1200 Gough St, San Francisco“Healthwell PT Rafaela is a knowledgeable, kind and physical therapist. I went in for rotator cuff pain which flared up whenever I moved my arms in certain positions. Rafaela showed me several exercises I could do to strengthen the area around it. Once I started doing the exercises regularly, the pain went away, however if I slacked off, back it came.
Rafaela also helped my knee pain. She watched my walk down the stairs which caused the pain and figured out how I could alter my walk in such a way that the pain wouldn't flare up. She always gave me several exercises I could choose from. At each visit, she would review the exercises with me and ask me which ones worked for me. My shoulders and knees are much happier now that I know how to keep them moving without pain. I highly recommend Rafaela and the PT staff at Healthwell.“

2650 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley“Rob Lin is an exceptional physical therapist. Rob and his entire team are patient and welcoming, and his 1-on-1 work is phenomenal. If you have the option, I cannot recommend The Technique enough. I knew when I signed up that working with him would be an investment, and it is one I am so glad I made.
I came in with an injury that I have been struggling with for 4 months. I had been seeing another PT but I had repeated setbacks during my recovery. I was in consistent pain and I wasn’t improving.
In 3 weeks or so, Rob has gotten me to a place where I can function again and even push my physical limits. He is kind, reassuring, and his hands-on work has consistently made an obvious impact. Immediately after getting off the table, I feel less pain and improved stability that last. His work on me has allowed me to push further during session and during at-home exercises, which he’s tailored based on my feedback.
TLDR: I’ve already recommended Rob and The Technique PT to friends struggling with injuries and would urge anyone to book a free in-person consultation. Rob is amazing and I look forward to every session. I can’t thank him and his team enough.

2345 Broadway, Oakland“I couldn't be more happier picking Emily for my PT needs. I came to her after doing PT from other locations, but I didn't feel my wrist was any better for climbing. - Flexible on scheduling, I saw her five times every 3-4 weeks, with a focus on home exercises, which was exactly what I was looking for (and I graduated when we both felt it was time). Note that her exercises targeted my wrist issues more closely than the generic ones I've been given from insurance covered PT and online sources - She was very familiar with my body type, as she worked with dancers and paid close attention to my hypermobility - Even though I went to her for my wrist, we were also simultaneously able to work on my right shoulder rotator cuff (which I completely forgot about) and my left ankle. Other PTs (at least with insurance) wouldn't provide this level of attention. - Able to climb while rehabbing! She provided a very specific climbing regimen, which was fantastic for accountability - Looked over climbing videos and helped correct my form (since climbing caused my injuries in the first place) In three months, I am back to projecting again, and she has given me a solid foundation to continue my climbing and non climbing goals. I wish I had seen her first, would have saved me six months of time. Highly recommend Emily, especially if any of the above resonated with you.“

460 Boulevard Way #2d, Oakland“My experience at Renew Physical Therapy was fantastic, and having “graduated” from my visits a month ago, it’s clear to me that my back problems have subdued and are in the most controlled state they’ve been in years.
I was paired with Josh who I trusted almost immediately, and after a few sessions it was clear he was a good match for me and great PT in general. He was able to be almost casual or informal, while being professional at the same time. He took the time to get to know me and my issues, and his knowledge about the subject was evident. I was impressed and will be forever thankful.
The facility administrators were also great. I incorrectly documented one of my appointments and ended up accidentally no-showing, but instead of getting annoyed or charging a fee, they worked with me to reschedule quickly and efficiently. They were kind and personable, and I also really liked how quickly they responded to text messages.
It may not seem like a big deal but it was also convenient that there were always parking options outside too.
I would strongly recommend this business. And while I hope I don’t have a reason to go back, it’s comforting knowing they’re close by.“

1080 Monroe St Ste 110, Albany“I look forward to my session every week because I feel so much better afterwards. It keeps me aligned and aware of what's going on with my body. The staff are helpful, good at what they do, and friendly. My stress level comes way down. The facility in Napa is pleasant, spa-like and peaceful. If you have AARP/United Healthcare Medicare supplemental insurance you can get 4 stretch sessions a month through Renew Active, their wellness program, at no charge. One of the better perks of getting older! I want to thank Aryaveer, Etni and Bella at the reception desk for taking such good care of me!“

