This was my first experience at Elevate. Wow! It was everything their website promised it would be. Rachel did not judge me or roll her eyes at what I had done to my hair. I walked in looking awful and walked out looking fantastic. I have very short hair, but she really took her time and gave it incredible texture. The atmosphere was great and the price reasonable.

Went to Nicky for a trial and styling for my wedding. She was so great at listening to what I wanted (even when I wasn't really sure what that was). When my wedding day arrived rainy, she rolled with the punches and changed the style up at the last minute. She was also great at incorporating a headpiece that held a lot of sentimental value, even when the combs were sewed on in the wrong direction. My hair held up so well to the rain and dancing. Would definitely recommend Nicky (and Anne Marie and Co) to any other brides or folks needing special occasion hair.
I have been going to Melissa for more years (decades) than I want to admit. She always comes through fixing whatever I've done to my hair. I would go to her regularly if I didn't live in another state. She's tames my natural curls and she's been giving me a mean silk press since the 90s. She's given me keratin treatments and relaxers and brought me back to natural. You won't find another stylist who cares about the health of your hair and what you want. She's not scissor happy. She's like family. She gives you one- on-one time and you're not waiting forever. Her teachings got my hair down my back and almost to my butt until I stopped getting those daggone trims. Why would I do that? Don't make the mistakes I've made. Stick with her if you can. If you're on a natural journey, she's your stylist. I can't say enough good things!! In the picture, she took me from a fade, uneven grow out to a 90s haircut. She didn't cut the fade, but she did get my style my natural tresses in a way that would grow out nicely. She knows me. She knows I am going to be back in due time asking for her to fix my hair again. I love her so much!!
Mariah helped to make my wedding day absolutely perfect! During our trial, she was sure to discuss my vision for my wedding day while also providing her own guidance and expertise on how to best achieve said vision. I LOVED my trial day hair, and somehow Mariah was able to make my wedding day hair even more perfect! All of my bridesmaids likewise were very impressed with her styling!

Previously, I tried to two different local salons advertising wavy/curly hair specialists, and left with straight, blown-out hair, despite being up front about not wanting a blow out or a radical change to my appearance. HairSmith doesn't force anything and I leave a better version of my hair self. Excellent, professional, talented folks.

I am so excited!!! I think Holly is a genius. She knew immediately what I wanted and needed. I have fine, thin, wavy hair and have been trying forever to force it into cuts that are sleek and just plain wrong for my hair type. She listened to what I wanted, which is to grow out my hair and stop coloring it, and she said "have you ever thought of embracing your wave/curls?" Honestly, no one has ever asked me that. I was absolutely thrilled with the cut and the curls that she showed me how to create. I have never been happier with my hair. She did not try to sell me expensive products, or try to have me come back more often than I needed since I want to grow it longer and let the color go back to natural. I love her and her studio is SO CUTE!!!

Came here for the first time a few days ago and really had a great haircut experience. Scott was great and conversational! He really likes his clients involved in their haircut which is why I came out of his shop with a great haircut! There was some great background music as well. It's been about 31 years now that I've been going to Larry to get groomed. This brother is extremely talented. Neither I nor my 3 sons have ever had a complaint about his work. Larry is a perfectionist when it comes to his craft. I'm thankful to have you in our community, brother!!! Many of you younger guys can learn from him. After all, he's not going to be cutting hair forever.

Good prices for their haircuts. I don't know of any other barbershop around town that can cut Dominican hair as good as Beni at this salon. I even went to Richmond (Dominican barbershop ) no good, this place does a really good job.

Absolutely love this place, I went here once on my way home from DC and they did such a nice job I wait to get my nails done until I can come up from where I live in Lynchburg (it’s a hour away I know that’s ridiculous but that’s how happy I’ve been with them) there very reasonably priced and they do the best job shaping my nails. They’re never chunky. Highly recommend
the service at this salon was excellent. i had rose for my technician and she made sure multiple times throughout my manicure that what she was doing was exactly what i wanted, and i'm extremely happy with the results! all the staff were friendly and efficient - i even arrived around 20 minutes before my appointment and they sat me as soon as i walked in. i will absolutely be returning!

