We had a new roof installed in 2009. I was happy at the time with the price and service. For many yearsafter Installation though we had continual leaks on our rear porch roof. They were very responsive to coming out for repairs but the repairs were always temporary. I remember the leaks were frequently blamed on a clogged gutter. We even went as far as removing the gutter. The leaks continued. Well fast forward 13 yrs later and the roof is now out of warranty. We finally had another company out to inspectthe roof, we should have done that while we were having all the problems in retrospect. We were told that the shingles should not have been installed over the original planking. WeHave an old home, 1940's and they used planking in the day. Apparently shingles will eventually break or crack when not installed over a smooth surface like plywood. My husband said atThe time ofinstallation he asked about the need for replacing any wood and wasToldOnly if it was bad and needed to be. I've researched how roofing is usually installed and I can't find any evidence of any codes been broken in the way the roof was initially installed. It appears that maybe things changed around 2012depending around what county you live in. My dissatisfaction and unhappiness is in the fact that we had all those service calls while the roof was under warranty and it was never fixed permanently or even suggested that it could've been done differently to begin with. My husband has since also discovered that the original leaks were caused by broken shingles that had been caulked over and never replaced. That caulking has failed and is still causing leaks. So now only 13 yrs in Im faced with replacing a roof I can't afford to. My husband is now disabled on top of things making finances even more tight. Afterfinding out that the roof was out of warranty and the real reason for the leaks the company will not contact me back.I realize it is out of warranty on their partAnd they have no further responsibilityto me. I just feel I've been left hanging with no options.

Epitome in patience. I called and requested an estimate to have my house quoted for a roof. I received voicemail when I called but someone returned my call within 15 minutes. We scheduled an appt for inspection and quote and I wrote it down on the wrong day, a day later. me Being 30 minutes away he agreed to show up the next morning. He got a ladder out and inspected my roof and gave what I call a fair estimate (3500 under competion). He answered all my questions and based on his feedback and the amount I hired them on the spot. Here's where it get's tricky. I found out I had a honey be nest in the eve of the second floor easily 15' off the ground. I told them this would likely be an issue and they agreed to put the job on hold. I could not get ANYONE to remove the bees even exterminating them(which I didn't want to do). I wound up learning about bee's, buying a lift and did the job myself and the bees are now in a hive on my property, this took 3 months. I called them up and they said "we can be there next wednesday" and showed up when they said they would. Because of the pitch of my roof and multiple levels it took them 2 days. I stopped by the office and paid for my roof and received my warranty and completed bill in the mail a couple of days later.

I hired Heartland Roofing to put a new roof on my house and I am glad I did. My neighbor went with another company and the difference between how that company works and how Heartland works is huge. I have a lifetime warranty (my neighbor does not), my yard was cleaned well (my neighbor had to have her company out 2 more times to clean up), and I have the better looking roof. And it sounds like I got a pretty good deal with Heartland, considering what my neighbor paid for her roof. A big Thank you to Heartland. I will recommend them.
