“Our two girls have been attending Hero Academy for about 6 months (in the Tigers and Little Heroes classes respectively). We wanted them involved in something that would make them feel strong and confident, and counteract the negative messages that girls receive about their bodies and being strong in general. The girls LOVE it. I’ve never had such an easy time getting them to an extracurricular activity- no grumbling, they’re always ready to go to karate. Sensei Michael is a dedicated and gifted teacher who cares deeply for his students and always engages with the parents as well. He creates a firm, structured but also super fun, caring and encouraging environment that has strengthened the confidence of both girls. It has been tough to get them there twice a week but it’s worth it!Here is what they had to say:From the 9 year old: you think about karate you might think of punching and kicking. But at Hero Academy we do a lot of fun games like ninja and samurai that help us learn. The more you learn, the better you will learn karate and other things you wouldn’t learn regularly. It’s a good way to push your limits and get out of your comfort zone- and it’s REALLY fun.From the 6 year old: Sensei is the nicest sensei I have heard of and he helps me learn in a happy way, not a sad and grumpy way. Karate just makes me strong. It makes me feel like a ninja. When I do karate, it feels like I’m doing something that fits right in to me and I fit right in.“
“This is the best Martial arts and yoga by far, my son has going here since we moved to Florida in 2018. They are very flexible and treat their customers like family. Master Robertson is an exceptional teacher, you would not regret signing yourself or your child up for classes. Miss Lisa is always on point and never had an issue when my son use to be picked up for afterschool program. My son love taking the extra yoga class on Wednesday's with Mas Rob. It's a wonderful place to be, if u want to ease your mind and just breathe, such a positive environment. There is something special about Robertson Martial Arts, when u step into the Dojang you can just feel it. Thank you all for all the effort and kindness you have shown us over the years. “I've practiced different forms of Martial Arts most of my life (I'm 56).This school is unlike any other experience I've had.I broke my back, spent 10 years in pain, I was scared to move fast, or twist too much. There was a lot of fear in my body and mind. I also knew that I was growing fat, moving less, and my future was going down hill. I needed to do something!The level of instruction, knowledge, caring, respect, and friendships I have experienced at Oom Yung Doe over the last two years is very, very special.I move with a new sense of freedom (I never thought I'd see again). I sleep like a baby, my mind is sharp and focused. I stand with pride and strength.100% of the credit goes to the incredible knowledge that has been passed down over generations, and my incredible instructors.The time I spend training with my daughter has also been a great bonding experience. My teenage daughter started almost a year ago and has helped her with her confidence and shyness.
