“This was my first visit to Target Optical. It was by far the best, most thorough eye exam by Dr. Kimberly Chia, and I have had quite a few eye exams in my life. She is the first person who actually asked me to sit at her desk and use her laptop to show her how I use my laptop, so that she could more precisely determine the distance for my computer glasses. Every other place I have been to just had a fixed number of inches they use for computer glasses, and another fixed number for reading glasses, regardless of your size or reading/computer working habits. I must also add, the associates at the optical department are super friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. Overall, very positive experience.“

“I drive up from the Central Coast to go to Dr. Ong. I tried a new eye doctor when we moved south, but couldn't find one as good. Dr. Ong explains exactly what she's doing and why, what the tests show, and involves the patient in deciding what type of correction works best for each person. I have lived in 3 states, on both coasts, City and rural; she is the best eye doctor I've had. Well worth the 4-hour round trip.“

It was easy to make an appointment and to confirm my insurance info. I was able to do the new patient paperwork beforehand and the online system was clear and easy to use. The office was clean and upscale in appearance. Dr. Dagron was lovely. Efficient, kind and a great guide when deciding what to get. My old optometrist was always trying to upsell me on services but I felt like Dr. Dagron just wanted to get me what I needed (glasses and contacts) and best leverage my insurance rates. “I've seen more ophthalmologists in my lifetime than I can remember, given my long history of eye ailments. But Dr. Cindy Hwang is unlike any doctor I've ever experienced. She is first and foremost a warm, supportive and nurturing human being, who also happens to be a highly skilled and knowledgeable retinal specialist. She has an empathy for her patients that is both comforting and inspiring. She excels at treating her patients as real human beings, and not as walking medical numbers. Dr. Hwang recently transferred to Oakland Kaiser from the Vallejo Kaiser. Fortunately, this has cut down my driving time from over an hour, to just 25 minutes! Oakland should feel fortunate to have someone of the caliber of Dr. Hwang in it's fold!“

“It was my first time getting fitted for contact lenses, and I'm so glad I had come here instead of anywhere else. The waiting room was spacious with an abundance of seats and exceptionally clean. Prior to my appointment, I was given a thorough questionnaire about my eye and general health. I appreciated this because it demonstrated an interest in the patient's health as a whole, instead of focusing solely on the eyes. I have been to other specialists who haven't taken much time to consider any other health issues, but being diagnosed with an autoimmune condition has completely changed my outlook since that diagnosis has impacted my eyes. I knew even before I had met with Dr. Anaya, that I was going to be in good hands.When it was my turn to go, I was both greeted, and escorted, to the office space where my eyes would be examined. The staff here was very kind and explained everything thoroughly during my pre-exam. This was especially important since I had always been nervous about getting prescription contact lenses (despite using color ones in the past), but the staff here and Dr. Anaya had made me feel comfortable and answered all of my questions.Dr. Anaya took the time to answer all of my questions about my eye health, contact lenses, and thoroughly explained my eye's health to me as well. I have worn glasses for years, and I have never had a more comprehensive and thorough exam! It made me feel as though I knew where my eye health was standing, which gave me more confidence and relief than when I had first entered the office! I appreciated Dr. Anaya's recommendations for my eye health, hearing good news is always priceless. Even knowing my eye health was looking good, Dr. Anaya had validated my concerns and was very reassuring.After getting fitted for contact lenses, I went to update my prescription for glasses. I had just gotten glasses the year before, but they had given me a much weaker prescription and corrective lenses - both, weren't doing my eyes any favors! In the end, I was able to try on glasses until I found the perfect pair. The woman who was helping me find my glasses gave me awesome recommendations since I knew what type of frames I had wanted. I ended up loving her selections and left feeling excited and confident about my new glasses' arrival.Everyone here is so kind and attentive and you are guaranteed excellent, informative, care.“
