705 Hammond Dr, Sandy Springs“I’ve grown up with a lot of martial arts in my life. Judo and shotokan were my first two systems taught from father to my brother and me from kindergarten before studying a few other systems as a teenager. From all my training, I have seen many kinds of teaching, but two systems have stood out; one is our system here and the other was a very traditional southern kung fu kwoon. For me, the traditional path is best. These systems of martial arts were developed over centuries. In a world of sports fighting, we often forget the “martial” aspect. These systems were developed by oppressed people for self defense from outsiders who had conquered their lands with large militaries, like Okinawa. The systems in the dojo blend beautifully together. Both systems extend from Okinawa. (Other reviews claiming the system here is too Japanese are confusing shotokan (Japanese) with shudokan (Okinawan). I have studied both and they are quite different, despite similarity in the name. This would lead me to question the knowledge of such a reviewer.Hundreds of years. These systems were developed from roots that existed before our country. The techniques have been tested across sundry generations. They work. The system is also developed to teach martial skills - the ability to defend yourself - without the need for you to hurt yourself sparring with lots of people. The systems work.Come try out the dojo. Moeller Sensei will introduce you to everyone. It’s a welcoming environment for everyone, no judgment. If you’re looking for a Cobra Kai kind of dojo (great series on Netflix) then this is NOT it. This is about thoughtful development of skills that meet your abilities and then the work to increase those abilities. It’s excellent. You will develop. You will progress, and progression is earned on merit. There are no testing fees or anything like this. Moeller Sensei does not run the school to make money; he has a full time job. Moeller Sensei runs the school for his love of sharing two traditional systems of karate.Come join us for a class.“

Master Choi and his team does a really great job of making sure the students understand the moves and also ensure they do the moves correctly while having fun. Another great thing we love are the life lessons and self-discipline that they teach. It was a great decision to switch to this school.“

Although I had never tried martial arts before, I felt comfortable as an adult trying something completely new at this school. I look forward to learning more.“

710 Holcomb Bridge Rd Suite 50, Roswell“The best quality coach you will find in the area, whether you are a beginner or seasoned. Coach Victor is a class act in how he coaches, runs his business, and as a person. He is the only person I would ever train with until he stops coaching and I would trust him to train my child if and when I have one.
I started as a beginner, no experience, and I chose Muay Thai. We dabble in self defense as well. I take private lessons and Coach Victor is patient and knowledgeable.. I ask a lot of questions. I always leave in high spirits!
I shopped around when I was looking into different gyms. World class difference in the way Victor approaches his clients than the other gyms.“

2002 Weems Rd, Tucker“I am so pleased with the experience of our son. He struggles with focus and impulse control, and his karate lessons are helping with both. I am proud of him, and he is proud of himself. I love that the focus is not solely on karate skills, but also on character. To advance belts, students need to not only master skills but also demonstrate good behavior at home, school, and the Dojo. I could go on and on. The Martial Arts Center has been a gift. I'm excited for when my daughter is old enough to enroll.“

3293 Buford Hwy NE #500, Atlanta“There are many programs these days, offering grappling and striking. Yet, rare are the coaches that have competed at the “top” of the mountain. This gym has coaches and fighters that have and continue to fight across the globe, collecting world championship belts across disciplines. Coach Richard, in particular, is one of the most accomplished coaches one can find on US soil. He achieved great things as a pro boxer, pro kickboxer and Judoka. If you are interested in the fight sport, and are in the Atlanta Metro… this is the place to be.“

1841, 6470 Spalding Dr # N, Peachtree Corners“My two daughters have attended U.S. Taido since 2019 and are on track to become black belts in one more year. The school is a family-owned and run business, founded in 1975 by Mitsunobu Uchida, a first-generation Japanese immigrant. It's one of the oldest martial arts schools in the country. The longevity of U.S. Taido is testimony to its positive impact on the community and the thousands of students who have trained here and at sister schools across the country.
U.S. Taido and its instructors are committed to training and mentoring students, from elementary-aged children to senior citizens. The instructors can be tough, but they have genuine concern for their students. Lifelong friendships and bonds are forged here, not only between students, but also families. My children have learned karate and discipline, but valuable life lessons as well. U.S. Taido has helped them to grow physically, mentally, and ethically.
As a parent, I have the utmost confidence that the instructors are invested in my children's safety and well-being. Though I don't train at U.S. Taido myself, my wife and I have received tremendous encouragement from the wholesome family atmosphere and community the school has built. I hope to support the school and its mission for many years to come.“

It’s been a great environment to learn in and the other students are always very patient and respectful. Sifu Kevin is a great teacher and somehow makes jujitsu class fun to attend.I’ve learned a great deal of knowledge from my short time here. I’m going to keep coming back.“