Ventured up to this nail shop randomly after years, and they have new owners. The salon is very clean, and the husband / wife owners are extremely pleasant! My pedicure was amazing and and my manicure was exactly what i wanted. It's best to bring cash as they charge a 3 percent fee for card payments to cover the service charges. Neat, clean, and i got top-tier service. ? my new go-to salon.
My daughter and I came in for 10am pedicure appointments. They were packed with people but did a good job communicating that they would be with us soon and make sure they knew we had appointments. They sat my daughter first but got me back quickly beside her despite being extremely busy. They did a great job on our nails doing extra steps like a scrub in addition to the lotion and hot towels. We will be back!

I have been going to Lee's Nails for over a decade and time and time again I am always pleased with the work that Julie and her team provide. I travel 35 minutes one way to get my nails done with Lee's Nails. I don't trust anyone else with my nails because I know that they will always provide good services. They have very clean services and are very knowledgeable in safe manicuring and pedicuring techniques (using safe gel shellac curing lamps). I usually get Gel Shellac manicures which always last over 2 weeks and as a nurse I wash my hands and use hand sanitizer frequently so this is important to me. My most recent visits included a French manicure extension dip polish with added design with matching shellac gel french pedicure with design (just about $120 I believe with incredible results) and this lasted a significant time until I came in for a gel polish exchange. My toe nails still look great from 1.5 months ago. Then my most recent visit I just got shellac polish manicure (which was somewhere in the $40s I think?). So the prices are reasonable just depends what all you get. I often also come in with friends and family and can usually book for simultaneous pedicure + manicures with no problem. Love the team at Lee's Nails, highly recommend them to everyone I know.

I went to this shop for about a year...I chose this place because of feedback I received..my only reason for going was I wanted to start my hair growth journey..I was never a big fan of cutting my hair..even though I know it was needed for growth...I asked what needs to be done and what i could do at home ...if anything...I was told..so i agreed to continue on ..it was great in the begining...after some time i started to notice i hadn't seen any progress in my growth...which is when i decided it was best that I leave to figure out my own growth journey...don't get me wrong ...my hairstyles beautifully done.... everyone is so nice here,,I highly recommend going here,,,

I Came here to get brow rehab after a TERRIBLE experience at another wax place in Cville where I literally had 80% of my eyebrows removed … I was so nervous to try a new wax place but the atmosphere was so welcoming and I just knew they’d be able to help me. The estheticians see all the places in brows that need work and know exactly how to do your eyebrows so that they can look good while growing out.

I'm not one to typically review so I don't even know where to start. I've seen three people now at Stone Fox (Tatium, Tamara, and Jada) and have had a 5/5 experience with each one of them!!! Professional is the first word that comes to mind when I think about Stone Fox, thorough and kind are the next two. Each one went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable when trying services I've never done before (especially before my wedding which can be a stressful time) - they've taken the stress out of this for sure! I love that it's a one-stop-shop and there is no compromise in any quality for any service. They truly are the best. I went into this tattoo place to see if I could aument the light brown freckles I have and get a little Marilyn Monroe dot next to my nose. It was a wonderful experience. The aesthetic is very calm and elegant with an edge. The tattoo artist, and I guess the guy that owns the place is so nice and kind of attractive. He talked me off the ledge of getting a darker color that would have looked way less natural to one that fits my skin tone pretty perfectly. It was a great experience, super comfortable, clean, and the music was actually good. Highly recommend!

Had a great experience with my 2nd ear lobe piercings yesterday. Staff were welcoming and efficient. They approved and sanitized the earrings I'd brought - (although you can buy there if you prefer). The piercings are well placed and have been totally pain free. The whole process was hygienic and professional. This would be a good place for kids first piercings because of the effort they go to to ensure clients feel comfortable. Thanks so much, you guys are the best!

