I was sent here by the VA without choice. The eye doc was nice enough, but also a bit dismissive when I was voicing my past medical experiences relating to my symptoms. I went into the appt not sure what to expect, but left feeling like she cared more about getting her check from the contract company than treating me like a "real patient". I drove 45 min both ways for a 5 min appt. Im glad I don't have to go back here.

Got my Lasik done with Dr K. She was great! She was there with me through the whole process. Made me feel comfortable and even gave me her cell phone number in case I needed it. I see better than I used to see with my glasses or contacts

Haha, wow. So no, it wasn't that simple. At the end of my appointment, Dr. Kotecha did mention my eyes were dry and recommended I use lubricating drops, but said I was fine to try wearing contacts again since the ulcer was gone. She showed no real concern about the dryness or the inflammation that I later found out is actually really serious. The ulcer was gone, so in her opinion, she was done, I guess? So very shortly after she told me I could try contacts again, I went back to MyEyeDr for an eye exam to order some. At two different appointments there, two different doctors told me my eyes were far too dry and inflamed for them to give me contacts, and they both refused to do so. They both prescribed me steroid drops in increasing strengths, which Dr. Kotecha apparently didn't think was necessary. The drops improved the issue a little, but not by much. On my third visit to MyEyeDr, they told me I can wear dailies at my own risk, but that I still have a problem with dry eye/inflammation that needs to be closely monitored and will probably need to be addressed by a specialist (like an opthemologist... which Dr. Kotecha is...) My question to Dr. Kotecha is: how could you possibly have glossed over what has turned into a major saga that three different doctors have actually been really concerned about? The discrepancy there makes no sense to me - THREE doctors against one here are telling me that no, my eyes are not really fine to be wearing contacts and that I still have a problem that could ultimately damage my vision if not resolved. I don't know what happened here. Maybe because it wasn't major corneal surgery (like Lasik where she's making thousands), my case wasn't a super high priority for Dr. Kotecha. All I know is that if I do have to circle back to another opthemologist, it definitely won't be her.
