“Steve is absolutely THE BEST!I look forward to our sessions ( only with a little dread )I have been going to Steve for about 6 months now ( and don't plan on stopping ever) - my core strength has improved so much I never thought it was possible for me to do some of the things I do with ease now. A sweet side benefit is the chiseled looks Steve always keeps it challenging and fun.If you don't see many reviews, it's likely because people who get a spot with Steve keep it forever like me.“

“The gym is for tenants of PRC, so it's not public. You register on their website and sign in at the front each visit, but there's no limit to the number of visits. They have a good selection of equipment, with some free weights, several machines, and a range of cardio equipment. The hours are a bit limited, but it's still an extremely convenient gym.“

“I really like the atmosphere and the positive energy from the trainers. The one-on-one coaching has kept me motivated and consistent with my workouts. Though it's a smaller gym and can feel a bit crowded during the peak hours, it's never overwhelming. It feels a lot more friendly and communal compared to a big chain gym. It's also cool that multiple trainers know my name. I've worked with three of the trainers and I really like my current trainer Yoav. He's upbeat and knowledgable and is quick to adjust the program or provide coaching when something isn't working for my body. Personal training does cost a bit more, but it's nice to not have an added gym membership fee. I feel that it has been worth it for me because this is the most consistent I have ever been with a workout routine and I always come away feeling accomplished.“

“I highly recommend Queene for her work as a massage therapist. I have worked with her for two years, she helps manage any tweaks and prevent injury. As a late-40s regular lifter, consistency is key and Queene helps me stay in the game. I also appreciate her ability to explain techniques and the impact to anatomy.“

“I've been working out with Candy twice a week for 9 months now and I can't imagine going anywhere else! Her studio is clean and has all the equipment you could want. She has a max of 3 clients in the studio at one time, so you get all the attention you need. At first, I was a little nervous to work out with others (as opposed to 1:1 training) but now I love having the energy of others working out with me! Everyone is going at their own pace, doing their own exercises. She does sometimes have us do some sort of group planks while passing a ball around or such at the beginning or end of a session, and "games" a few times a year where everyone is doing the same circuit - but don't worry! If you need substitutions for any of the exercises, just talk to her! She'll make it work. While she won't coddle you, if you have any injuries or limitations, she'll work with you to find exercises that work for you. For example, I realized that exercises where I'm on the floor facing down (like planks), strain my neck and I get bad headaches. I mentioned it to Candy and now she has me do other types of exercises to accommodate that issue. At one point, I had severe tendonitis in both of my achilleas for 2 weeks or so, and she made sure I got a good workout while still healing. She knows what she's about and you're in good hands here.I've had a true 1:1 personal trainer before, and the workouts were no where near as good as the ones I get with Candy's 1:3 ratio. A good trainer doesn't need to stand by and count to 20 reps for you, they need to guide you and check your form. She's so organized - she knows exactly what everyone is doing at all times, and she spaces us all out so there's no bumping into anyone or waiting for equipment. Plus, it's fun to chat with folks after your workout! (Not too long, though - it's a gym, not a coffee house!)Final note - as a plus sized person (currently down 12 pounds thanks in part to Candy), there's no fatphobia here. You won't be judged or shamed by Candy or any of her other clients - Candy won't allow it! Your here to get strong and healthy - whatever that looks like for you!“

“I've been training with Lanthony for a little over nine months now and have seen an amazing transformation over that time span. This is my first time body building and hitting the gym regularly to lift weights. Lanthony made sure I understood the equipment, exercises and he played close attention to my form throughout. He was able to provide a challenging workout while working around existing injuries. Lanthony is bringing the energy, dedication and passion for his craft every session and is keeping me motivated throughout.“

“Probably one of the best trainers I ever been to in San Jose. I’ve gone to many who never understood my fitness goals and Rojin broke it down from the diet to the plan of action and then even took the time to follow up with me on my off days to make sure I was sticking to our 4 month plan. She knows what she’s doing and she helped me gain a total of 16 pounds when my initial goal was 8. Doubled my weight. Quadrupled the time I would be in the gym, and the investment came back tenfold. I would 1000% recommend Rojin to anyone who’s looking to start there fitness journey or even pursue it and take it even more serious. Beyond grateful for her, thank you so much always Rojin ????????“

“Esther is a great personal trainer and I am very happy to train with her. She is very kind and supportive. She pays really great detail to how the body is responding every workout and adapts as necessary which has kept me going. I have worked with many in the past and working with Esther has been truly transformative in my attitude to working out and seeing the difference in my body in a short period of time. I now look forward to working out!“

