Like many homes in the area, age has caused everything in our house, including floors, walls, and door openings, to go slightly off-kilter. David is always keenly aware of the special issues that an older home presents when repairs or renovations are involved. He replaced our ugly, drafty, metal front door with a beautiful triple pane glass and wood door; he patiently figured out how to hang the new door properly in our slanted door opening. He also replaced a slipshod folding closet door that had been installed during an earlier renovation with a set of bespoke solid wood doors. David seems to take great joy in tracking down the perfect crystal doorknob or time-period appropriate moulding to make our house look its best. (He is also good at reparing damage inflicted on that beautiful moulding by exuberant puppies). I highly recommend David!“

“I chose Cottage Industries for a project based on their commitment to the community and on glowing reports from friends. The key component of the project was a sunroom addition replacing a late 1950s attached greenhouse. In addition, the existing roof, siding, and windows on the house itself were reaching the end of their life spans. These items were added to the project along with some new exterior details. It was a pleasure working with Adam, Nick, and project manager, Tim. The design/build concept streamlined the process. The additional exterior work resulted in a seamless transition to the new addition. Cottage encourages communication. I don't think a day went by when I did not receive a text with updates. “We had what looked like clogged older half-round gutters around our porch. The gutter caps were not working that well, and there looked like overflow stains coming down our siding. When contacting gutter contractors, we were advised to get new gutters at a very pricey cost. I needed some professional advice. I called James Grogan. He came right away, and he agreed to clean the gutters, check the caps, and give advice on any next steps. When doing the work, he saw they were not clogged, but he found the original installers many years ago and put a rock between the end of the gutters next to the house to prevent material from getting encased there. He repaired that area the way it should have been done and adjusted the caps to work properly. Problem solved. Tons of money saved. James is a long-time professional who knows gutters. If you have questions about your gutters, I recommend calling James.“
