“I've gone to underground MMA for about a year and a half now, so here's the rundown. Costs: First major hurdles that you can encounter when starting mma is costs, as far as here it is the best of both worlds, for both quality and cost. Compared to other gyms this place is extremely cheap and the coaching is phenomenal. All mma gyms are going to be more than your regular weight gym but believe me this place is worth it and more. Training: classes are Monday through Friday evenings with morning classes Tuesday and Saturday. Each class has a bit of instruction with time to spar or drill at the end to hone your skills. Head coach Jannsen is a master of his craft as far as coaching and is always helpful with refining your style. Coach Jon is an exceptional and experienced fighter with professional bouts to boot, he is an incredible sparring partner and always helps you to get better. Coach Lucas is a warrior amongst men and has an amazing style that inspires you to want to get better. Each of them are incredibly kind as well as skilled, and I personally cannot ask for a better set of trainers. Community: for me the atmosphere of a gym is one of the most important factors when deciding a gym. It is incredibly gratifying that shamrock (underground) mma has fostered a community of caring and passionate fighters. All of the people you meet are wonderful and kind that will provide smiles, laughs, and good sparring. Whether you are training for fun, self defense, or to try your luck on the mma road, this gym has everything you need and more. Proud to be underground mma! TLDR: go to this gym trainings great, coaches are great, people are great. Plus it's cheap. First class is free try it out.“
“My son has been doing karate here about two months now and we love it. He's only 4, and it's a great balance of teaching discipline but still having fun. The staff is great. Friendly and welcoming.“
“My daughter Kyley started with World Class Taekwondo from the first opening. She was one of those kids that would perhaps be picked on at some point in her school life. We chose to sign her up for classes and she completed her black belt program in 2017 . The Srokas gave her great confidence , knowledge, and ability to protect herself that transcends into her daily life . I'm forever grateful for that. It is well worth the investment !“
“I’ve been training here under Corwin and Chuck since September 2023. I originally came to supplement my BJJ but then fell in love with Judo as its own art form and sport. My initial hesitation with starting Judo was the fear of getting injured as I’ve already got my fair share of chronic injuries through MMA and I’m only getting older.Yet I haven’t been injured a single time here as they put so much emphasis on safety and have dedicated adult classes on Monday & Wednesday which are more focused on technique and set-ups which means you can train at a lighter pace if you’re concerned about injuries. My favorite part of the Monday & Wednesday class is at the end when we get to practice controlled throws on each other on a huge crash pad - it feels like magic when you’re thrown effortlessly through a well-executed judo move and it’s a lot of fun landing on the crash pad too!Of course, they do have more intense classes on Tuesday and Thursday if you want to spar or train alongside active competitors. They have students that are at a world-class level here which humbles me every time I train.“
“Love this place! My child does taekwondo there and I do kickboxing. Master Jackson, Mr. Aj and Ms Beyonca are true professionals with passion to the art of martial arts. Also, this is a small family run businesses with a tighter community feel. Just love it!“
“My son is in the middle of his second year learning and practicing Jiu Jitsu at Battle Control. It has been a great experience for him to become dedicated to something he not only enjoys, but has the opportunity to develop as a skill that will last a lifetime. He is one of the youngest in the adult class and Mr. Lara is very encouraging and patient with him. I love the fact that when everyone enters the building, pride is left behind. The more advanced belts mentor the novices, even in the middle of an intense roll, to help them improve technique. All-in-all it is a wholesome, friendly atmosphere and I'm thankful my son started his Jiu Jitsu journey here.“
“Excellent place to train Tae-kwon-do and I understand that good things never come easy. We all need to be patient and dedicate our time to achieve great results“
“The best gift I've given myself in a very long time! I started at Choi's back in 1982 as a 12 year old boy, studied there until I went to the military in 87... 35 years later, I came back to the same Dojang, different location, but still the same school. I've been to other schools over the years, but none gave me the same satisfaction as my OG school! Choi's rocks!“
“My kids have been with Vision Martial Arts for the last 5-6 years and I'm blown away by how much they have leaned and grown from it! The instructors are amazing and truly embody the spirit and discipline of martial arts. Their foremost mission is to help the students develop both physical and mental strength and learn what it means to be successful. My only wish is they would do more leadership seminars, etc like they used to before the pandemic.“
“We have thoroughly enjoyed the experience my son has had here. Mr. RM is helpful and is great with all the kids. At Vision they strive not on success but more on growth and how to achieve success through discipline. I love the fact that the students are evaluated on how they perform at school, at home and at Vision. I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!“
“West Coast Martial Arts is amazing it was my first day tody and I'm looking forward to going again“
“The dojo moved to the new location. The new address is2230 Quimby Rd Suite A, San Jose, CA 95122“
“Wushu is an excellent place to promote social skills, develop discipline and conquer challenges that also help special needs children to learn over the course of time. My son had an excellent experience learning about martial arts. He was surrounded by great teachers who showed patience, enthusiasm and encouragement. Thank you for all your support and understanding.“
“Today I was in the AKA gym but Khabib was not. When you walk in there the smell of champions“
“I have practiced Taekwon-Do for 10 years, and it has changed my life. The environment is fun and Master Morris does a great job teaching us and helping us perfect our techniques. Taekwon-Do has taught me discipline, hard work, and overcoming challenges. They are adaptable with lots of times to choose from. Overall, Mightyfist is a great place to work out, practice Taekwon-Do, and have fun!“
“This has been an amazing program for my daughters, they love going and we have watched them learn and grow so much! They are learning more than just karate, they are learning life skills that they will have for the rest of their lives! We love their program!“
“We love Primetime! Our 4 year old has been taking the Kickin' Cubs class since January. We put him in the class to learn how to control his body and gain more confidence. We are already seeing a lot of growth. He is now unafraid to try new physical activities (like climbing a new play structure), and knows that hitting and kicking are saved for the right environment. My son loves Primetime so much that he wanted his birthday there. Beyond learning new skills and gaining confidence, we love the Primetime environment. The coaches know how to effectively talk to the kids, so they understand the directions and listen. The coaches are so supportive and kind. I also joined Primetime Fitness as a student. AJ teaches my classes. He gives the perfect amount of encouragement and direction. I always get a great burn from his classes (I'm usually sore after) and I have fun. Everyone I've met through the fitness class is supportive of each other - no matter their skill level. It's the first fitness environment where I don't feel judged for my body type or skill set. I actually look forward to class and have fun when I'm there. Primetime is truly a community and we're proud to be part of it.“
