“This place is a gem!! I feel so lucky to have found a pet villa. Our dog has anxiety and they handled Cali with such love, care, and dog competence. I am really grateful to have found this place. It is head and shoulders above the other dog hotels I've toured - they care about the dogs in a way that is so noticeable. and makes me feel calm and happy when our girl Cali, is there.“
“We brought our puppy to their socialization class, and I would highly recommend this institution for anyone with a puppy. The instructors are all knowledgeable, and the community is amazing. We had our first session today, and it was an overwhelmingly positive experience. We eagerly signed up for two more sessions after our class!“
“Urban Dog House is a great training school and I highly recommend them.

Both Dexter and Steve truly care about the dog's being compliant, happy in their compliance, with fewer and ultimately no corrections. This philosophy is reinforced in all their training regardless of who you work with or whether you do private, public, or pack walks. You get the sense the trainers really care about your dog and they care about teaching you so BOTH parties are happy and successful.

Some highlights:

-They offer so many opportunities to train your dog (group classes, private classes, swimming, agility, pack walks....) I have done group classes (currently level 2), private lessons, and have participated in a pack walk. I appreciate the real life settings to put into practice what has been learned in group classes. Additionally, the private lessons I have done with Steve have been very effective and really encouraging.

- Dexter and Steve are willing to work with different training tools (flat collar, martingale collar, prong collar, e-collar...). I really value this. They don't force a "type" on you. They also care about the tools being used correctly and that your dog is not being over corrected. I see consistently that they care about your dog and want to make sure communication from the handler to the dog is clear, appropriate, and effective. I think this is super important and I think Dexter and Steve do a great job with this.

-They welcome all family members to participate in classes or pack walks (or whatever). It is important for family members/handlers to hear the same message and have the opportunity to practice and ask questions. Not all training facilities allow this and I am thankful Urban Dog House not only allows it, but encourages it. My daughter has done most of the classes with me and therefore the training at home has been more effective.

Some notes:
-Classes/pack walks etc... tend to run over the allotted time. You can always leave when you need to, but I just plan cushion in my schedule.

-The trainers talk a lot (something I notice about most dog trainers :-) and sometimes I wish we practiced more, but what they share is valuable.

Bottom line - I am learning, my dog is learning, and our relationship has significantly improved because of the training we have received at Urban Dog House.

Give them a try - I believe you will be glad you did :-)“
“I took my rescue dog in for her first wellness appointment, which went very well. The office staff is very kind and service is quick. I love how they schedule non-urgent or non -surgery appointments in the morning for the same day.“
“Best dog trainer in the Bay Area! Mike is extremely knowledgeable, patient and personable. He has trained 4 of our dogs over the years and we are so thankful for his expertise.“
“We’ve done puppy socials and are on our second series of classes. I can’t recommend more! And very gentle and positive environment for both dogs and their people to learn.“
“David and his wife LeHang run an incredible academy for people who are looking to train, board, and learn about their dogs. My husky Jedi was an out of control puppy. 1 month with RFRD, he had all the training to make him one hell of a dog! Also took my mom's dog Obi there. He has benefited from the training and is a lot more disciplined than before. Whenever I go out of town, I can always trust the staff to take care of Jedi. They send updates with videos and pics of Jedi, so I know he's in good hands.Nothing but good things to say about this place.“

