I was very pleased to find a general practitioner through the Polyclinic whom I liked. She referred me to Dr. Menda for a routine eye check. My original appointment in November 2023 was unremarkable beyond the entire staff being very young and unengaged. I took my glasses prescription to Costco to have it filled at Menda's suggestion. I wore the glasses for some time before I concluded that I would not adjust and in fact, I was seeing double. I took the glasses back to Costco and they confirmed they had filled the prescription as written. When I contacted Menda's office to get the prescription adjusted I was treated like I was trying to pull something off on them and I would have to pay for the appointment again. The staff was rude and arrogant and there was no sense of personal accountability. After more than one phone call, the staff hang up on me. When I called my GP I was given a number for "patient services." Patient Services is a recorded line in which one leaves a prolonged detailed recorded message with the promise that someone will get back to you. No one from patient services got back to me but I got a call from a tech in Menda's office who promised he could rectify my problem. He was apologetic. I visited the office a second time. The staff was rude and literally laughed at me. The technician confirmed the prescription was wrong but told me I would have to make yet another appointment with the doctor because only she could change the prescription. The staff continued to be rude and hung up on me again as I attempted to make an appointment. Mind, I expressed my exasperation at their lack of professionalism but I did not act in a way that would warrant their treatment of me. I called another patient help number and received a text message back referring me to other optometrists. My quandary - I recognize I'm only talking about a pair of glasses here but I am looking at some significant health issues in the future. This company not only accepts substandard behavior from its employees and does not indicate any need to offer any kind of personal accountability from its professionals, they offer no real way to contact any patient services for intervention. I am thinking I need a new general GP outside the Polyclinic because I cannot trust the administration of the company with a more serious problem.
I went for an appointment in gastroenterology for which I had waited months. I checked in, and was placed in a room, ready for the doc, whenI was told my medicare advantage plan was no longer accepted.1 - I knew they were in negotiations, but had received a message that my date was still in affect. If it wasn't, why hadn't they CALLED so this 80 years didn't have to trudge through the snow for nothing! 2 - In fact it is still in effect - until the 23rd of this month. But the wait for a new appointment is two or three months. 3 - according to my insurance company, I was covered and would have been covered anyway due to some declared rules because of covid. 4 -- This is the most important - their phone system ishorrid! You get one number (1760) to call, and then the catch me if you camgame begins. Some operates are wonderful once you finally get them, butthe customer service representatives must be fed lemons all day. Rude, argumentative, and stop just short of saying "I don't care." I love my GP,but may never set foot in a polyclinic office again. They could have avoidedmy making a formal complaint thru my insurance if they had just not wastedthree hours of my time and been a bit nice about the fact I now have to wait several months again.
