“Jean is the absolute BEST! When I came to her back in summer 2022, my scalp was bleeding from a skin condition that flairs up due to stress or low immunity. She took a special camera to it and showed me how bad it was. She did a special scalp treatment and conditioner from Korea, and it has helped tremendously! Not only that, but my hair was grey, purple, and brown from me messing with box color, and she fixed it. I love her personality and her services.

If you go to Jean at Lavanda, please respect her, her time, and keep your appointment as there are no walk-ins. She is the only one servicing the salon. Plus, there is no haggling on prices. One man came in while I was getting my hair done, and he was so rude to her talking about "In my country this, and in my county that...". This salon is upscale with services to match that need to be respected, so please respect her and her salon.“

“I chose to splurge for my birthday and try something I saw in a YouTube video...A Japanese Head Spa. If you don't know what that is, please google it. It was nothing short of amazing. Parking & Location This was located at a strip mall so the parking was plentiful. It was a huge parking lot so I see no one having issues finding a parking spot. This was located in a suite of salons located in Woodbridge, VA. Ambiance The entrance was very secure as it was double doors and you needed to call your stylists before being granted entry to the actual suites. In between the double doors is a small sitting area. I used the directory to dial Anna Mae and she responded fast. She was out to greet me within minutes. I followed her back to her private salon where I was surprised to see that there were no other clients. Normally, at any salon you'll have one person under the hair dryer, another waiting, and one still in the chair finishing up. This was already a plus because it was a custom experience. Experience She begun by introducing herself to me and showing me as well as telling me about her certifications. She is not only a Licensed Cosmetologist but also a Certified Japanese Head Spa Specialist. Next she offered me snacks and chai tea....happily excepted all of the above. I mean these were the good snacks, kind bars, Olli Pop soda, RXBAR protein/granola bars, and fresh chai tea. She explained the service options and possible add-ons. I opted for the deep cleaning option. Then she brought out the camera and showed me my scalp that I do not grease but looked like it hadn't been washed in a long while. She proceeded to take me over to the shampoo table, yes you lay down to get your hair washed. She provided me with a steam warm eye patch to place over my eyes, and I got under a big cozy blanket. She put a pillow under my legs so I would be comfortable. She was very gentle as I have type 4 natural hair and she took her time to separate my hair into sections, detangle, and used her finger pads to scrub my head. As if that was not enough, she asked permission to massage my feet and later my back. Consent is so important and she definitely understood that. Of course I agreed and was basically in heaven. I believe the massagers were percussion massagers so they had some power to them. When I was all washed, I went back to the chair and received a scalp massage as well. Then she showed me my scalp again on the camera and explained the treatment to me. It looked like someone else's head based on the earlier video. I could even see where some of the follicles were trapped and unable to grow from the previous build up and had now been freed (if that makes sense). I opted for the blow dry add on because why not. She'd been so gentle with my type 4 hair and I figured I would milk it. LOL the experience was immaculate and Anna Mae was a wonderful stylist!! Ten out of Ten would absolutely recommend her services. I will be back for special occasions or treats :).“

“This was my second visit in 2 months! These ladies are kind and they get right to work. The first thing I noticed was how clean the salon was. Next everyone steps in to help. One was braiding my hair and another came over and started the snipping the hair sticking out of the finished braids. They clean the stations and sweep right away and make room for the next client. They confirm the style you want and explain how to care for the hair and even do a test braid for your approval before moving on. Some of the kindest women I've ever encountered. I WILL be back! They are fast, friendly, clean AND do good work without charging an arm and a leg.“

She also understands that not all clients are the same and empowers my choices and habits when it comes to my IBE care, while also being honest about the risks and benefits in my own maintenance habits. “I visited the salon for the first time a few days ago and absolutely loved my experience. The salon is clean, well organized and the atmosphere is perfect. I was styled by Kim. I went in with hair to the middle of back wanting a big chop/pixie cut and Kim did AMAZING! She took her time, kept me informed on what she was doing, ensured I was comfortable the entire time and laid my cut out! I found Woodbridge Barbers and Salon online, and booked Araceli. We got there, it was her and Sandra working, both were with a client, Araceli was cutting a man’s hair and Sandra was trimming a man’s beard. Araceli greeted us, while we were waiting, I watched they both takes their time to give the quality service to their clients….not rushing because they had people waiting. When it’s my younger son’s turn, I showed her how we wanted it cut, she constantly communicates with us, it was his first haircut at a barber shop, not only Araceli had delivered the exceptional service, my kiddo was very calm under her shears. ? Followed was my older son (12) who had a hair cut by her, he told her how he wants it cut, in between she communicates well with him, that shows a professionalism. I know we have found our stylist!“

Sherrie, the owner, was super nice, i was seen on time and she was very thorough! she does a great job on educating and answering questions about your hair and being seen by her felt very warm and welcoming. the prices are very reasonable compared to other places and i felt like i got everything i wanted out of the experience. everything was great from the moment i stepped in from when i left. i couldn’t recommend her enough :)“

“This review is L O N G overdue!!! If you care about the health of your hair and want it to be the healthiest it's ever been, you need to see Angie. I went to her years ago and then she moved. I am here to tell you NOONE else has been on her caliber!!! She ask questions to really understand how you are taking care of your hair on your own and then she educates you!! She tells you everything she is doing with your hair and why. Also.... time, you are not there all day, when you are in her chair, the focus is you. She is so fast and efficient, and I DONT HAVE TO DETANGLE OR PREP my hair prior to coming, she does it and she is gentle. Lastly, I do not know how she does it but my natural curls is at its best after seeing her to the point that I didn't even wanna wash it bc I knew it wouldn't look like hers (it didn't but we will get there lol) she also makes clean haircare products for you to check out! “I've been here a few times now and it has become my new go-to spa in the area. Always kept very clean and everyone has been great. Variety of treatments are wonderful and I'm thrilled they're open late. I'm looking forward to their nail salon expansion.

The only thing keeping me from giving it five stars is the lack of a quiet and relaxing waiting room. Instead, they offer a VIP room that comes at an additional cost and this shouldn't be the case. Every spa I've ever been to offers this at no charge and is expected. Typically, you would check in, change into your robe and head to this room to start relaxing ahead of your treatment. It helps calm the nerves and get you into the right mindset. It's also a nice place to hydrate and rest a bit after your treatments have been completed.

Unfortunately, you have to wait at the check-in/entrance which can be loud and somewhat chaotic, and you feel rushed to leave immediately after your treatment. It really prevents the place from feeling truly relaxing and luxurious. I really hope the owners reconsider this set up moving forward.“

“A place where you can take the whole family! We go to LaMonya. She was very patient with my youngest daughter who has Down Syndrome. She dyed my middle daughter's hair exactly how she wanted...and she does a great job with my loc maintenance. She has a sweet spirit and a cheery disposition! Also, this is a good place to bring your special needs kids as I have never seen a gentler hair cut than the one time I watched Melissa (I believe) give a fade to an autistic boy. It meant a lot to me because I know from experience how hard it can be to get your special needs child a haircut, and that fade was on point.“

“I went there to get my haircut fixed which was messed up at another salon down the street. I made an appointment over the phone but when I came in, they couldn't find my reservation. However, they were able to squeeze me in and Patty did an ok job on fixing my hair - although I had to go much shorter and my hair still looked a bit too choppy, but it was better than what I had before. I will try another master next time and see if I will keep using this place. Pricing is more than at Haircuttery, but lower than other salons (not chains) around. Place itself looks a bit outdated but clean enough.“