“The Doctor is caring and compassionate and personable takes a personal interest and the care of the animal definitely recommend him“
“Riley loved her stay with Jody and loved playing with woody. We have confidence and peace of mind with Jody and are looking forward to future visits. Thank you Jody ?“
“Kathy has been our trusted and beloved kitty sitter for over 8 years and she's the absolute best! Our 4 cats looks forward to her visits and she always sends updates and beautiful photos of them while we're away. She is such a kind and gentle soul with a deep love and respect for all animals. Knowing she is there to visit and take care of our kitties twice per day while we're away is priceless. We couldn't recommend her more and feel so blessed to have her.“
“We cannot recommend Dan enough. He's the best they come. He teaches *us* how to train our dog rather than focusing on directly training our dog himself, which is 100x more effective because we're with our pup every day, and Dan isn't (though we wish he could be!). Dan is incredibly effective, supportive, knowledgeable, and generous. We referred him to a friend who also only had glowingly positive things to say. Thank you Dan!!!! So glad to be working with you.“
“Michelle and Bill are AMAZING! They took great care of the dogs; truly catering to their every need. Michelle even texted pictures during their stay, so I never had to worry! The dogs adore them and will be back to visit them in the future.“
“Town and Country is a wonderful school for dogs. Our Old English pup loves this place! We've graduated from Beginner, Intermediate, Intermediate Plus and Tricks classes. All the instructors are amazing, and they focus on positive dog training. Classes are relatively small so the instructors can focus on your dog. There are several classes going on at the same time so it can get somewhat noisy, but frankly the distractions are a good lesson for your dog - if they can do what you ask in a room full of distractions they will be better trained to handle real-world distractions outside of class. Unlike other dog training places that teach only obedience, this club offers an intro to dog sports (rally, agility). We can't wait to try Rally-FrEe. The Tricks classes are a blast - have you ever seen a 65 pound fur-ball sheepie jump through his Mom's arms? Yep, our boy can do that (Thanks Diana!). Seriously, this place is awesome. We'll be back for more classes, and recommend this to anyone looking for a positive training school with top-notch instructors who really focus on building the bond between you and your pooch.“
“Amazing!!! Took my manteca because he had some obedience challenges and let me tell you! They created a strong foundation for him. We did yhe board and train and i will be the first to admit i was hesitant but Shy was super nice. Answered every question i had. Manteca is doing so much better in listening and followings commands. Amazing trainers and the updates were everything“
“This business has closed. Effective May 31, 2024. After a long 35 plus year run, the owners have decided to enjoy some much needed retirement. Thank you for your business!“
“Took the pups here at 16 weeks the schedule and location is convenient and worked well with our daily life. The training tips and techniques were helpful and Erica was patient and kind. We have used this service prior with our Rottweiler and he was the star of the show. Yorkies are a little more stubborn but oh so cute. Definitely recommend every dog needs school.“
“Great place! I've been coming for years, everyone has been friendly and helpful. They are good about getting back to me. I've called and spoken to the technicians and doctors many times and they are always happy to help. I especially appreciate all of Daniel's help. He's been really great with my previous cat and now my new kitty.“
“They treat my dogs with patience and kindness and never recommend any unnecessary interventions. Most importantly, My dogs are still happy and healthy in their old age.“
“We have taken our dogs to Arroyo for over 10 years now, and have had great care and responsive support for most of it. Recently our senior dog (13) developed a chronic condition. Dr Michelle did a great job of diagnosing it and we had a good one on one discussion at the appointment. Also, the vet techs are gentle and positive with my dogs, so preventative visits are comfortable and positive. My biggest problem now is with communication and availability. We used to get lab results emailed to us immediately, and now I have to request them every time. Used to get follow up phone calls after surgery or sick visits, and now silence. We used to be able to talk with someone on Monday, and now... You get the picture. Five stars for the quality of service there, 2.5-3 for the follow up, communication and hours.“
“I found a stray cat and bought her to De Anza vet scanning microchip.
The staffs are super friendly and borrowed me a carrier.“
“We took our dog (10month old puppy) to group training with Lori Hamilton, which we knew would be a basic class. Lori and her staff were friendly with us and the dogs, and treated them with respect and love. We learned so much during the 6 sessions, and our dog is limited only by the effort we put in. we now have the tools and techniques to work with him and create a better behaved, calm and loving dog. Lori is very observant to the dog's actions, and in loving but firm ways has them being that calm obedient pup. We have taken simple instructions and applied them with excellent results. We will be taking further sessions with Lori to further our knowledge, and to help our dog become that calm and confident pup that anyone will enjoy, and not just for his cuteness! Strongly reccomend even the group "kindergarden" class and the follow on classes!“
“The staff is excellent, My dog is a senior and I have interacted with doctors and staff many times. They could not be better!“
“Dr Saini, Jay, and staff took care of our dog Lucy. I like Dr. Saini because he spends the first portion just talking to you about your dog and your dogs health and what has been occurring in the past and the present. I like how he takes his time to explain the situation. He is a caring doctor.“
“Jimi has been a godsend for my pack of pups… she’s helped me with my pocket pup 5lb yorkie mix as well as my 130 lb cane corso and my 70 lb am staff mix…. She’s not only extremely informative but she also inspired me and brought out the pack leader in me . I would trust her with my furbabies implicitly and I highly recommend anyone looking for a real dog behaviorist to give Jimi a call you won’t regret it!“
