I’ve been going to Virginia Parkway Pet Hospital since Dr Reno took over the practice about 10 years ago. Dr Reno has cared for our English and French Bulldogs and given them outstanding care. Our little Frenchie has an on-going medical issue which has been very challenging to diagnose, manage and care for but Dr Reno has been tireless in her pursuit to help her and to offer treatment options. Dr Reno is very knowledgeable, spends as much time as you’d like explaining what’s going on with your pet and truly cares for your pet. Het office staff is friendly and helpful, particularly Rachel. I can not recommend her more. Five stars!

I've been taking my four dogs to Virginia Parkway for many years. I've been happy with the service there and appreciated how attentive the doctors are during appointments. At one point, I started taking my dogs elsewhere out of personal convenience. During an exam at the other clinic, we noticed my boxer had what appeared to be a mass on one of her back toes. The doctor did a needle aspirate, but the results were inconclusive- she recommended we amputate her toe since she had had one mast cell tumor previously. This seemed extreme so I brought my boxer back to Virginia Parkway for a 2nd opinion. Dr. Pena and Dr. Reno noticed that she was walking a bit off and this was putting extra pressure on that toe. They did additional diagnostics suspecting that her toe was merely inflamed. Sure enough, the results came back with inflammatory cells, and no mast cells. She had changed her walk due arthritis pain and that resulted in her toe becoming swollen. We got her on pain medications and her walk corrected and her toe returned to normal. Because they did a thorough physical and didn't just focus on my complaint without looking at the whole picture, we were spared an unnecessary surgery. I wouldn't choose any other clinic as their primary clinic, no matter the convenience. I also think it's worth mentioning that Virginia Parkway does a lot of work with a large rescue, so they see a lot of unique health cases. I think this helps contribute to the doctors' experience and knowledge, and then those experiences benefit my dogs when they present with something unusual (which they have unfortunately). Dr. Reno also has a great working relationship with specialists in the Dallas area- I know this because my dogs have also had to have specialized surgeries and have been seen by an internal medicine specialist that she referred us to. I would recommend Virginia Parkway Pet Hospital to anyone in McKinney. I know sometimes there is a wait but that's true of any clinic nowadays, and if it's not an emergency, the doctors at Virginia Parkway are worth waiting for. They typically do the exams in the treatment area since they are already back there to get samples, which some people may not like but I think it helps with getting a more thorough physical exam and the doctor always goes over their exam findings when they bring my dogs back. We've had experience with Dr. Reno, Dr. Pena, and Dr. Studdard and I would be happy to have any of them treat my dogs.

I love this vet Susan. She is amazing to have! I can ask her a question about my pet and she is so good that she can almost tell me exactly what is wrong! Without a picture. I asked her about a cat that was limping , I figure maybe a fracture she told me check her nails. I did and yes it was it! I am amazed at her expertise! She is awesome.