2000 Cheshire Bridge Rd NE suite K, Atlanta“I've been training here for a year now! More consistently in the past few months. As a female college student, whatever techniques taught here are really useful in a real situation. I love it the fact that it's still rooted in traditional shotokan karate, but we also explore other martial arts' techniques and adopt what work in a real fight. Sensei Chapman constantly pushes his students to the limit, but hey no pain, no gain. I feel like this is my true family in Karate! OOSSUUU“

4478 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd # B, Dunwoody“To say that the Dojo is a great place to train in Karate is a vast understatement: it is a life altering experience. My children go there and not only are they receiving top notch martial arts training, but they are trained to be the best people they can be. After my older child trained here for a year, I decided to join too, and I strongly regret not joining earlier. I'm learning a new sport, surrounded by a community of wonderful and supportive people, learning a new language, and learning new philosophies. I also feel the best I've felt in years: I've literally had a doctor prescribe more Karate for me. I have nothing but respect and feelings of joy towards the Dojo and all the staff there.“

3162 Johnson Ferry Rd #270, Marietta“This is an outstanding Martial Arts studio. Mr. Ross and Mr. Croom are amazing. You not only learn martial arts but respect and focus as well. My son is autistic. They push him to stay focused in a positive manner. He is in Black Belt Training where you can learn nun chucks, coli stick, staff, and more. Mr. Ross is a Master on the nun chucks and also studied in Korea for 3 years. Would 100% recommend not only for the martial arts but also for the mental toughness that they instill and real life scenarios that they invoke so you know to react. They, also, make it really fun! Can't say enough positive things about this place!“

4696 Lower Roswell Rd #500, Marietta“I enrolled my 7 yr old daughter here in hopes primarily to emulate my experience with a martial arts at the same time of my life. I did 2 years of Judo, and that seemed to help me focus a little more on what mattered. In college, I got back into it with Shotokan style karate for 2.5 years. I do not think the style of martial arts particularly matters much when you start out. What matters is that you follow a set of principles, are able to listen, coordinate yourself amongst your peers, and perhaps get something out of the time in school. I've read all of the previous comments. I agree some of the sentiments, but I can also see counter arguments. This school isn't worth the $160/monthly tuition if you are not participating in each of the three offered classes. Attendance and participation is key. The 30 minute lesson plan is optimal for little kids - and yes, out of the 30 minutes maybe 10-15 minutes is actually focused on what is learning the forms, kicks or "martial arts" material which helps you advance. The rest is broken into formalities, drills, meditation which are also helpful in developing mindfulness, respect and wellness. As your child ranks, concentration increases, and the lesson should also increase to 1 hr long. It will become necessary to attend additional classes to continue to advance, and even private lessons if you are interested in the advanced belts beyond brown - which is at least a 5 year commitment. Unfortunately if you transfer in from another martial arts program, you do not get credit for previous rank, and must start all over, albeit, you should theoretically advance much quicker because for example blocks and knife hands are essentially the same between karate and taekwondo. The differences are subtle. Except of course if Grand Master Seo knows or acknowledges the rank from the former school. I agree with the comment that English is not a primary language so Grand Master and his wife, who own the school, aren't particularly chatty. And if you have a question, it's probably best to address it with one of his pupil-instructors - and if they do not know - they can hunt it down for you. This school is close by which was the primary reason we joined. Apparently one of the pupils made it into the Olympics, but I still do not know who. I felt that the free introductory class was good, but the private lesson showing how your child could break a thin board was a little cheesy, especially because Ms Anna, a black belt, broke a popper for a special sound effect which she tried to hide but the smell of sulphur was present, and the replay of the video showed her throwing the popper chaff on the ground, that left me feeling a bit like, oh boy this place tries to emphasize more "show". This goes back to the fundamentals of the program: are you going to learn the martial art ? Is this program going to help you in a street fight ? Sometimes, perception is the best deterrent. Is your kid going to make a stand of show ? Some may some may not. However, if you need to back it up with reality, then perhaps this school does not provide all the necessary skills immediately. In time yes, but in the immediate future no. This "showmanship" is not necessary, but certainly all about salesmanship. Despite knowing about his sales tactics, I chose to enroll my daughter. I still believe that the exposure to martial arts - the highly structured learning: forms, the kicks, respect, discipline, honoring tenants and others - maybe it will help her to understand how vulnerable we as humans are, and to help protect that some day. I agree that the contracts that you sign here require advanced notice to get out of. If you plan to leave, and want to discontinue, you must plan and communicate with Grand Master and his wife, the date of your departure, as early as possible. They can seem oppressive if you are not a planner. I think if you aren't interested in learning about Eastern philosophy / martial arts and just want self defense mitigation, there are private instructors from m“
“Even though I’m a black belt in Kung fu, Jeremy’s teachings have opened a new light to the art of self defense. I’m very grateful to have enrolled in his experienced dimension.“
