“Dear Reader: I have nothing but the best to say about my multi-year experience with Tom and his firm, The Window Man.Years ago our historical Coop in DC was debating how best to proceed to deal with the old windows from 1927 period which had long seen its usefulness (to put it politely)!Essentially, we painfully debated "refurbishment" and "replacement". Mock ups were made and reviewed in our common room. Multiple providers were discussed and for replacement our Board of Directors finally selected The Window Man.Long story short, I personally initially went for refurbishment (which would have been a 2 months tedious process) and then when I saw the EXCELLENT work of the TWM on other apartments in my building, I decided to go with Tom and his Team.As I was noodling for one full year on whether to "refurbish or replace", I had a chance to see how the process was going in the apartments near me and what the windows from the Marvin factory looked like as they came in from the factory. The Team on the ground would patiently explain technical points as the work progressed (typically a 1-3 day project end-to-end from start to finish depending on the number of windows to be installed).The Marvin Windows I now have are aesthetically beautiful and replicated the windows that were there for nearly 100 years in shape, the number of panes, the white wood work inside etc. Gone are the pesky heavy weights hanging and rattling on fraying cloth pulls. We now have a smooth-functioning set of 17 windows throughout our apartment!! I am very (very!!) happy. I attach some photos for any future client to look at and get an idea of what Marvin replacement windows look like once installed in an actual apartment.Once I signed the deal with the TWM office (coordinated by Manager "Mike" who was excellent at keeping me briefed on installation date timing and managing all payments), I then had the pleasure of dealing with "Mikey" - the Foreman who led an excellent team.Bottom line: Mikey and his on-the-job team did a great job on our 17 windows!What needed to be rectified at the time of final post-install inspection, Mikey did so and never cut corners! He HIMSELF identified two windows that needed modification / adjustment. I was thrilled. Most Contractors try and run away from residual corrections. Not so with The Window Man: Tom and his company stand by their work 100%.Mikey treated the job with a personal touch almost as it were his own apartment! I found some excess glue near the edges on one window and Mike (Office "Mike") made sure to show the photo to Mikey to add this minor task to the final visit date set to rectify the other two windows. The final visit happened and all our 17 windows are now beautiful and 100% working nicely.Last point: Mikey at the last visit also showed me how the windows operated (they are high tech after all!!) and and how to clean them and the screens.Mike at the office was always patient and listened and acted promptly on all outstanding issues. He has excellent client facing skills and is always reachable.Last but not least, I need to say some nice words about Tom (the Owner of TWM). Tom always stood by me as I noodled for 1 year on whether to "refurbish" or "replace". Thank God, I opted to go with TWM and replace all our windows!Please accept these sincere words on The Window Man as you consider engaging them for your own important job.“
