“I’ve worked out for years with HIIT and strength based training. I sought Barre3 out for a change up in my workout routine. Well I definitely found it! I got my booty handed to me during the first class! My body felt like I used all the stabilization muscles I hadn’t touched in years. All the instructors are great! There are always modifications to moves. It’s a very nonjudgmental, welcoming environment. Five stars all the way!“
“Dorothy is a fabulous Pilates teacher. She pays attention to every detail, whether it's what is ailing her students on any given day or ways that we can use our bodies to get more out of a movement. She corrects precisely but non-judgmentally. She knows her craft and seems to take great pleasure in sharing the benefits of Pilates with others.“
“The Lake Oswego YogaSix community is truly unmatched. From the knowledgable teachers to the kind staff, my day is certainly not complete without taking some kind of yoga class here. I love the variety of classes offered throughout the day and the studio is consistently clean and well managed. I'm always introducing friends to this specific studio because I truly want everyone to experience the gift that is YogaSix!“
“Although every place has its quirks, the benefits of coming here significantly outweigh any drawbacks. I've been attending this location on and off for the last ten years, adjusting my membership based on changes to my schedule. I appreciate the hygiene protocol here that requires wiping down equipment after use. While not everyone is thorough, I make a concerted effort because I believe in karma. For the sake of honesty, my only true issue with this studio--and with basically any yoga, Pilates, or barre class in Portland--is that they can feel crowded or even overcrowded sometimes, which diminishes the grounding aspect of the experience for me. Jo is my favorite instructor because of her distinctive approach and welcoming nature. She makes a point of greeting everyone, even if they're attending another instructor's class. During sessions, she actively corrects forms and explains the reasons behind her adjustments. Her charming and clever expressions only enhance the experience. She genuinely cares for everyone present. Unfortunately, I can't take her classes currently due to a change in my schedule but if I had my old schedule, I'd sign up for hers right away. A close second favorite would be Kerri. This place feels like a blend of physical therapy and fitness, providing a beneficial yet gentle workout. It's refreshing to leave a session feeling satisfied without the frustration of needing an additional workout to truly feel like you've had a strength session.“
“Kelli is hands down one of my favorite people!! I met her when I started Pilates for the first time with her about two years ago. I had mixed feeling about Pilates and wasn’t sure it was for me as I’ve always lifted weights and done cardio instead. I am absolutely obsessed with it!!! She has been with me now through a broken ankle and hip surgery and I am stronger then I ever was doing the other exercises. Our workouts are never the same and always as challenging or easy as my body needs them to be. I actually quit physical therapy for both incidents because the knowledge and experience Kelli brings to the reformer is insane. I healed quicker and better with her. I cannot recommend her and Total Body Pilates enough. Plus I came out with a best friend who I adore!“
“Jonathan did a great massage. He was very knowledgeable about the relationship between the body, muscles, and fascia. My lower back was feeling tight prior to the massage; but afterwards was feeling a lot more loose. After the appointment, he sent materials over email regarding various exercises I could do to help my back“
“Love working with Dorothy at Springwater Pilates Studio in SE Portland! Great workout! She's experienced, offers modifications & clear explanations of the exercises in our group reformer class. The studio is very clean and easy parking. Highly Recommend!!!“
“Lynn is the most amazing and inspirational coach you will find. She tailors your workouts to your individual needs and goals. No judgment about your skill level and no hard selling. She's really devoted to helping you be more healthy and strong. I've worked with her 2-3 times per week for over 3 years and can't say enough about how much I enjoy her sessions. Do yourself a favor and book a session today.“
“Going to Portland Parks & Rec yoga classes for years, I finally spoke up to a yoga instructor about tightness in my hips that has made me wonder "why can't I bend at the hips like other people?"I have never done any "alternative therapy" healing or any healing because I successfully care for myself, am healthy, on no medications and have only seen a doctor once in the last 30 years for an injured knee.Well, the instructor praised Shelly Stephenson as a resource. Wow! What a smart, knowledgeable, good-humored, effective, disciplined and down-to-earth practitioner! That Shelly (in a former life) was an accomplished dancer lends factual credence that she knows the human anatomy, not just from books, coursework and clinical settings, but also from her personal artist-athlete experience.I did 10 structural integration sessions with Shelly, and Shelly did all the work. My body flows like it hasn't flowed since I was a teenager. One day, after a session with Shelly, I noticed that I take short little steps when briskly walking, and realized that was my bodys learned compensation for deficiencies elsewhere and I could now take longer strides with ease. I had never had that perspective before. On the basketball court, for the first time, I could dribble between my legs as the length of my stride was enough to now allow the ball to pass through. That was another recognition that my body has changed, more optimally, its relationship with itself. And yoga? In the mirrors, though I see some poses done well, many more difficult asanas are now accomplished better and I have much more grace of movement and range of motion. I feel good.I am hip.And for you, if Shelly sees that a different approach will be better, she will gladly refer you to someone of quality she knows in the vast world of Portland's healing modalities. She is honest, practical and insightful. I am glad I went to her, the whole experience left quite a positive impression on me.Thank you, Shelly.“
“I really enjoy attending Thrive classes. I have tried all of the yoga related classes and the BodyWise movement class. All are phenomenal and offer different experiences. I would have to say Mary's Vinyasa classes really stand out, and she is such a kind instructor. Rachel, the owner and instructor for Foundations and the BodyWise classes is such a fantastic person. She makes the space feel welcoming for everyone, and truly cares about everyone that walks through her doors.I do the monthly membership and it is worth it. I plan being a member for a long-time to come.Thank you everyone at Thrive for making the experience amazing. I am so grateful my yoga journey led me here.“
“Yoga riot is a welcoming, cozy space with a great community of teachers and students! My body always feels great after class and the teachers are sure to remind everyone to make any modifications needed. The space is small so be prepared to sweat close to strangers!“
“Small class size and personal attention with varied exercises from class to class. Focus on proper Pilates techniques is always stressed. ?“
