“Eric and his crew were amazing. I recently had two very large and sick trees removed from my front yard and the landscaping there was non-existent. Eric listened to what I wanted and then drove me around to look at yards similar to what I wanted so I could get some ideas. Once I decided to proceed with Rayner Landscaping, Eric drew up a landscaping plan and a crew of six was out the next day. The entire project was complete in three days (would have been two days but we had to wait for a few of the plants that were not in stock). His crew prepared the area, removing all the wood chips from the tree removal, installed irrigation, and brought in soil, plants, rocks and mulch. They also replaced a fence and repaired our walkway to the house. Eric was there for a long time every day, even working with his crew, and he made sure everything was installed just right. They even pruned some of my other trees and cleaned up other areas of my yard without charging me extra. Can't say enough about their professionalism and attention to detail. Now I have a front yard I am proud of!“

“My garden was overgrown with weeds and really needed help. I interviewed 4 different landscaping companies and Bill had the best quote for the big job needed. He completely landscaped my garden according to my vision of having a sort of French country garden. He installed a drip irrigation system that continues to save water use several years hence. He also provides monthly upkeep and is always responsive to my phone calls. I don't know what happened with the prior customer review, but I know from my personal experience with Bill that he would give an honest response regarding feasibility of landscaping a garden for a reasonable cost. I wouldn't use anyone else as he has proven himself trustworthy over the three years he has worked on the upkeep of his design. I love driving up to my home and seeing the beautiful, lush garden surrounding it. It makes such a difference!“

“We needed a new deck so I had three deck companies come and give bids. All had good reviews on Yelp. All three had similar opinions on what would work, what we should avoid, and other considerations when it comes to how much we wanted to spend. In the end, all three bids had similar parameters, but Arrow came with the best price. Also, they could start quickly, within 2 weeks, while the other two wanted two months to start. The job took less than three weeks and it looks great. If I saw something I wanted to change, they did it immediately without any pushback. Within five weeks from the day I met Gary, I had a nice big brand new deck. Gary and I would text or call each other whenever he or I had a question. He was very responsive. Great service. During the final touches I was so impressed I asked Gary to give me a bid for a new set of stairs on the side of the house. “We hired Planted Earth to completely renovate the landscaping around our house in Oakland. This included design, demolition, earth removal, hardscaping (multiple retaining walls), decking, planting, lighting, and irrigation.The results were spectacular and working with Mick, Ann, Manuel, Carlos, and the various crews was great. Mick and Ann were attentive and hands on during the design phase, incorporating our ideas with their experience and helping us to understand the full process. They are holistic in their approach, considering soil condition, native plants, irrigation and drainage, and fitting into the local environment. They are clear to present the pros and cons of various decisions and didn't try to sell us extra work at any point.The build phase went as smoothly as possible. Planted Earth tries to work with the same crews as much as possible, building strong relationships with talented professionals. Everyone was kind and conscientious, even when our dog tried to apprentice himself as a landscaper. They gave us advance notice when work could be disruptive (e.g. concrete pour) and tried to minimize the disruption as much as possible. We always felt like we knew what was happening and where we were in the process.Planted Earth continued to be available as the work wound down and the new plants took. Small issues with irrigation, questions about plant care, etc. were addressed promptly. We feel like we have a personal relationship with Mick et al. and have recommended Planted Earth to our neighbors. We wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone with a residential landscaping/hardscaping project!“

“Not only great, quality work, but great service as well. The work took a little longer than expected but the end result was amazing. Hector, the onsite foreman was great to work with and was very open to any feedback we had. We worked with Roy as our PM. After doing multiple projects on our home, Roy by far sets the bar for service. Super proactive in reaching out to us, checking in on us throughout the project both in person and over the phone. Overall great experience (which can be rare with contractors) and great end result. Definitely recommend them!“