Just as the summer heat topped out, our A/C failed. Fitch was able to send someone out right away to diagnose a leaking coil. Jason, the lead technician, was pleasant, efficient and very understanding of the urgency of the situation. He was able to come back within two days to install the new coil. Expensive, but worth it!
There are no words that can describe the wonderful person/worker that James is! He's a a angel sent from Heaven! My 88 year old grandmother had an emergency after hours, and he went above and beyond to assist her with her toilet. I can not thank him enough!
AB has helped me out twice. They helped fix a burst pipe in our outdoor shed (Apr 2024), as well as replacing our upstairs toilet (Oct 2024) that had developed a constant water leak driving up our water bill. Both times Bill was sent out and each time we had excellent service. The people I spoke on the phone were also very pleasant and helpful. Would recommend them for normal or urgent calls.
Beck Cohen worked on our house several years for a major remodel and they are the only company we would call to help us with a recent water leak problem in the basement. Andy knew how to access and repair the leaking connections and we were really relieved to have the problem fixed. Can’t thank you all enough!
I will gladly recommend Rooter-Man to anybody needing septic services. Yesterday, Saleem and Julian arrived right on time and could not have been friendlier, more professional or concerned about doing their job as good as possible. The service, (emptying our septic tank), was efficient, thorough and very reasonably priced. They were thoughtful enough to carefully replace the grass divots and clean up leftover dirt. You almost couldn't tell they had been there. This experience was a good one and we will highly recommend Rooter-Man. Our sincere gratitude to these fine young men who any company would be proud to employ.
Darrell did a great job in repairing our hot water heater. He was professional, dependable and kept me informed throughout. Solutions Mechanical responded very quickly since we had no hot water, provided a solution to help in the interim while a valve was on order and installed the valve the same day it was received. Blue Ridge installed a new ductless HVAC system in my home last May 2021. They were my third estimate, and offered a great price which was installed within the month. I love the system. Its quiet, matches my decor, and is cheaper to run than the window AC units I had, and the wood and space heaters I used in the winter. I'm also appreciative of them because they installed a chimney liner and pipe along with new filter and shut off valve so I could run my Kuma oil stove for heat during power outages. I had gotten that stove brand new to replace an old one in 2014 and couldn't find anyone willing to hook it up for me so it sit for 8 years. One man didn't even know what it was. So now I can settle into old age and just hit a switch for heat and air. I loved everyone and everything at BRS from the ladies in the office, the office decor, the prices, the service, the promptness, the gents who installed everything, and their sales manager Randy. He and they made me feel special. Am also always impressed by anyone willing to go under my house into a low tight dark crawl space. Am probably going to get a whole home backup generator from them, too. My comfort is their business... Well I'm truly comforted. Based on my experience with them, I highly recommend them for your heating and air needs.

We had requested services from Maid Right for a one time clean and they were super easy to work with for scheduling. Transparent on prices and expectations! We have used Tidy Touch for 7+ years (formerly Ana's Cleaning). We absolutely recommend them to everyone we know. At one point 4 years ago we moved and switched services, that was a big mistake and we switched back to Tidy Touch. They are very professional, consistent and trustworthy. Communication is also great, should I need anything extra or if anything was accidentally missed (which is rare) we can text a picture, or communicate to them while they are there, and they will make it right. They also cleaned our windows, inside and out, for us this year and we were very happy!