916 San Pablo Ave, Albany“Dr. Cohen & the team at Innate has genuinely saved my life! If I could give ten stars, I would. I have Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), and I could not ask for a better chiropractor. I have tried many practitioners who could barely keep me walking, and Dr. Cohen was able to get me out of support braces, stuck in bed most days in pain, and now I am dancing on my feet again! He is not only an excellent chiropractor, but also an incredibly kind, empathetic, and caring person who treats my chronic full-body condition with a gentle, effective, mind-body-spirit approach. The combination of chiropractic, PDTR, NET, and everything else that Dr. Cohen uses has been so effective. The other practitioners I have seen, Dr. Jen, Dr. Furda, Kenny Givens (massage therapist), and Michael Huff (orthobionomy) are all also very excellent, knowledgeable, and kind. Kenny Givens is my favorite medical massage therapist and I always come out of my appointments feeling better! The front desk staff is fantastic as well, Randi especially is so sweet and helpful. I recommend Innate to literally everyone I know, especially my friends with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome & other chronic conditions. Thank you so much to everyone at Innate for significantly improving my quality of life!“

403 49th St suite a, Oakland“Amy and Iris are the two PT's that I've seen at Back to Life Physical Therapy; they both are very knowledgable, and thorough in their explanations and guidance. In addition to their abundant knowledge in the specific area of pelvic floor, the extra care and time they put in to really listen, understand and then instruct me have been what distinguishes them in the field of physical therapists. I have improved since starting to work with them (a year ago). The office is kept clean and neat, and is full of natural wood, natural light, and includes a library of pertinent material. Colleena, the receptionist/office manager, is a wonderful and personable and efficient part of the team. I highly recommend this practice.“

5625 Columbia Ave, Richmond“I’ve worked with Dr Jess on several injuries related to long distance running: knees, feet, and ankles. She has always been able to help me get back to the sports I love quickly. In 2019 I had to take 10 months off of running due to injuries. Nothing I could find online was working for me and it didn’t get better with rest. I saw Dr Jess in early 2020 and she helped me identify and treat my IT band syndrome. I finished the year with over 1k miles and by 2022 achieved a long standing goal of mine to run a trail 50k in under 5 hours. What I like most about her approach is that she really teaches you how to improve form, strength, and flexibility on your own with exercises that I found easy to follow after the sessions.I will definitely see Dr Jess again if I have problems in the future.“

“I have had eight sessions with Joe at Hayama Osteo-Therapy, and I cannot adequately express my gratitude for his expertise, wisdom, and gentle care. My issues have never felt like quick fixes, and yet I feel great progress. The pain throughout my body and the cramping in my feet are gone. I have had a lot of bodywork in my life, but nothing really did the trick until I came to Joe for fascia work. I have enormous respect for him as a healer, and the brilliant method he has mastered. Each week I leave the calm of his office awestruck and happy...already looking forward to the following session. I have not felt this consistently good in years. Joe and Hayama Osteo-Therapy have my highest recommendation, and deepest appreciation.“

3040 Larkin St, San Francisco“This is my second series of PT treatments at Apex, two years apart (different issues). APEX wowed me the first time, and when the doctors suggested some new PT, there was only one call to make. APEX continues to impress. A very spacious facility with a view across the bay to Marin, exceptionally clean, where all the equipment is maintained in great working order. And most importantly, a dedicated and knowledgeable staff.“

2397 Shattuck Ave. #206, Berkeley“My praise and gratitude for Janette is endless. I came to her after trying more traditional forms of PT, desperate to feel better. Within just a couple sessions, my nerve pain had significantly reduced. I credit Janette with encouraging me to visit a specialist, who then made a very critical diagnosis, solving 20 years of mystery health issues. After having so many medical professionals tell me it was all in my head, it was so relieving to have someone truly listen and take my symptoms seriously.
The 18+ months I visited Janette weekly (sometimes twice a week) were well worth the time and money, and she was instrumental in my healing after surgery. I’ve since moved out of state and if only I could have taken Janette with me! I plan to make an effort to see her whenever I am in the Bay Area. Janette is a true master of her craft and is constantly learning new techniques. She creates a safe and comfortable environment and is clearly passionate about helping people feel better physically and mentally. I can’t imagine where I would be if I hadn’t sought her out. Thank you, Janette!“

