“They say first impressions are everything. South Shore Animal Hospital has gained my trust. I am a new dog owner with a currently 6 month old Black Lab Mix named Luke. I had been looking to get established with a Vet and had been doing some research. But when Luke had some issues that needed attention I started frantically calling places to be met with a lot of rudeness and no availability. I found South Shore and booked an appointment online for the soonest available which was 3 days later. I called up and explained the situation and they were happy to squeeze me in the same day on a Saturday. Now I can’t say if I got lucky or if they did me a favor but I appreciated them getting in a new customer same day on a Saturday. The Staff were kind and were patient with Luke as he is still a puppy and made him feel comfortable at his first visit. Their pricing seems reasonable although I did not need anything major but the exam fee seemed okay. They answered all my questions as a new dog owner would have. I’m glad I found them and will consider bringing in our cat Pumpkin in as well as needed. Thank you South Shore Animal Hospital. We will see you again“

“I really like taking my cat to this vet! The staff are all really gentle and kind, the doctor is very knowledgeable. Its my preference for my vet to be a cat owner themself, so I appreciate that there is a cat guy in this office! “As a local veterinarian, I can tell you that Dr. Blauvelt sincerely cares about his patients and does his best to provide the best care possible, for both the patient and the owner. He is a warm, caring veterinarian who goes above and beyond for his clients. When you see reviews that he is in it for the $ - these people are sorely mistaken. Vet care is expensive. Overhead is extremely costly for vet practices. Dr. Blauvelt doesn't charge more than other practices in the area, in fact his costs are quite reasonable. Have you ever seen explanations of benefits from insurance companies? Medical care is super expensive, but people do not realize because of health insurance. Dr. Blauvelt is wonderful and your pet would be lucky to have him as their vet.“

“Nice to become aware that there is a veterinary acupuncture place with another means to assist beloved pets. Cost is high but then if it works when traditional methods are limited it can be worth the investment. Schedule appointment dates are 2 months out with hopes of a sooner cancellation availability. They have to place animals on a table e and hold them there while placing and using acupuncture needles standardly for 15 minutes. Dr. Nina did call back from left message. Office personnel did take input info. I’d been referred by a Periodontist near by. Had I known sooner I’d have tried earlier. Now, it’s trial and error prayers to see if it helps. If it does it’s a worthy effort for special pets.“

“Absolutely the best.Let me start by saying that I’m a crazy person who treats my dog like a human baby. I love her more than anything in the world. She also has terrible teeth, common to her micro-breed. (Little dogs = little teeth = tiniest bit of decay can destroy a tooth in a blink.)Dr. Surgeon and his assistant Maria are AMAZING. The office is small and intimate and so welcoming and warm. The technology they use is state of the art and the doctor even showed me how the various imagining machines worked, and he explained in detail what he saw and what he did. He was so kind and thorough and honestly— I didn’t think they made doctors like this anymore. He’s like someone from a totally different era; so wise and decent. He told me “I still do this because I love the animals” and that’s clearly true.Maria was also so warm and loving to my little dog and I could tell my pup felt truly comfortable and at ease with her. I was so nervous about having my dog’s teeth dealt with but Dr. Surgeon and Maria honestly could not have done more to put my mind completely at ease.DO NOT HESITATE to bring your dog here. And please note, anyone who has left a bad review (go ahead and read them) is complaining solely about money. Well; no, it’s not cheap to have your animal go under anesthesia and have complicated surgical procedures performed. That’s why there’s pet insurance. I’m sorry if it’s going to cost you a lot, but that’s not a reason to blast a truly gifted and deeply caring doctor. No one can possibly have anything bad to say about how their animal was treated here, because it’s impossible to imagine Maria and Dr. Surgeon reacting to any creature with anything less than total professionalism and love. So glad I found them and so happy to be able to return for cleanings in the future.“

“I have been using Bellmore Vet for just about 11 years. This is the best Vet service I have ever had. Dr. Kevin and his team are excellent. I like the fact that he is not an alarmist and always has answers as to how to approach an issue I may be having with my Dog. Nice girls at the front desk and good tech assistants. Parking in the front in limited but there’s a public lot right in the back.“

He is very thorough, thoughtful and systematic in his approach to treating his patients. If I had waited for a veterinarian ophthalmologist, I am not sure my dog would have healed.