Mr. Bryant is the best handyman in the town of Charlottesville! He has always been up front whether or not he can do a job. NOLA Build & Design helped us install slatwall, mount a large HD television, and wire and install a stereo system in our new store. I like to think our project took place during an interesting time of transition and growth for Commonwealth Contractors as a company. Our time with them spanned roughly a year as opposed to the shortened timeline we had originally anticipated. Our project was not without its frustrations. We experienced a lot of turnover to Luke & David's core staff, missteps in filing permits, and also a myriad of changes to the subcontractors they used and entrusted. I do believe a lot of these difficulties stem from the aftermath of COVID and all the challenges it presented to the industry. I also believe a lot was due to Luke & David not only rerouting their ship, but reshaping their organization as a whole.
Does that sound like a five star review?
Well, actually, yes. It is.
Because despite these challenges and setbacks, I still can't give Luke and David anything less than five stars because our house is absolutely stunning. There is not a person that sees it who does not comment on how absolutely beautiful the transformation was. They took my vision and made it everything I wanted and more!
Not only was the final product amazing, but Luke and David are wonderful to work with. They were so patient and thorough in communication, and I was always greeted with a friendly face. They also remedied any mistakes without hesitation. For example, one of the subs they used had installed the stair stringers and I was unhappy with several parts of the installation. Instead of just fixing the immediate issues and working with what they had, they instead ripped it all out and built it again from scratch (and the result was perfect). Any time something looked off or done not to their specifications, it was quickly rectified no matter how costly or time consuming a fix would be.
Our project was completed over a year ago, but just a few months back David came by to check in and saw one of the gutters had an issue that caused part of it to peel outward. He quickly had his team come out and replace the entire section for us.
Frustrations and setbacks on a project of this size is to be expected no matter who you hire, but I truly believe Luke and David have built a company that will deliver nothing less than world-class results. We will love and enjoy every inch of this beautiful home for many years to come, and it would not have been possible without them.

I had a bat problem but I don't anymore. Over the phone Clement diagnosed my issue and came by within a few days. He sealed my attic with wire mesh and got the bats out. Dodson came to my rescue a week ago when I had yellow jackets (and not just a few!) in our daughter’s bedroom. We have worked with Graham to complete three hardscaping/landscaping projects at our house and the Great Outdoors team has done an amazing job. We first did a patio in the backyard. Graham carefully considered what shape and size would best suit our needs and the space to blend with our existing landscaping. He suggested the inclusion of seating along the patio wall, and it has been so functional and looks great.
Our second project was a long set of stairs up a steep hill. Graham's team was able to source the exact stair I had in mind, and got the project done super fast.
Our most recent project was born from a desire to eradicate unused and high maintenance grass from our front yard, to create plantings with native plants and other drought-resistant species. The plan Graham created and installed is even prettier than I hoped and the plants are coming in beautifully.

