Kevin, Art, and the crew are some of the nicest people around. They've serviced our household's cars for years now (and within the last few weeks), and I'm grateful to have them as our mechanics. They are honest, experienced, their prices are reasonable, and their customer service is outstanding! I feel completely comfortable taking my car there.
The kindness and guidance we received from Erika during our 15-year-old husky Desmond's end of life was truly outstanding. Erika did a 2-hour consultation with us and helped us understand the full scope of our options, letting us guide the process and supporting us in feeling confident during what was one of the most difficult periods of decision-making of our lives. She ultimately helped Desmond pass peacefully, outside and at home while we were with him. She treated him with the respect and dignity he deserved, and honored our bond with him to the very last moment. Thank you, Dr. Bruner, for helping him - and us. We whole-heartedly recommend her services to any pet owners in Central Vermont. Saying goodbye is impossibly difficult, but having the option to do so at home and ensure the pet's comfort is the ultimate gift.

My husband and I were in the area for the week and stepped into Emslie's on a whim. What a lovely store! The ladies who helped us were so friendly and kind, and our whim turned into walking out with a locally-made dried flower wreath, a scarf (which I'm currently using as a fall throw), and some lovely handmade earrings. This is a wonderful source for fresh flowers, unique gifts, and just a brightening of your day.
Popped in and within 15 minutes they had made a stunning little bouquet. ? the recipient has literally shared 4-5times how much she loves it and even sent a picture, which I wish I could post. Thank you for your great service ?
The woman who cut my hair,I believe her name was Susan,did a fantastic job matching the photo that I showed her. She even fine-tuned it to better match my face. She's also a good conversationalist. The prices are low and atmosphere laid back. I hate getting haircuts,but this was a good experience.
Did a great job watching our dog. We're very responsive to emails. First time our dog came home from boarding and didn't sulk for days . He was also nicely brushed and obviously well cared for. Will definitely use them again.
We are extremely pleased with our entire experience at Rock N Paws. Our golden came home with a perfect trim, clipped nails and such a silky coat! We will certainly be back!!
There's a big difference between a tattooer and one that is also an artist. Lila has that magic combination of intuition and skill that you can't really put into words - she's a true artist. All of her pieces are meticulously detailed down to the most minute element. Just look at the portfolio...She's super professional and honest - if something won't look good, she'll tell you. And then she'll tell you what will work instead. Who wouldn't want that kind of honestly in a person? She's patient yet fast, fun to talk to, and her shop is like stepping into a natural history museum of curiosities. Totally great vibe and completely worth the trip if you live far away. It wouldn't occur to me to go anywhere else. People stop me to ask about my beautiful artwork and I always say LILA AT ROCK CITY IN BARRE, VT! I'm so lucky to have found you and can't wait to come back!!

They came highly recommended from others but they weren't bothered to answer the phone or return my calls to get an estimate.
Edit: Maybe I'm being slightly harsh but most companies in Vermont don't return phone calls or you never get estimates when promised. It's EXTREMELY frustrating when I spend hours doing research looking for dependable local companies and they aren't bothered to ever call back after leaving messages. Half the people I called for estimates weren't bothered to call us back (in an entire month I might add) but half of them responded to negative reviews on Google within a few hours.
I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt since your response was a masterclass at how to deal with people and sounded genuine.

Just had my hair cut for the first time by Angie. I've only ever had my mom cut my hair (retired stylist), however, I moved across the country from her and needed to find a new stylist. Angie was calming and professional. I didn't give her much direction because I didn't really know what I wanted. She did an excellent job with the few ideas I gave her. I will be going back when the time comes to shape it up.

Excellent service. They replaced one of our 10 pound fire extinguishers, and I was expecting to pay a premium price because it was delivered and installed. It ended up costing less than the same extinguisher would’ve cost at Home Depot. The service from Hunter at Vermont Fire Extinguisher has been excellent. He has serviced two of our locations now, each on two different occasions, and is knowledgeable, polite, and the pricing is fair.

Armada’s is great Mexican food consistently! We eat there regularly. Service is courteous and efficient. Prices reasonable. Hope they bring back the chipotle salsa side option. ;-)

I am a support driver for a bicycle touring group, beginning our first day in Burlington. Got ready to leave this morning and my Penske truck would not start...dead battery. After Roadside Assistance got involved, it was going to take 2 hours to get me help. Lucky for me, the only person that was willing to help on Sunday morning was Paul with LaRoche Towing! He called, then hurried over to jumpstart me, found an auto parts store, bought the battery and replaced it for me!!! He was amazing!!! He went above and beyond to help me get to my lunch destination in time to serve the cyclists lunch!!!! Many many thanks to Paul!!!!
I love this place. It's family operated & has been in Barre for at least 70 years. They do all the work themselves, quality workmanship at a reasonable price.