3419 Grand Ave Ste 202, Oakland“Maggie is wonderful. Her myofascial therapy is very different, and so much more impactful, than a typical "massage." She's given me so many great tips and exercises. She's a true champion of foam rollers and her guidance has really improved my physical well being. No matter what's going on in my life, her easygoing, warm, and patient presence makes each appointment such a pleasure. I recommend signing up for her online videos and attending her rolling classes in person or remotely.“

419 30th St Suite 03, Oakland“I was referred to Bayo Vista from a friend who had a great experience with Karen. I had Karen for my intake appointment she made me feel very comfortable with the pelvic exam. I have been working with Emily for all of my other appointments and she is WONDERFUL. She looks at your whole body and works on all parts holistically. I felt silly to point out my knee feeling stiff in one appointment as it wasn't the major problem spot. Emily looked into it and wow, did she make a difference! I felt like a new person. I had assumed that this knee would always feel that way after I had ACL reconstruction 7 years ago... but I was happily proven wrong! All appointments are 1 hour and you really get focused time with Emily or Karen. They are out of network with insurance, but I would still highly recommend them due to the quality of care you receive. Emily and Karen also have been very supportive of my bringing my baby with me. It was very comfortable to bring her and we took breaks as needed for nursing/holding. Thank you for being baby friendly, especially when a mama just needs some physical therapy love postpartum. :) Erika is also their billing and administrative ninja. She is so on top of sending out superbills for insurance the day of your appointment and booking appointments for you. I really appreciate that Bayo Vista uses text messages for booking appointments or their online system. I would highly recommended Bayo Vista!“

The facility was immaculate, and the staff were exceptionally friendly. I opted for the 90-minute massage and was thoroughly pleased with the experience. I felt an immediate improvement, and the next morning I woke up feeling rejuvenated. I highly recommend this place to both locals and visitors; you won't be disappointed. In fact, I'm planning to return before heading back to New York. Thank you so much!“

2855 Telegraph Ave Ste 301, Berkeley“I have had great results for my pelvic issues with PHRC, with Tiffany Ai Lan Vo and other PT’s there. The support staff is also very supportive, welcoming and competent in dealing with the insurance maze. Thank you Lisa Topete. I got excellent PT care, support and guidance there and highly recommend PHRC.
I went to PHRC after a mountain biking accident and healing of my fractured pelvic bone. The scar tissue buildup was restricting my range of motion and made bike riding painful. After much research, I found PHRC as the only PT clinics in the North Bay providing both strengthening training and manual therapy. I’m completely past my injuries and in a better physical condition than before my fall accident.“

1801 Bush St, San Francisco“I’m an ex-athlete that still plays lots of sports and am very active in my free time. I never quite learned the value of stretching before exercise and as I get older, I’m learning the hard way.
Whenever I’m hurt, GGPT is the first call. I’ve come in for a tweaked neck, strained glute, and some other stuff I’ve gotten as a result of lifting/playing sports without stretching.
I haven’t tried any other PTs in SF, but that’s because I’ve never needed to. Been coming here about 3 years for short stints as needed. They are consistently very good at their jobs and they’re genuinely very kind people. Highly recommend this group!“
“On the very strong recommendation of another PT who had moved out of the area, I went to see Steve Ryan for reverse total shoulder replacement post-op physical therapy. Steve is simply the best, most knowledgeable, competent, straightforward, compassionate, patient and organized physical therapist I have ever worked with. The written instructions and (excellent) videos for the prescribed PT exercises are available the day of or 1 day after your appointment. He is very organized and prompt so appointments are always on time. I am 79 years old and very active for my age. Steve guided me through a major glitch in my surgical recovery and I am now fully back to all my physical activities. I'm sure I couldn't have done this without his professional mentorship. Strongly and without hesitation thank and recommend Dr. Stephen Ryan for physical therapy.“
“I have had occasion to use El Cerrito Hand Therapy over the years (my wife and my daughter have also had PT here) and my most recent experience was because of ongoing arthritic pains in both wrists, hands and thumbs. While I can 100% recommend *all* the therapists here, my special thanks goes out to Katarina Kantor. She is just amazing: soft spoken, gentle and all the while being professional and thorough in her treatment plans and care. Kat provided graduated steps to get my hands back to not simply functional, but pain free. I cannot say enough positive things about Kat. The entire staff, including the wonderful front desk staff (thank you Katie for always having a smile!) are welcoming, friendly and they really care about you as a patient and client. So, if you are looking for a physical/occupational therapy team for your hands or arms and are in the East Bay, this is your spot.“