100% recommend. Dr. Maybee is an absolute expert in his craft. I came to him after a very bad crown prep from another local dentist which left me with intense pain. I saw two endodontists both of which said I would likely need a root canal, one of which said my tooth was dying and would need pulled. Dr. Maybee encouraged me to have patience and allow it time to calm down and heal before jumping to root canal or pulling. Well it took a year to finally resolve the issue (I was not in pain this whole time) and tremendous patience on his part, but he absolutely SAVED my tooth and I now have a lovely crown on it and it’s still alive and healthy with blood flow to it. Dr. Maybee came highly recommended from a friend and I’m so glad I went to him. He has earned my trust and loyalty as a customer. His attention to detail, concern for doing what’s right rather than what is a quick fix or might make him more money, is what separates him from many other dentists in this day and age. He cares about his patients and doing what is right. His staff is also lovely and always make you feel welcome. I cannot express my gratitude enough for how he helped me. I had quite a few injuries going on and Dr. Adams has done an excellent job of fixing them and at the same time keeping my body doing well. My sweet cat Hades came to Monticello for some tooth extractions. Dr Anderson and Brittany were amazing!! They clearly studied his records to understand all that he's been through medically and were so kind to him. They provided excellent communication and I was comforted knowing he was in such good hands. Even the scheduler Shanah was great at getting everything in order to limit the stress on him for the procedure. This is a fantastic practice and Im so thankful for every one of them and the care they provide!!
Added a guinea to our family but the little fellow came with horrendous nails which I was a bit uncomfortable trying to trim, especially since they are dark and I couldn't see the quick. They scheduled him in a very timely mannerly and from the moment he and I stepped in the clinic door to leaving was less than 15 minutes. The fee for the trim? Ten dollars. I will certainly let them trim his nails rather than worry about hurting him!
Coming back to update because the folks here are really just so wonderful. Since our early visits my pup ended up needing five surgeries, four of which were done here (one required a specialist). Not only were the staff fantastic in vet care, they also helped me walk through options, get set up with the specialist, and provide great care whenever we are in town. We're sad to lose them when we move away from VA, but so appreciative and grateful - they even gave great tips on what to look out for in our new area! Cannot recommend their services enough, Sunday and I are beyond grateful for what they do.
So I unfortunately only became a part of the Old Dominion family recently when my cat became very ill and my gf brought him there for a second opinion. He had to be put down about two weeks later, obviously being very difficult decision for me to make. Let me tell you the professionalism, care, love, and thoughtfulness of the vet and the staff will make me never go anywhere else. They treated Jackson so well and were so supportive of me during this heartbreaking moment of my life. Just received a support letter today and it was not just some generic letter they send out. It was handwritten and signed by the entire staff and while it made me sad thinking about my buddy, the overwhelming compassion I felt was just what I needed. They even had taken paw prints and nose prints and included those for keepsakes, which meant the world to me. Old Dominion, be proud of what you represent, because you guys are amazing at what you do. Thank you for everything.
I can't say enough about how wonderful the people at Cat Care Clinic are! Everyone is always friendly when I call, and Stacy (Head Technician) is the absolute best! Whenever I email with one of my (many) questions, she writes back that day and is always knowledgeable, optimistic, and good-humored (despite the fact that my cat has been VERY badly behaved at her visits). She recently had surgery with Dr. Mahanes to remove a lump, and Stacy was with me every step of the way, answering all of my questions before surgery and checking in daily during recovery. It was a very stressful time, and Stacy made everything so much easier. She is truly committed and devoted to her work. As for the surgery, Dr. Mahanes did a wonderful job, and my cat is fine now. Knowing that I have both of these woman to count on during the life of my cat eases my mind and heart.

This office is really incredible, so professional and knowledgeable surgeons/vets. Dr. Rudd worked us in same day for a CT scan and surgery first thing the next day. Sadly our 10 year old sweet lab mix had aggressive cancer and only 2 weeks to live. But the phone calls from the doctor, visits and compassion were phenomenal.
Dr. Handley has taken care of all three of our dogs over the last 20+ years, a collie and 2 shelties. She is an amazing and kind vet. The whole practice is caring and top notch. Highly recommended.
We’ve been taking our family dogs to Samantha for close to (over??) a decade now and she’s just the BEST for poodle cuts! We have a maltipoo (pictured), a cavapoo, and a miniature labradoodle and after not so great experiences at two spots across town, I was SO glad to find Samantha. She treats our pups with extreme care, listens well to our concerns and cut preferences, and always produces cuts that grow out well!
She preserves their length when she can (ie when I don’t wait too long to take them in and hand over matted messes to her haha). Our pups get excited to see her and are always super happy when we pick them up - which is HUGE, because they’re anxious dogs!
Samantha’s drop off/pickup times are flexible, and her prices are in line with other groomers in the area! I highly recommend her!!!
Fantastic. Owner is wonderful. Exceptional grooming for all types of dogs!! and great place to board. Extremely knowledgeable staff and very detailed oriented. Safety is a complete priority. Highly recommend! Only place in town that grooms cats as well!
I’m from out of town and used NOWyoga for a bachelorette private class. It was a highlight of our trip and I would recommend to anyone looking for some personalized for a special event. Communication throughout the planning process was great. The price was very fair and included mat/props as well as a sweet flower. Our teacher, Lauren, really understood the assignment in terms of playlist and what we wanted out of the class. It’s a beautiful space and felt so special for the weekend. Thank you so much NOWyoga!

