“My elderly mom had all-on-four implants done in Romania for permanent dentures just prior to the pandemic. When the flight ban was issued, she couldn’t fly back there for the 6 month follow up and the temporary upper denture broke. One implant became infected and had to be removed. When the flight ban was finally lifted, she went back to Romania to replace the missing implant and had to wait an additional 6 months for that to heal before permanent dentures could be placed.We were so tired of the time and expense of “globe trotting” and given that a second temporary denture broke we started looking closer to home for solutions. We were referred to Smile Solutions by the local oral surgeon that removed the infected implant (Harbor Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons- also a great place!). Immediately, we felt the warm professionalism of this team (Dr. Heydari, Rafael, Ina) and were so impressed with their services and products. The temporary denture was promptly repaired and we decided to complete our care here (get fitted for permanent dentures). Most unfortunately for us, the implant choice of the Romanian surgeon was a discontinued French brand that was incompatible with the materials here. The administrative team at Smile Solutions (shout-out to Heather!) must have combed the entire planet for these implant caps, including Quebec and France. After multiple repairs of the temporary denture (kept breaking) we knew we had no choice but to return to Romania for the final step of the process. Our bad luck streak continued however, and the permanent dentures placed abroad did not even last two weeks after getting home (upper denture chipping away revealing an implant). We went back to Smile Solutions to repair the other denturist’s work, which they did beautifully, however it did not last long term (I blame the material, not Smile Solutions). We are now looking at starting the process over to get a set of quality dentures and would like to go with Smile Solutions. After traveling the world in search of affordable permanent dentures, we have found that the solution has always been right here at home. I highly recommend this place and just wish we would have discovered it sooner!For those looking abroad for cost-savings, in the end, if you factor in unanticipated complications and the need for extra trips, you are better off or the same financially as staying home for your dental needs. Moreover, you can take comfort in the expertise and materials used here and having a reliable long-term provider-patient relationship for future needs.“
