“First off I absolutely love his attitude and personality! while it is professional, he’s not a robot; he creates a connection with all of his students. It fosters a very fun and engaging environment. However, it is a bit of a “big” personality and I could see it clashing with some peoples own. at times it can be a bit assertive, or abrasive but it comes from a place of teaching, care, and enthusiasm, not necessarily crudeness. And ofc, always with a smile :)Second, I saw a lot of people on here criticizing his procedures and how it was “dangerous”, I would like to address this. There is doing martial arts for sport, and there is doing martial arts for self-defense.The classes that I took were for self-defense, for I had been assaulted. When you are on the street, or you are put in a REAL dangerous unsafe situation and only do training for an ideal imaginary conditions, not accustomed to reacting when you feel a gun pointed at you, you are going to not handle it properly when it does happen. you need to be exposed to (safe) realistic dangerous situations and have your body get used to reacting to that stimuli so that it’s not unknown or foreign, so you don’t freeze or panic, and I really appreciated that in that class.I actually felt like I could be put in that position and stay calm and know what to do because of that exposure. That, you wouldn’t get in any other class.Keep in mind, I only took bjj and hagana, I can’t say if this applies to the others. But, I would say that the classes are a bit difficult and fast paced. Not really geared towards fresh ignorant beginners. And I am a very uneducated beginner hahaha. It was a mixture of different levels of experience in every class and be taught techniques that would also apply to them, so it was not very easily comprehended. While they did try to break it down, and show the basics occasionally. It wasn’t very often or thorough. It didn’t feel like an actual course with stages. I struggled a bit to follow most of the instruction because I did not have or was taught a foundation before going into it. It was overwhelming, the amount of information and pacing.I ended up leaving for that reason and am looking for a more slow paced class for bjj, but the hagana I would highly recommend. He is a very qualified and competent instructor, so I would still recommend taking a few classes and seeing if it’s the right fit.I miss taking his classes, but I just need something that fits my needs better. I might even come back!Give it a shot!“
