“I spent 20 years getting haircuts at Navy barbershops and the last 20 years going to “Stylists”at Supercuts and Great Clips…BUT…

I found a traditional barber with Misty Castro (Castros V in Newport News)…and am never going back! Yes, it is a bit more expensive but it’s more of an experience…the conversation is engaging, her skill is undeniable, and you walk away refreshed!

“This is my go-to barbershop in the "hood." It's a meeting spot for most elderly gentlemen who love to converge to chew the fat on the corner of 26th and Marshall Avenue in the City of Newport News, VA.

David Doan, owner, is a down-to-earth brother, who gives all of his customers a fair chance. He's a philanthropist and a no-nonsense people-person.

If I'm not mistaken, He may be the only licensed barber. However, several of the barber chairs are made available for apprentice individuals who may be furthering his/her vocational skills in the barbering business. He trains his staff well and ensures that they are meeting state and regulatory standards and protocols.

Usually, David, can get a customer in and out of his chair in less than 20 minutes, depending on the cut. He's fast, accurate, and pays attention to detail, while not charging his customers an arm and a leg.

“Today was my son’s 6th birthday, and for a few days now he had been saying he wanted his haircut short. So I let him, I took to the internet to find a barber, I looked for one who had done kids hair, and did a good job. I came across The Executive Barber Shop, and then I found Jose’s profile. He had had cut kids hair and the pictures looked great. So I scheduled an appointment for my son. The app they have makes it convenient, you can schedule your appointment, pay and tip all in one place. The shop was aesthetically pleasing, it was minimal, and clean. Everyone was nice. Jose made this experience great for both me and my son. This is my last baby, and him getting his haircut made me cry. Our babies never stay babies long enough Jose treated my baby so well while he was in his chair. My son was all smiles during the whole cut. And after we left he said his haircut felt good. Lol
I highly recommend Jose! And I will be coming back to Jose for all of my boys! I should have tipped more, That was my only regret. Since you are charged an hour before your appointment, I had no idea what to expect. But after we left I wanted to tip Jose more because the work he did deserved it. Unfortunately the app doesn’t allow you to tip additional after the service. Hopefully they allow you to do so in the future.

I highly recommend The Executive Barber Shop to everyone! I was also actively watching the rest of the barbers and they were all so awesome! Everyone walked away looking clean cut, with awesome edge ups.

“This place is great, especially if you need facial hair care in addition to regular haircuts. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Conversations generally are open and people don't act like you don't belong in a conversation. To the specific service of haircut and facial hair services this place does a great job. I personally see Alexandria and she cares about what I want and doesn't rush the conversation to understand. The entire experience is relaxing and comforting. She applies warm towels and products prior to shaving. Her cuts are top quality and extreme attention to detail is made to lining everything up, trimming eyebrows, ensuring my beard is clean looking. I especially like the straight razor to shave and line this up. I look forward to these appointments and I walk out feeling great. I highly recommend this place and Alexandria specifically. However it looks like you could be happy with any of the professionals here.“
