Auto-Ness Physical Therapy - Scripps Ranch Physical Therapists

“Needed to find a Physical Therapist my daughter would go to. I found Auto-Ness when I was working out at Orange Theory. Made an appointment for consultation with both my Daughter and myself. Their facility has a very quaint and at home feel. Their focus on personal care is amazing. We both work with Dr. Grayson his attention to detail from the time the appointment starts till it ends is amazing. Madison’s last PT experience was to just show up and do exercises. She did not work one on one with the therapist looking at the issue she was just sent off to do exercises. I just signed us both up for our second set of sessions with Dr. Grayson to help Madi maintain what she’s been working on. I strongly recommend checking Auto-Ness out for your PT needs. It’s a friendly family atmosphere that puts your needs first. Thank you Dr. Grayson for listening to Madi and taking care of her so she can enjoy all her different activities.“

“I had terrible neck and shoulder pain, I've been weight training for multiple years and Brazilian jiujitsu for a few years and I'm always in some sort of pain. To top it off I'm a personal trainer and still couldn't figure it out. I saw a chiropractor and it helped but not as much as what Naomi did. She took the time to assess the problem and get a proper diagnosis. Naomi pinpointed the problem to the upper back and scapular retraction. After the first session I was in immediate relief, and felt more upright with significantly less tension. I highly recommend to this to athletes and non athletes alike, her space has a full set up with access to workout equipment. Naomi confirmed the appointment the day of and before and I left there with a new understanding of how the body works, and it goes to show you that it's all about the basics.“

“Daniel is awesome! He takes the time to explain every exercise in detail. The benefit and what part of the body the exercise helps. He is personable and does not hand you off to someone else to do the work. That was very important to me.“

“Let me start off with saying that the reason for my visits were because of a worker's comp injury. Long story short, I sprained my ankle pretty bad. Growing up, I have had previous ankle injuries before, but this time around, I couldn't walk. The inflammation alone was so bad that a boot couldn't properly fit on my foot without there being pain. Thankfully, I was able to take time off and I was able to slowly progress into full duty work. The doctor treating me put in a referral for physicaly therapy shortly after my first visit because he said that takes time for the service to be approved. For me, it took about a month. My first appointment was scheduled for me, but I was called to confirm a week in advance, and I was even offered an early appointment, if I wanted. I obviously took it, and when I went to the office, I was greeted with a smile and a good morning. My physical therapist was Dr. Brent Petre. He was very pleasant. He knew how to make conversation, and he was very clear, and obviously super knowledgeable, about what he noticed and any questions I had regarding the injury and how that impacted other parts of my body. On a expertise level, I appreciated the muscle connections that were made and the manner in which they were explained. On a customer service level, I appreciated that Dr. Brent would ask about my day, and that he would remember things that I told him during our small talk. Being a local, he had suggestions and opinions regarding topics we discussed, and it was cool to hear him talk about his own experiences of things he and his family enjoy. That being said, some sessions, I was tired and I didn't want to talk because it was early, and that silence was respected. It was never awkward, and I never felt uncomfortable, which is a big deal. During my first session, I did some basic movements so that we could get a baseline of where I was. After the assessment was completed, Dr. Brent explained to me what he saw using simple words. I'm not sure if that was intentional, but as someone who works in social work and has to engage with multiple populations and ages, I really appreciated that consideration of patients. There is an ease that comes with simplicity, and not everyone knows the formal language or has an extensive knowledge of the body. I somewhat understand the terminology because I have some background in sports and injuries, but that's not everyone's experience. When someone is hurt and is new to seeing a medical professional whose specialty is the body, it's nice when there's a clear explination of what's going on. It's nice when the words that are used to make sense of the injury aren't complicated. I never felt like I was being looked down upon or that I was being judged for getting hurt, and I felt like I was listened to when I pointed out where and how I felt pain. Each session I had was an hour long. The start of each session was a massage. After that, different exercises were explained and modeled to me. Corrections during the exercises were made as needed, and the weight being lifted was adjusted when it was appropriate. I was shown different exercises that I could do at home, and was given a band to take home to use between sessions. At the end, I was able to get my foot iced for 10-15 minutes. Scheduling out all my approved appointments was super easy, and because of the large availability of this location, I had options regarding when I could go that aligned with my job. There's also parking outside the building that is accessible to the public. I do wish that I could have continued to get physical therapy because it is extemely helpful to have someone guide and explain to you what can be done to improve overall mobility and flexibility. I am sad that I never had the opportunity to do physical therapy before, but I am glad that my first experience was positive. If you have the opportunity to choose a location for physical therapy, I would recommend here. The team is very kind and they seem to care about the patients th“

“Linda Anne is amazing. I was referred to her by Jaime Schwartz MD because she is so experienced, knowledgeable, and skilled -- and he was right. She has been treating me for close to two years. She is very warm, listens attentively, and cares a great deal about her clients. It is obvious that she is devoted to her profession, and to learning more about lipedema and lymphedema, because she is always excited to talk about what she just learned. She is eager to share her knowledge about nutrition and supplements for these conditions, which she obviously studies very carefully -- but only if you are interested in hearing about it. She is also a very knowledgeable, experienced aromatherapist. At my request, she has prepared a couple of essential oil mixtures for me (for sleep and migraine headaches) which have been very helpful - especially the one for sleep.

I was also extremely pleased with Shanaz, whom I have seen a few times. Aside from being such a competent lipedema massage therapist, she is a lovely, warm, soft-spoken person who immediately put me at ease during my first appointment. She seems to be very much attuned to what her clients need. Based on conversations I had with her during my treatments, she is also very knowledgeable, and is eager to learn more about lipedema so she can better serve her clients.

Yesterday, I saw Erika for the first time for an acupuncture treatment. I have had acupuncture treatments before, so I knew what to expect. Erika is also very warm and immediately put me at ease. It was obvious that she had thoroughly read my patient questionnaire before my visit because she was already prepared with a couple of options, based on what I wrote about being allergic to adhesive. Although I hadn't scheduled the visit to address my headaches, I had a headache when I arrived. She immediately agreed to include that treatment in my session, and also included some very effective hands-on massage on my neck and shoulders. No more headache! I have already scheduled my next visit with her.

I should add that all of the therapists who have treated me at this spa have been careful to give me what seem to be realistic descriptions of what I should expect to gain from the treatments. I truly appreciate that because I refuse to work with practitioners who try to lead me on with false promises.

The spa is located fifty miles from my home, but the commute is worth it. :)“

“I have been treated at Physical Therapy Effect by Mark Shulman, and his staff since last September, in follow up to having both knees replaced surgically. The entire experience here has been great, from the help with insurance and scheduling treatment, to the relaxed and casual atmosphere. Besides getting first rate attention during each appointment, I've been given the exercise program that I have to follow on my own, to complete my recovery. The input for my therapy has been a combined effort of Mark, other staff members and myself. I appreciate the effort of all, to help me on this long journey of healing.“
