“I really like the atmosphere and the positive energy from the trainers. The one-on-one coaching has kept me motivated and consistent with my workouts. Though it's a smaller gym and can feel a bit crowded during the peak hours, it's never overwhelming. It feels a lot more friendly and communal compared to a big chain gym. It's also cool that multiple trainers know my name. I've worked with three of the trainers and I really like my current trainer Yoav. He's upbeat and knowledgable and is quick to adjust the program or provide coaching when something isn't working for my body. Personal training does cost a bit more, but it's nice to not have an added gym membership fee. I feel that it has been worth it for me because this is the most consistent I have ever been with a workout routine and I always come away feeling accomplished.“

“Sadly the pandemic closed down my long time hot yoga/Pilates studio. Not being the self-motivated type, I went from hardcore hot Pilates four times a week to NOTHING. As my body got visibly out of shape, I got depressed and couldn't muster enough motivation to change. Beginning of this year, after reaching my very peak weight (and lowest level of physical strength), I finally came to the realization that I have to do something about the situation. I tried a few studios and Rebel Rise hit all the marks for what I was looking for:1) Ease of commute and parking: The studio is located in Franklin Square, a small, quiet plaza in Santa Clara "downtown". It's easy to drive to and there are plenty of parking at the lot across the street.2) Small business: I truly appreciate a non-corporate/chain studio, without the the obnoxious headsets and/or take-themselves too seriously attitudes. The studio is well-rounded and down to earth. 3) Clean and orderly: This is a super clean facility. Owner Jenn provides plenty of heavenly smelling tea tree oil sanitizing sprays and wipes for students to wipe down mats, equipments, and blocks after use. For strength training classes, disinfectant wipes are used to wipe down weights and mats as students switch from one station to the next. The equipments are well-organized and varied. There are also mats you can borrow for the class if you forget yours. There's no shower but there is a changing room, as well as a water dispenser. Restrooms are shared with the rest plaza and kept very clean.4) Uncrowded classes: People are not jammed packed into a room. Strength training classes are 8 people max to ensure safety and distance while working out. I believe the yoga classes are maxed at 20. As a person who needs personal space/distance even prior to COVID, I very much enjoy not having people's feet right in front of my face while doing yoga. We don't have to park our mats in closely pre-marked spots either; I appreciate the freedom to choose my space.5) Friendly (not the unctuous kind) and supportive environment: Not only do the instructors greet you by name, all the students are welcoming and kind. I was very nervous about attending the first few classes, afraid that I wouldn't be able to keep up. The nerves were completely unnecessary. The longtime students were comforting and sweet, taking the time to learn my name and chitchat. It's not a competitive environment by any means. The classes are easy to adapt for beginners and you are not pressured to do more than what you are comfortable with.6) Variety of classes and schedule: There are 6 AM and 7 AM classes for those are enthusiastic about morning workouts. For people who are more time flexible, there are midday and early afternoon classes. Evening classes start at 5:15 PM and 6:15 PM. FYI, there are more classes offered than the schedule listed on the Rebel Rise website. Use the MINDBODY app to see HIIT classes, workshops, and special events (like free classes at Alo or Vuori). Coming from a hot Pilates background, I do chase a bit of physical difficulty challenge and favor the HIIT and strength classes. Yoga classes are great for stretch and balance practice in between. Due to past yoga related injuries, I appreciate that the yoga classes are not focused on crazy inversions and contortions. I do miss power yoga with a faster and continuous flow sometimes, but then again, HIIT is a decent substitute if you are looking for cardio and body resistance type of workout. About two weeks into the 3x a week one month trial membership, I signed up for unlimited monthly membership. Now two months in, I've gone from a complete couch potato to attending classes up to 5 times a week. It's not only because I enjoy the workouts, I also enjoy seeing my fellow classmates and the instructors. This is such a gem of a studio. I would encourage you to try it out if you are either looking to start or re-start a fitness habit.“

“Best workout I've had in years! I tried an XFIT class 6 months ago and I've been hooked ever since. I was a complete beginner, with no previous kickboxing or martial arts experience and the coaches were amazing at brining me up to speed. All of the coaches are great. I've spent the most time with Payam and he is one of the best coaches I've ever had for any sport. I love that I'm able to learn new techniques and get an amazing workout all in one class. The other students are incredibly encouraging and it's a really fun group to be a part of. I highly recommend trying a class, but be forewarned that you might become addicted.“

“What a memorable workout! I participated in a T10 session, which was definitely a full body challenge. The circuit was well-paced with both strength and cardio stations. Notable highlights were the rowing machines, SkiErgs, AssaultBikes, and barbells. All equipment, as well as the overall facility, was in pristine condition. I really appreciated the coach's energy, helpfulness, and immaculate music taste. I would highly recommend this class to all fitness levels as reps may be modified based on your abilities.“

“Grant Took Me to My Front Split Goal! I had a dream for over 20 years to reach the front split. I tried so many times to progress towards it and wrote countless new year resolutions to do that. Grant helped me to bring this dream to life. From our very first session, Grant set up the program which was tailored for my lifestyle, addressed my physical limitations but also empowered my mindset. He set up a program for me to follow, held me accountable and progressed the routine each week. Grant introduced me to techniques I haven't encountered before. “Update #2 -5 years in and still a happy camper.I have worked with 3 trainers over my 5 years and each has been excellent. I am now 75, and probably the oldest student. Today I had some strength training done at a doctor's and he commented on my awesome hamstring flexibity and overall strength. Asked if I was a dancer and said, "Well you should be." when I said no." When I got here 5 years ago, I couldn't stand on one foot for more than 5 seconds, and the idea of a plank had never entered my mind! Needless to say, I am a convert to weight training. Thanks 5:17, especially Helen and Jennette!Update: OK folks- it is several months later and I am still at it. I am in my early 70's, and am amazed how well this works. My strength is increasing monthly, my gait is strong, and it has even improved my concentration. I am able to maintain a healthy weight- always hard for me before! Well worth it both financially and in improved health.First review: I am new to the gym but am impressed with the approach Jeanette uses to engage me and assess my fitness. “Probably one of the best trainers I ever been to in San Jose. I’ve gone to many who never understood my fitness goals and Rojin broke it down from the diet to the plan of action and then even took the time to follow up with me on my off days to make sure I was sticking to our 4 month plan. She knows what she’s doing and she helped me gain a total of 16 pounds when my initial goal was 8. Doubled my weight. Quadrupled the time I would be in the gym, and the investment came back tenfold. I would 1000% recommend Rojin to anyone who’s looking to start there fitness journey or even pursue it and take it even more serious. “Keith is an extraordinary small business owner and really sets the bar high as far as personal trainers go. I have been working with Keith for years and I have really gone from someone who dreads weights to enjoying it and making it a regular part of my life.
