“This is a kid/toddler friendly martial arts school. Starting from the ages of 4+. The school is well organized and structured. The instructors are very friendly and attentive. The beginners class (Dragons Class) ranges from ages 4-6. It is well designed to provide not only martial arts, but also to teach life lessons in becoming a good person. The classes are fun for the kids. A great way to utilize their energy in a safe environment.Classes are from Monday-Saturday. You attend two 30-minute classes a week during the designated time spots. Classes are separated by age groups and also by skill level. My son started around the age of 4. He was very timid and shy at first. It was a struggle to get him to participate in class, but with the help of the awesome instructor staff he overcome his fear. He definitely enjoys going to classes now, and has shown a ton of improvement since joining 9 months ago.“

“Literally one of the best decisions that I made was signing my child up at Genesis Taekwondo! The curriculum is so well rounded in teaching, confidence, discipline, and mental focus, all the while having fun! The instructors are phenomenal with scaffolding on the student’s knowledge, while building them up into the best version of themselves. Truly a genuine place, full of genuine people that want the best for your child!“

“I was fortunate enough to have found Steve through a stellar recommendation from my doctor. I've been training with Steve for about 6 months, and have seen/felt incredible positive changes in my body and lifestyle choices. When I started with Steve, I was 30 lbs overweight, 30% body fat, extremely high blood pressure, poor diet, drinking, sedentary lifestyle and hated working out. I was extremely discouraged from a recent disastrous 3-month experience with a previous fitness program that promised quick results with the "perfect workout". I sustained numerous injuries, zero results, and it was extremely expensive.I wasn't even sure Steve would take me as a client because I had such a bad attitude about working out, and I was physically and mentally defeated. At our first meeting, Steve took as much time as I needed to ask/answer questions, listen to my goals and explain honestly what it was going to take to get to those goals. Steve's knowledge of fitness and nutrition is incredible. He created a realistic food plan that would work with the foods I likes to eat. He has an amazing plant-based protein powder called "Militant Vegan" that is fantastic! Chocolate with almond butter is my favorite, but you can add so many things to the vanilla that it's a good choice too.Steve is a great motivator and has completely changed my attitude towards living healthier and working out. I can actually see muscle definition, my balance is significantly improved, my blood pressure and resting heart rate are improved and my favorite jeans fit again! I look forward to training with him 3 times a week and can't wait to see where I will be in another 6 months. He is always adjusting the workouts to push you to your personal best, but never to the point of injury. Safety and correct form are number one.My family and friends are stunned that I am still working out three times a week, and I'm enjoying it! I can't thank Steve enough for making such a huge, positive impact on my health and overall lifestyle change.“

Texas Isshinryu Karate Kai Martial Arts Schools

“A great dojo for both kids and adults alike that teaches traditional Okinowan Karate with a focus on both physical and character development. I have a 7 year old and 15 year old that attend the Kai as do I. I have spent 23 years studying Isshin-Ryu and this Dojo has got it right. There are a very large number of black belts who have been rigorously tested to ensure they are fully knowledgeable in the art which translates to students getting the expert personal attention needed to progress in their development. The Kai and this dojo are run by Soke Kristensen who is a 10th degree black belt and both a World Martial Arts and Isshin-Ryu Hall of Fame inductee.“

“I've been training with the OKCD for a few years now and love it. The instructors and the people running the school are so kind and welcoming that you can't help but feel like you're joining a community first and training karate second. I have a few years of martial arts training under my belt in many different arts from before my time at OKCD, and I gotta say that I've never felt more at home than I do at OKCD. Everyone who trains and teaches there LOVES karate and it's hard to miss. There isn't any kind of "we're better than everyone else" bravado and there aren't any cliques within the dojo. It's just training and exploring ideas and concepts within the curriculum.I truly believe that the culture of a school, or business for that matter, comes from the top and trickles down through the ranks. Because this dojo was founded by people who are passionate about martial arts and the sharing of the style they fell in love with, that mentality of just appreciating where you are and exploring the movements is prevalent throughout the entire school. I spent many years searching for a dojo to learn traditional Okinawan karate from, and I'm so thankful I found OKCD. Looking forward to many more years making new connections and meeting people who share a love for all things martial arts.“
