“At age 66 this is my first time doing any real fitness training. I was always an outside work out person or took yoga classes. But I decided that I needed to round out my fitness routine and was referred to The Nomad Gym by my physical therapist after a minor injury.
I am so glad I found The Nomad Gym-it is perfect and has far exceeded my expectations. Every week my trainer, Allie, comes up with something different. It is never boring, always something I can handle (even if I think I can't) and serious but oh so friendly, welcoming and down to earth. The Nomad Gym is wonderful!!“

K Taekwondo - Glendale Martial Arts Schools

“We absolutely love K Taekwondo! Instructor Heather is great with kids endlessly patient, warm, and incredibly engaging. She connects with them so naturally while still holding high standards.

Master Josh is outstanding. He’s motivating, encouraging, and incredibly thorough in how he explains techniques and expectations. What really stands out is how much he genuinely cares about each student improving, no matter where they’re starting from. He meets them where they are and pushes them to grow.

Since starting, my son’s confidence has really grown, and he listens so much better both in and out of class. He’s only 4 and looks forward to class. Great outlet for high energy kids! We’re beyond grateful for the positive impact and highly recommend K Taekwondo!“

“My kid has been in their program for a few months now and while he's had to put in a lot of work, the senseis are very good at teaching the kids and being patient. It's been very helpful for my child's attitude and attention.

Also, they just came in third at the Las Vegas tournament, which included dojos from 12 different countries.“

Combatives Academy Martial Arts Schools

“Fantastic classes and top notch instruction where you can learn real, applicable and effective self defense techniques in a controlled and ego-free environment. A rare find these days. I initially found combatives academy when searching for a Filipino martial arts school for knife/weapons defense and fighting. I figured I carry a knife so may as well learn how to use it. After just the first class I was shocked at how much I didn't know (in a good way). Sifu Raffi has a very calm, detailed and easy to follow way of teaching. He's also a very talented martial artist which was obvious to me after seeing just a few demonstrations of techniques. So many self defense situations involve a weapon even on one side. Knives, baseball bats etc. This art really covers a lot of things. I have previously trained in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.I asked about the Jeet Kune Do classes and the instructor recommended I take this, along with my Escrima classes to have a complete system as the hand to hand translates well over to the weapons. After the JKD class I took a few weeks later, I was very impressed with how complete of a martial art it was. In one class we covered some effective strikes as well as a few grappling moves. Each technique was shown in detail and we were given ample time to really practice it and get it right with a training partner. An all encompassing art like JKD is really what you need for self defense. It's also a fantastic workout along with stretching, etc. The JKD along with Escrima covers all the bases for me, effective striking, grappling, distance control plus weapons use and defense. I would highly recommend trying the 2 free classes if you're on the fence! Hopefully I'll try a Silat class in the future and can update my review with that aspect.“

Seido Karate Hollywood Dojo Martial Arts Schools

“I’ve been training at the Hollywood Dojo for over 10 years. I’m now a 3rd degree black belt. I started training the weekend I moved to LA from Chicago and was immediately welcomed into the family that is this dojo. Sei Shihan John and Veronica have helped me grow spiritually, personally, and professionally over the years and though I’ve moved from Hollywood to Gardena (5 years ago), I still make the trip 2xs a week to train, center myself, and be with family. It is a traditional style, focused on technique and spirit, and acknowledges a traditional way of honoring the practice and your training partners and teachers (bowing). I cannot recommend Seido Karate and this dojo enough.“

“I began taking weekly classes with Master Sun seven months ago. My weekly private lessons with Master Sun and my new daily tai chi practice has helped me immensely in increasing body awareness, building mobility and strength, decreasing anxiety, and being more mindful. As a climber and weight lifter, Tai Chi is the perfect accompaniment to my other fitness activities - it’s helped me in both of these areas while allowing me to increase my focus, mobility, breath control, form, and balance.Master Sun is an excellent teacher and is truly committed to his craft. He provides clear guidance during our lessons and sets a strong intention for every movement, sequence, and form. I’ve learned SO MUCH in just seven months via our time spent focused on 24 and 48 short forms, as well as many other individual movements and stretches.Tai chi focuses heavily on the kinesthetic senses, a skill that has pushed me to increase my body awareness and memorization of body movements more than I’ve ever done before. Master Sun is extremely helpful during the memorization process and breaks down each movement and sequence slowly and clearly while assisting with understanding intention, energy projection, breath-work, and good technique. He’s also clear in demonstrating how to move and how to project intention (“hold a ball”, “reach forward”, “press down on a table”, touch the ceiling”, etc) which makes it easier to visualize and memorize the movements while understanding the internal tension and release that is crucial throughout the practice of tai chi.Master Sun is talented, kind, and patient. I am grateful to have him as a teacher and I look forward to many years of expanding my tai chi practice with his guidance!I recommend that everyone tries tai chi! Master Sun is the best teacher you can find. He’s a true master.Final thoughts: The Tai Chi Academy is always very clean and quiet. There’s plenty of parking in the back of the building. Master Sun is always timely and gives you his complete focus during the lesson.“

TMAX - San Marino Martial Arts Schools

“I’m a black belt here at TMAX, and my experience here for the past 4+ years has been nothing but great! The instructors are always nice and they do an astounding job at handling the super loud toddlers that keep screaming “6-7.” In most cases, this is just a fun thing for your kid to do while you go out and do fun things without the burden of a child holding you back; but kids that are serious about Taekwondo WILL get really good thanks to the help of the masters. Many of my peers here have the most amazing kicks, and morale is always high. Whether you want to get some great levels of discipline, great skills in martial arts, or just have something fun to do, then TMAX is the right place for you!“

Dartanian Jiu-Jitsu Martial Arts Schools

“This is where it all started for me. I knew my family would benefit from BJJ but not to the degree of being able to crossing over into adding value in mind, soul and body. Professor Dartanian Bagby is extremely passionate and knowledgeable in BJJ. He teaches with precise accuracy. This is special because whether you are a first time learner or someone with years of experience- he will help you bring up your game and confidence considerably. When you find your way to training with Professor D, know that is a special and unique gift.“
