My 3-year-old son was initially hesitant and would cling to me, refusing to join the class. However, Master Curry and his assistants were incredibly patient, taking the time to build trust and offer positive encouragement. In a short amount of time, they were able to motivate and engage him, helping him feel comfortable and confident (and to have fun!)

I very particular style of teaching with a step by step approach while constantly being on the cutting edge of the latest and newest techniques. Yes its stuffy its a basement. They redid the bathrooms much improved. The best gym ever, Master Renzo should he happen to be there is the most charismatic man I ever met and his stories and love for jiujitsu make him the legend he is. Highly recommend.“

363 New Dorp Ln, Staten Island“I have been a student at Tiger Schulmann’s New Dorp for over 25 years. From the very beginning, Sensei John Delaney welcomed me with open arms. The staff, the students and the Tiger Schulmann community is truly special. They have created an environment where everyone feels valued and supported, regardless of their skill level or experience.
Sensei Delaney’s dedication to his students is unparalleled. He consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that each of us not only masters the techniques but also understands the deeper values and principles behind them. The impact of Sensei Delaney's instruction has been so profound that I was inspired to sign up my family. Tiger Schulmanns New Dorp has become a place where we not only train but also bond as a family.
All of the instructors of Tiger Schulmann’s New Dorp are truly one of a kind. Their passion for teaching and their unwavering commitment to their students makes each of them an exceptional mentor. I am deeply grateful for everything Sensei Delaney and his staff has done for me and my family, and I wholeheartedly recommend this program to anyone seeking not just martial arts training, but a life-changing experience.
Thank you, Sensei Delaney, Sensei Fischetti, Joshu Varricchio, Sempai Delaney and the Tiger Cub staff for all that you do. Osu!“

2018 86th St, Brooklyn“My son has been attending UTDC since April 2024. When first enrolling him I was nervous because he has Autism & ADHD and I wasn’t sure how the instructors would handle him but I must commend each and every one of them. They are absolutely trained and equipped to deal with all children. When I say as a single parent that works 2 jobs I have struggled finding a program or sport that would be accepting of him and I have to say they welcomed my son with open arms. He has faced behavioral issues that have made it very difficult for him at times but since starting taekwondo he has made great strides and this is all due to the instructors! The discipline instilled, compassion and patience from every instructor has ignited a spark in my son that I have never seen before and I am so grateful. Thank You UTDC for being a part of my son’s life! FYI he told me won’t stop until he becomes a black belt??“

I knew I wanted to be active but was not wanting to go to a traditional gym. Glad I stopped by and signed up. My favorite part is there are other people here in the same boat as me, looking to make a change and be around like minded individuals. There’s no pressure and you are never forced into contact or anything that makes you uncomfortable. It’s nice when your “no face hits” boundary is respected. 5 stars!“

414 Grand St, Jersey City“Family Fitness has been such an important life style for our son Valentino who has join this family for the past 4-5 years and it has been the best decision ever. He has build his confidence, has learned respect, values, discipline and being courageous.. he is now a red belt going on his 3rd stripe and we can’t be more proud and happy for his accomplishments. The instructors push him to his limit specially Mr. X he saw potential on Valentino since day one he is always motivating him and proving to him that he has more to offer everyday and that has made his martial arts skills a lot stronger. Mr. X is very experienced and impressive.. has great teaching skills that makes all kids want more daily. He runs the Demo Team which is another motivating level of training for kids who are interested in being committed, dedicated and passionate. We truly love it here. If you want your kid/kids to learn how to defend themselves this is the place to call.“

139 Fulton St #706, New York“My wife and I loved training at Square Circle. All the coaches are great and super knowledgable, but we particularly benefitted from Kru Rob's expertise. One thing that set Square Circle apart for us, though, was the community. There was a mix of levels, from folks currently competing to newer athletes, but everyone was super welcoming and eager to help / learn from one another. I definitely felt like it was a safe, fun place to spar, and bonus points for the beautiful space overlooking the Financial District. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to train Muay Thai in the city!“

7 - 10PM
8012 13th Ave, Brooklyn“The Bay Ridge Dojo is hands down one of the most exceptional martial training centers out there. I first stepped through its doors in 1985, and though life has taken me away from time to time, I’ve always found myself coming back. There’s a reason this dojo has stood the test of time while so many others have fallen by the wayside. The family-like atmosphere combined with a no-nonsense approach to self-defense creates an environment that’s both welcoming and serious about personal growth.
What sets BRD apart is its balance between staying true to its core principles while continually evolving to meet the demands of modern self-defense. The training here is grounded in reality, and it’s served me well throughout my career as both a Marine and a Police Officer with the NYPD. This is not a place where you’ll learn flashy, ineffective techniques. At BRD, you’re trained to survive and thrive in any confrontation, whether it’s through de-escalation, tactical maneuvers, or straight-up combat when necessary. The goal is simple: win and go home safe.
The instructors are first-class professionals in their respective fields, and each one brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to their teaching. If you’re looking for a martial arts school that will push you, protect you, and make you feel like part of a family, look no further. The Bay Ridge Dojo has been my second home, and I couldn’t recommend it more highly.“