“We have worked with Zach and the team at G on two hardscape projects over the last five years. In both, we basically had the design vision, and Zach helped us refine it and execute on it. We are very pleased with the result of the projects, both of which have made our home more comfortable and enabled us to realize indoor-outdoor living. The projects included large poured concrete pads for the front walk, laying of prefabricated concrete pavers on the sideyard and back, a pergola and deck, and lighting, drainage, and the main irrigation lines throughout.Zach was very responsive, and his team leads knew their stuff and were very friendly easy to work with. The pavers on the side- and back-yard took longer than Zach had initially planned for, in part because this was a product his team had never worked with. Nonetheless, they stuck with it and did a good job with the grading and fulfilled our rather complicated design vision perfectly. Guests always comment on how nice the pavers look. Zach's team was also kind to all our established plants in the process, which is not always the case in hardscaping efforts. The team coordinated well with other contractors, too, as we had window replacements and fencing occurring at the same time.Both projects were very reasonable in their price given the labor involved.We highly recommend working with G on your next landscaping project!(*Note that messy plantings in the photos are fully our responsibility, not that of G).“

“Jose and his crew did a great job in our garden. We had 2 jobs. Pruning trees and bushes at the front and back of our property and installing a french drain around a garage. I found J&R on Yelp and rang them to ask for a quote. To put together the quote (for free), Jose turned up on time (unlike many other companies we had asked) and reviewed the project. Jose provided the quote quickly with adequate detail by text. His price was the most competitive and he was the most efficient in getting us the quote in hand. On the job itself, Jose and his team were respectful, on time, and tidy. They completed the work within 2 days and we're really happy with the quality of the work. “Dave & Roger and their crew did an amazing job. It's been a little over a year since he and his crew completely transformed our huge corner lot front and side yard of dead turf surrounded by a 30 - 40 year old privet hedge that had been improperly maintained for over a decade. Our yard is now a gorgeous, colorful, thriving, perennial garden oasis of meandering pathways. We did not want to lose the hedge due to the privacy it provides but it was horrendous looking and seemed beyond hope with mostly bare dead branches and being taken over by ivy. Dave's crew cut the entire hedge down to almost nothing leaving a single bare trunk for each tree/ shrub and with a new drip system installed, it has grown back & filled in better than we ever thought possible. It was a major part of the job and they did an amazing job renovating our hedge. Dave is very knowledgable about plants and their growth habits and how they will look once mature and which plants will grow best in any given section of the yard based on sun exposure. After he was done, he walked us through the entire yard and told us the botanical name of each & every plant and described how it would grow and what color flowers it would have. We spend a lot of time in our garden now with our dogs and they love it as much as we do. Dave installed a simple wire fence- 4 ft high that is hidden by the hedge and safely contains the dogs in our yard so they can meander & frolic chasing faeries, butterflies & bees. We had interviewed about 6 other companies and love how the yard turned out. I do need to mention the reason I docked 1 star: we didn't like the attitude and being scolded for doing things in our own garden without asking for Dave's permission. We found ourselves asking, "Should we ask Dave first" or "Do you think Dave will get mad?" LOL! There's far worse things that one could complain about besides having a knowledgable landscaper who puts his whole heart & soul into each job so if we had known that about him before hiring him, we'd definitely choose him for the job.“

“Rainbow Landscape did a fantastic job installing artificial grass on our front lawn, starting with removing our grass lawn. They were extremely responsive, quick with a quote, and were able to fit our smaller project in between larger jobs. (They're getting busy now, with the drought.) The lawn looks absolutely beautiful, and they started and finished it the same day. The crew is also experienced and professional, and prices were fair.“

“My swimming pool coping had been damaged while resurfacing my pool deck. A few pool companies were contacted and were either unresponsive or unable to perform the work. Don Johnson's Pool Service recommended that I contact Petty Masonry. They were very friendly and agreed to come out the next day. Tom submitted a very reasonable proposal and had the work completed 2 days later. During these Covid times, contractors are very hard to get and often won't commit to a quick response. Petty Masonry was quite the opposite. Timely, professional and friendly. The work done was excellent. They even patched a broken concrete step while they were here, matching the existing concrete texture exactly. I'm know their scope goes way deeper than pool coping or a concrete patch, but I would not hesitate to call them again.“

“This is the coolest secret hangout in Mill Valley. Such a special place to pop in and chill, or bring a friend and enjoy a cup of tea and a game. Not only are there several really cool chill spaces, there seems to be an endless supply of tea and sometimes cookies that just magically appear. The art installations are top notch. What a unique find and creative idea, we are so lucky to have a place like this. It's kinda hard to explain, so just go check it out for yourself and you'll see what I mean.“