“I have been an athlete and a trainer. I've always been active and know the importance of staying healthy but as with many people, life took over and I let myself become more and more sedentary as I focused on other projects. I really needed a jump start and found that at Own It Fitness. Miguel, Taylor and the entire team could not have been kinder when I approached them about starting, and there was absolutely no judgement. Miguel sat down with me to discuss short and long term goals. They focus on the whole picture and help guide you as you set your goals. The semi-private training and one on one training is held in an inviting studio environment, and is thoughtfully personalized for each individual. Alberto (my trainer while I was there) is extremely patient and passionate about what he does. Whether you are a beginner or experienced with working out and training, the Own It Fitness team is amazing. They will support you in reaching your fitness goals while helping you find a way to fit it into your lifestyle.“

“Melanie Worthy has been wonderful to work with! I've struggled with bad headaches and neck pain for years due to muscle spasms around my shoulders. I'd tried working with a couple PTs and acupuncturists in the past, without seeing much change. But Melanie is trained in trigger point therapy (also known as dry needling), which is much more effective at addressing muscle spasms--and I've experienced a big reduction in tightness and pain after only a couple sessions. Thanks a lot Melanie!“

“Nye has been my personal trainer since January, 2020, and I have been enjoying her training very much whether in the gym or online. Due to the pandemic situation, we switched to the online training in March, and it has been working well. Nye has her own apps to track her clients’ progress, record videos for the post-training practices, and log daily diets for losing weight. She is very good at leveraging new technologies to improve the performance. The biggest strength in Nye’s training style is her creativity and resourcefulness. She is not the type of trainers who only know how to apply the fixed model on you. I start my gym training for the health reason and weight loss purpose, and then switch to something more like a hobby or dream - ice skating. She designed an off-ice training program for me, and after a few months of training, I found myself to be able to easily stand on an upside down Bosu ball to perform a Yoga Warrior III exercise. And my endurance also improved a lot because of the intensive training and regular homework she assigned. She has been training my balance and mobility performance mostly through online. The camera didn’t stop her noticing my body’s issues, and she always gave some specific exercises to tackle them before moving to the next goal.If you are into some kind of sports, I believe that Nye can definitely help training you. If you just want to lose weight or fix your body pains, she also owns many different knowledge and resources to achieve your goals in a more effective and easier way.“

“I waited a bit to write this review and, by a bit, two years. I hated working out. I would rather be reading books than have anything to do with workouts. My 30s were miserable. I used to get injured easily, and I had a back injury that made it difficult to work out. I had gastrointestinal issues that my doctors couldn't fix and advised me to live with them. Somewhere in my forties, I decided to get serious about my health. At only one point in my life, I made it past a couple of months of workouts, and that was with Jordan. I called him up and asked if he could help me. That was two years ago. This June, I complete two years of workouts with him. Without injuries! Gastro issues are gone based on dietary recommendations from him! I bounced back quickly from Covid and a few personal setbacks without health issues. I have more energy, strength than in my 30s. I remember telling my parents I felt like I was in my early twenties. The advice from my family is to keep going with Jordan! He is well-read. I like the insights about health issues. The banter in geopolitical matters is fun. He is empathetic. He brings humor to the table. What's not to like? In fact, I love Jordan! Thanks, Jordan, for the vast improvement in my health!“

“Adam is a terrific personnel trainer, always focused on my goals and well being. I started working with Adam 4 years ago after my daughter pointed out my impressive belly during a family vacation. As an engineer, I spend a lot of time sitting so I had back pain, poor posture, limited flexibility and a pot-belly on a 125 pound body. With 3 sessions a week, Adam has eliminted my pack pain, increased my shoulder mobility, greatly improved my posture and reduced my belly. I look forward to each workout session as Adam is always bringing new challenges to help me improve my strength and stability.“

“I have been training at this dojo for 12 years, and I can confidently say that Taekwondo has had a positive impact on my life. Through the life-applicable guidance of Master T and Master Fong's engaging lessons (along with Master Brian), I have learned a variety of techniques, and along with that, I've developed a persistent mindset. In addition to the art itself, I learned about the values that are essential to daily life. Even in my life outside this art (in school or other activity), I value the tenets of Taekwondo: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. I hope that I use these traits to become successful.I initially joined because my dad wanted me to learn self defense. I was hesitant at first, but now I realize that dedicating more than half my life to Taekwondo is a decision I will never regret.Thank you so much, Martial Arts America! I am honored to be a part of this wonderful community!“

“I've been going about 8 months, my first exposure to Tai Chi. The teachers seem to have a martial arts perspective, but even if you are not interested in that perspective (I'm not particularly) it gives a certain focus and emphasis to the teaching, and you can really see the layers of learning you can acquire if you stay with it. I have noticed not that many beginners make it all the way through (it takes 5-6 months continual attendance), but there are a core of experienced attendees, and any one of them can be your teacher on a night ... even if they aren't the designated teacher for the night they are happy to emport some of their "body wisdom".“