I spent a long time searching for a studio to continue my yoga practice in college, and I'm so glad I found FlyDog! I love the variety of classes that are offered and the atmosphere is so welcoming and positive! No matter your experience level or goals, there's something for everyone. All of the instructors are wonderful, and there's such a close, supportive sense of community!
Common Ground Healing Arts had been located in the Jefferson School on the second floor. For whatever reason they had to move out of their space. Among the services they offer is acupuncture on a sliding scale. Sam, one of the therapists has a magic touch. When he is finished with me I am so relaxed that I can hardly drive home. This nonprofit organization is one of the best in Charlottersville.
So great in every way. Possibly the best yoga studio I’ve visited in my life. Love to you all!
A great first experience at Posture Studio, trying Pilates for the first time. Lisa explained the principles and offered guidance in an enjoyable and engaging manner.There was plenty of opportunity for personal attention in the six-person class. In fact, Lisa tuned into a slight injury that I am recovering from without me bringing it up, and helped me accommodate.I appreciate how I could feel that so many muscle groups were activated, so my body felt all-around invigorated. At the same time as it was quite a gentle workout - at least for this initial experience. Looking forward to returning & learning more.

I have been attending Club Pilates in Charlottesville for 2 years . I'm giving this review as a client and a licensed physical therapist. This studio is highly professional, inspiring and fun! I cannot say enough superlatives about the manager Juanita Franke ! She is extremely professional, engaging , kind and generous . Her mastery in anatomy , physiology and exercise science is exemplary! I love attending her classes ! She explains the exercises so well and clearly , as well as the benefits and physiology of w he at she is doing . As a client and a PT every session with her is a party for me . The majority of the instructors at this studio are also highly professional , knowledgeable, motivational and engaging . Some newer instructors require more supervision and training in my opinion but as I said the vast majority of them are extremely qualified and well versed in exercise science and quite creative in their approach . Especially notable in addition to Juanita , are Chloe, Sofia and Wendy . Pilates is a great way to keep in shape in a very fun way . I hope I can continue this wonderful exercise modality forever and I highly recommend this studio in Charlottesville under the masterful management of Juanita Franke .

Absolute 5 stars, easily. I am very grateful for Maggie's work. I have been receiving regular bodywork from Maggie for about 9 months now and it has made a big difference in my health and well-being. I am a professional bodyworker myself and in that job my body takes a beating. Maggie's work is now a very important part of the regular upkeep I need to be well enough to help others. As a professional I am also extremely picky regarding who I let work on me. They not only have to be proficient, but even more importantly to me, I have to feel comfortable with them. Maggie makes me feel comfortable. I find it easy to relax and trust comes naturally with her. I am very glad I found her!
I have been going to Rita at Move Medical Massage for over a year. She is so skilled and knowledgeable about muscles, tendons and movement. Even before I could get into physical therapy she helped me tremendously. She has had suggestions for exercises which were helpful. I definitely can move better after she works on me. I highly recommend her.

Just saw Donna for my first massage at Tranquil Assuage. I've been getting massage for over 20 years, for overall general wellness in various areas of the country (having moved quite a bit). As a caregiver to children and a disabled family member, I endure a good amount of physical and emotional stress, and taking care of myself enables me to better care for others. Massage is something I like to incorporate regularly, but I hadn't gone for months due to time constraints, and was happy to find Tranquil Assuage near to where we live and work. The facility was simple, clean and calm, in the quaint Ivy area. Donna was knowledgeable, attuned and sensitive to my needs. She had competency in the muscular system and knew how to work out the tensest parts, and loosened my upper trapezoid and neck area. She also incorporated some good stretching of various muscular areas. Finally, I dozed off a little during the foot massage which was super relaxing. Greater movement improved immediately after the massage. Overall, I left feeling better, healthier, cared for, and ready to positively face my everyday challenges. I already booked my next appointment in a month and know I'll literally be in good hands there again.
Amanda is so easy to talk to and express your needs. She has an amazing personality and aura. You will feel comfortable and relaxed in her care.
