Having never trained, I was initially pretty intimidated to sign up but after a year and some change of being a member, I can't stress enough how welcoming everyone has been (especially all the instructors). Lots of gi/no gi classes at different levels, so there's something for everyone. It's also a great place if you're just looking to get more active. I lost ~15 pounds within the first 6 months. “Going on my 4th week at Blk Box and really enjoying it. The energy level in the classes is great. I really like that they focus on form and ensuring that you are performing the exercises correctly, no cheating the movements for the sake of pushing a heavier weight. They are also good at adapting to any existing injuries or limits in mobility (while still pushing you!) I'm always impressed when a trainer can make a small dumbbell feel impossible to lift after a few good sets. The workout plans are awesome and really focus on good, functional strength and conditioning. Cant say enough good things about the team either. Ryan, Dez, Marco, and Ty really bring an amazing vibe and get you going even if you've had a rough day. Stoked to be a part of the Blk Box family!“

“The trainers at Crave fitness know so much about fixing pain or fit any the goals you want. My experience joining was easy and I'm so glad I joined, I now have no back pain. I didn't know that I didn't have to suffer anymore. It's an extremely positive atmosphere no matter who you are or what body type. Crave trainers make a custom workout for you. I workout with other motivational people, but we are all doing the exercises made individually to strengthen our bodies. And these exercises change daily. Or you can be one-on-one with a trainer. When I started, the trainer looked at my posture, flexibility and type of work I do. (I didn't even realize it, I was just stretching and she got all that information) This was incredible. She knew exactly how to help me. She slowly got me into the workouts. As time went on I was stronger all around and now my boyfriend comments on my body change and how much he loves it. I was in so much pain before I started working out there. Now I'm strong and so much happier. It's not like some commercial gym where they look at you as $$$$$$ signs. This is made to fit you and give you exactly what you need in a positive motivating way. I recommend this gym with stars.“

“This place is an absolute joke! They owe me money, I signed up and then tore my Meniscus before I even started over 4 years ago. I've been trying to get a refund ever since. Matt, who I've been in contact with won't call, email, text me back. Even have shown up several times only to find the place closed. Matt promised back in April he would finally take care of it. I emailed the charges and he never got back to me. Don't waste your money. They are corrupt!!“

“I’ve had Michelle as my trainer and I couldn’t rave more about her knowledge as a personal trainer and her attention to detail on how she caters to her client. There are not many gyms in Newport that empower people to be strong and confident in building strength. If you want to experience a trainer that builds you up and helps you meet your goals- go see this gym! It’s extremely disappointing to see 1-star reviews that have no substance, experiences, and complaining about a dog being present.“

“I have to leave a review for my favorite place to go during the week.A small preface, I sustained a back injury from weightlifting in 2016 and had surgery in 2019 to relieve the pain of the disc bulge that had left me sidelined. Got back into weightlifting this year, April of 2023.I reached out to Barrett around July to help ensure my form was good and I was training properly. Although squats and deadlifts are never to be part of my regiment again, Barrett still helps me find ways to get the full body workout in every week, while avoiding any strain on my lower back.The atmosphere is very welcoming every time you walk in. There's no thinking involved when you arrive, because Barrett (and Natalie!) has everything ready to go for your full hour.If you're on the fence about joining, stop thinking about it and just do it!“

“I instantly felt welcomed by all the coaches and athletes upon stepping foot inside the gym! The workouts are very hard and challenging. I cannot do the prescribed weights in the workouts; however Lee and Rob (coaches/owners) are accommodating about showing modifications and they prioritize safety over anything else. There's a huge sense of community which keeps me going back! I love that there are clean rags and spray bottles to wipe down our own equipment. The coaches even scrub the floor with a commercial scrubber every day.“

“Group fitness training that's 100% personalized but without the expensive personal training price tag. I'm so thankful I found Diane, she has challenged me, made me stronger and I never get bored her workouts, they are always different! You are in a small group setting but Diane modifies each persons weight amount, intensity or a modified version for any injury you are rehabbing. She watches everyone intently corrects form, or adds weight to push you if she sees you are ready. Once I got pregnant she completely modified a version of the group workout for me each session. She ensures I am avoiding movements that are dangerous, that I wear a heart rate monitor to watch my HR and she also adds in things that will help prep me for delivery. I have been able to keep working out into 3rd trimester and hope she can keep me getting healthy movement in as long as possible!“

“I've been coming to Fitness Authority for 7 years. What a great gym. It's got a "family" kind of vibe to it. The environment is outstanding and it's light years away from the sterile 'corporate' feeling of the big gyms. The owner, Bernie, is fabulous. He takes the time to talk/chat, offer advice, and constantly check to make sure you're doing well. You simply will not find a better place to train. I'm incredibly fortunate I found this place and I have no plans to leave. Ever.“

“Been working with Richard for some time now (though when he is gone, I've worked with everyone else - and they are all amazing). Not only did I lose over 60lbs in the beginning, but when I started to put some weight back on when life threw me some curve balls, Richard did a fantastic job not making me feel guilty and would help me shave it right back off. He (and all the other trainers) is easy to talk to, definitely knows his stuff regarding fitness, and I actually don't dread going to work out like I always have in the past. Would highly recommend. The trainers there are awesome, and it's a great price for what you get.“
