“I needed repairs on 2 doors. Old locks, sticking locks, misaligned plates, deadbolts. I contacted Sherlock’s via a Google message symbol, leaving a message about 5:30p on Tuesday. Later on Weds about 3:30 I had not heard from them. I got a feeling this Google message symbol (via Google) may get not be working. So, I reached out to Sherlock’s. Immediately the young lady on the phone offered me an appt on Thursday 12-2 afternoon. I told her that did not work, I was in no rush tho and Friday world be ok. She then asked if Thursday or Friday 10-12 in morning worked. I told her-Thursday would be great.<br>She said the tech would call me 30 mins prior to arrival. Thursday morning arrived and the tech contacted me at 10:01 and he was on his way. Arrived about 10:30. So far so good I thought! He arrived and was professional, pleasant, thorough w his evaluation and showed me a thing on our very old door that we had not been seeing. A lil button of sorts that had to be pressed in or out and this would work both deadbolt and the other lock. He said we did not need another/new lock. We discussed options like keyless entry, new lock, strike plates, but he said just a lil oil would get things moving better and there was no additional charge-it was included w the service call. Great! I showed him our next old door….this needed some work as there was a crack in the wood, old plates not a good alignment. Again, we discussed options. He laid everything out clearly for me with what he could, would do w a new knob/lock and I would be paying for the knob/lock system Simple enough. He spent time drilling/expanding the wood around the hole to get things lined up. Fixing, filing old pieces of metal plate—he was very thorough! He made sure all doors, locks, knobs, latches were working before he presented the bill. He did a walk thru to make sure I, too could work these locks. Total was $140. Service call price and new hardware for my 2nd door.<br>We had wonderful, professional conversation and service from Tom. Who was the owner! I can honestly say this is one of the best services companies I have ever had since living in Pittsburgh! Tom made sure the job was done right and to my needs/specs. He was up front about what he would/could do and the price. He was on time, thorough, and happy. He enjoys his work and the company he has started owns/operates! Everything was excellent from his in office appt setter to his job completion. We discussed the Google icon 4 messaging as I wanted him to know there might be a glitch w Google. So, if anyone uses this icon and you do not hear from Sherlock’s, definitely take the min to call the company direct.<br>I am very glad I did.<br>I can also say-I did reach out to another company late Weds via this Google icon and I thought I might need a back up plan. Same thing happened, this other company did not get my message (as now 4 days later/no call from them). So, I believe a glitch lies w this format to reaching businesses. Tom mentioned it is a newer feature from Google. So, plz, realize it is an app issue w Google and call Sherlock’s. I mention it b/c sometimes customers use it and if no call back, they move on to next company thinking 1st option is not a good company. This is definitely not the case w Sherlock’s. Excellent service all the way around. I would use them again if a need arises and I will certainly recommend them to anyone.<br>I truly believe some companies lack good customer service w/bad phone manners or unpleasant techs or unhappy techs.<br>Sherlock’s is the best w all those things! It is nice to see a company in 2024 w a young owner who is putting customers 1st, hiring people & training these ppl to have GREAT people skills. “Top-notch. I got a few keys cut and was in and out of there in 5 minutes. Super friendly, funny pictures on the wall to read while you wait, 1 or 2 parking spots available for customers. The lock I needed duplicate keys for is apparently pretty old but they still had what I needed.“

“I'll give them 4 stars for existing, because it turns out, it is very hard to find a locksmith with a brick-and-mortar store where you can take a modern (switchblade) car key to be duplicated. They did this, but it was not without a little weirdness. When I walked in I said I brought my own key blank to make the copy. They rustled around and said they may not have the update for 2024 yet, and I assumed that meant software. Couple people later, and a trip out to the truck to check on it, and they said they found the right blank - which looked significantly different from my key. So they cut a key with it; it didn't fit into my ignition; and at that point they were like, sorry, we don't have that blank. OK... I said can you try making one with my blank (from ebay). The guy responded with something about not wanting to ruin it (?). I said, go ahead. So they made one with my blank and it worked fine and they charged me the full price. But it was weird how they completely ignored me when I said I brought my own blank, and it turned out to be the only thing that worked.“
