“We have gone to NCAH for 42 years, even after we moved out of the neighborhood in Chicago. Now, we have relocated to Arizona, so we need to use another vet. We were well served in our 42 years, with 5 cats and 4 dogs, with compassionate and expert care. We celebrated new kittens and puppies with their initial exams, and sadly said goodbye to some beloved companions with the loving care of these wonderful doctors. While we loved all the vets, we especially want to point to Dr. Castillo and Dr. Locher, who were always there for us. “Companion Animal has been the best thing to happen to my elderly cat. When my previous vet office closed due to retirement, I was nervous about moving my 19 year old cat (Sal) to new care. She had already been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and kidney disease and we were juggling multiple medications to keep her going. However she needed a new vet and Companion Animal is close by my new place.

I was nervous taking my not-very-friendly-to-strangers cat to Companion Animal, however Sal liked the staff from the get go. They were able to get bloodwork from her without all the usual drama and Sal liked our new vet Dr. Kung. I also liked Dr Kung as she patiently took time to walk through Sal's history with me and to plan ahead for any warning signs of one of the diseases progressing further.

About a year after our initial visit, my cat Sal got very sick. It happened over a weekend, so on Sunday I ended up taking her to the ER, where we had an awful experience. She had to stay overnight at the ER on an IV at an eye watering cost. The ER requested that she stay for 2 more days, but my husband and I agreed we couldn't pay the thousands of dollars more the ER was requested for care. As a hail mary we asked the ER to call Companion Animal to see if they could take Sal in for the day as they provide cat medical boarding. Considering we were newish patients and our vet was out on vacation for the week, we weren't holding out hope.

To our surprise, Companion Animal agreed to take Sal in for the day. We bundled our very sick fur baby up and drove her over from the ER for an additional day of IV fluids. She was still so sick when we dropped her off, that we didn't have much hope of her making a comeback. We dropped Sal off with Anna, one of the head technicians, for the day and said a prayer.

When we picked her up Monday evening the change in Sal was so apparent. She was back to her inquisitive self and alert. Not only was Sal fluids looking better, but Anna even got Sal to eat some food - Anna sacrificed a chicken taco from her lunch to Sal!

Over the next 6 months Companion Animal did an incredible job working with us as we administered hospice care to Sal. From Dr. Kung, Dr. Moser, Anna and the rest of the amazing staff - we felt supported and cared for every step of the way. We would pick Sal up from visits to find our notoriously standoff-ish cat snuggling with Anna or some of the other staff members. Once Sal jumped on Anna's shoulders and had a little tour of the facility from the high view point :)

When Sal finally burned through all of her 9 lives, Companion Animal connected us with an at-home euthanasia provider (Lap of Love) who did an incredible job during the final moments. Sal had a rewarding last 6 months of her life and in the end a very peaceful passing.

I don't know how we got so lucky as to find the incredible staff at Companion Animal! I would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat. I know I'll be back in time when I adopt another pet.“

“My dog is selective with food and other animals so I'm always anxious to take him to any vet clinic. The people there are very understanding of that and whenever I've gone, I feel like they treat my dog with kindness and genuine care. I feel very comfortable talking to the vet and we create a plan that's more collaborative.“

“Dr. Lim and Megan are so knowledgeable and caring with my 15 year old minpin. They gave me a few different options with estimates for my dog's cataracts and glaucoma. I've had 4 different visits with them and they have all been helpful for my difficult situation. Tim has been a Rockstar and totally made my last visit the best! I would recommend them to my friends and family. Also, Claudia up front makes the appointment and check in and out process so easy and pleasant. “Dr. Chris is a wonderful Vet he is very straight forward when speaking with me which I appreciate. He looked at our 10-year-old Golden Retriever and 6-Month-old Golden Retrievers as individual dogs, then breed, then their lifestyle he then made a plan for the best overall treatment for both dogs including vaccines. I know that my dogs are in wonderful hands not only with Dr. Chris but his awesome staff.“

“Dr. Young and his staff are the greatest! He has been my dog’s vet for over one year and thoroughly checks him during each visit. He always gets some sort of sickness and the doctor heals him right away! Whether it’s his allergies or a virus, Dr. Young will explain a step by step process of what I need to do! “Higgins has been taking care of my dog since I moved to Chicago about 10 years ago. One thing that is consistent about Higgins is the care is consistent. I know what to expect at his yearly check ins, things to be cognizant of as my guy gets a bit older. One of the things I appreciate most though is if I have an urgent question or concern, the staff will happily talk to me over the phone and advise if I should bring my dog in or treat with home remedy. My only "negative" is the cost of care tends to be a bit steep but at the same time, I know my dog is being well taken care of. I'd recommend the Higgins animal clinic team.“
