at how they stepped up and took ownership of the installation, even though it was four years later. They took it as an educational learning experience, and re-bedded the window. They told me that they recently successfully replaced the windshield in a Coast Guard ice breaker, but apparently did not do the right process on our little sailboat. Bottom line is they made it right, and everyone learned something in the process. Their stepping up is very commendable. I have to recommend them highly for any marine glass work. They know their stuff, or if not, they will strive to figure it out.“

Ivan's little shop of hand made wood products I believe, are some of the highest quality doors and windows you will find. They only use the highest quality unburled hard or softer woods, as well as seamless glass, which they will machine craft and form into just about any design you desire. After my decision to take them on, the ordering process was very simple and even though final delivery took a very long time, staying informed by them regularly really helped the time scoot by. The entire crew is extremely responsive and they still truly understand customer service like it use to be. “Love working with V&W. Paul came out and talked with us to help us choose better windows than what we had. He showed us samples of a few brands. We also went to their showroom in West Berkeley to see the full size windows. Gave us a quote for MIlgard energy efficient windows and a sliding patio door. Quote was very competitive compared to the Anderson and Pella windows we also got quoted. We ended up only ordering the sliding patio door, and will get the rest of the windows in the future, but Paul was happy to work with us on the smaller job. We got a formal quote, paid a deposit, and six weeks later (just as promised) the Milgard patio door showed up at V&W. Their installer, Damian, called to arrange a time to install, which he did this Wednesday. Damian was on time, friendly, and very professional. Highly recommend V&W. They are a locally owned company and offer high quality, great service and competitive pricing.“

“I've had several windows built here over the years. Each project has gone great... I got what was ordered.You need to understand this place is old school. There's a front office. They've heard what email is, but don't really use it. Bring a pencil and paper and be prepared to wait. But you watch the production processing chugging along right there. No computers. No CAD. Just wood, saws and various types of glass (including various glazing). Everything they build, they can repair (unlike modern plastic/metal/fiberglass creations which are disposable).“
