I chose Gentle-touch procedure for my MMS. I felt prepared mentally. On the day of, I was nervous but everyone was really nice and friendly. It took 2.5 hours from start to finish which was way better than the 6 hours I was told from another clinic. “For years, I unknowingly dealt with endometriosis, with symptoms primarily affecting my gastrointestinal system. The pain grew worse over time, but at age 22, I was dismissed by a doctor who attributed it to nothing more than hemorrhoids. Fast forward to age 37 [15 years], -- during a hysterectomy for fibroids, my surgeon noted what in his words was a ‘mild case’ of endometriosis. He advised me to do nothing about it and to ‘leave it alone’. However, my symptoms persisted, and after extensive research and a recommendation from a dear friend, I decided to see Dr. Seckin.

I requested that Dr. Seckin and his colleague, Dr. Chu, review my case. Dr. Chu immediately ordered the imaging and diagnostic tests I needed to determine the extent of the disease. The results showed that I had advanced stage endometriosis, that which, properly treated, would also require the expertise of a colorectal surgeon. Dr. Seckin and his team ensured that all necessary disciplines were on hand for my surgery. My surgery ended up being a 5-hour operation including a bowel resection. I’m writing this review almost 3 weeks post-op. Of course, recovery will be different for each individual, but in my case, with the exception of a mild allergic reaction to the surgical glue (which is rare) …. I feel great! The pain and cyclical bleeding that I was experiencing are gone.

Aside from Dr. Seckin’s medical expertise, the thing that truly sets him apart is his compassionate approach. I have a bit of medical trauma and PTSD. The anxiety of being in an operating room again reared its ugly head in the form of a panic attack. With my eyes filled with tears, Dr. Seckin held my hand tightly while lovingly and carefully addressing and easing my fears.

“I have about 10 years coming to this place, But this time around i came in as a walk in. I took me just about 10 minutes for my name to be called i was really impressed on how fast walks in are called i got taken care of real fast. I been to other places even to get results and it has taken me nearly 2 hours of waiting time. “Special thanks to Dr. Greenberg who helped me to deliver my baby naturally. Dr. Greenberg was very skillful and patient during the delivery process which took over 3 hours and gave detailed instructions regarding my treatments (low level of blood platelets and little fever) in time after my delivery. I also want to thank Dr. Rothstein who helped us the night before my delivery day. After the delivery, Dr. Khaitov and Dr. Calluzzo came in to ask about my condition and answered all my questions about my recovery and baby care. My only issue is scheduling with the office. For my last 4 appointments, 3 of them have been cancelled and needed to be rescheduled. So making an appointment isn’t easy. Also, sometimes they don’t answer the phone.“

“Kanzer, Daniel MDMount Sinai Pain Management Programan extraordinarily gifted doctor and someone possessed of the kind of empathy that is so rare (and so great) to find in someone as young as he... Dr. Daniel Kanzer, by virtue of his thoroughness, has quite possibly saved me from life in a wheelchair...taking over as my pain management doctor after my primary care physician of 30 years retired late year before last. we met each month and on one visit early last spring, he asked if my pain was worse and i said.."about the same, i think.." and he said, "well, your body language says something else, so lets get an MRI of your back, just to see... the MRI showed a problem and Dr. Kanzer insisted that i see my neurosurgeon (the same doctor who performed a laminectomy and a multi-level fusion on my lumbar spine 11 years ago) ASAP ... i did and was told that i had severe stenosis which had caused the buckling of my cauda equina nerve root, something that would require a major operation in order to avoid the almost inevitable eventuality of becoming permanently crippled by the severing of my spinal cord... i had the operation 5 months ago and was informed by both my surgeon and the attending physician from the spine center at NYU that it would be an intense experience with a long and unavoidably painful period of rehab that might take a year or more to heal...(they inserted two 15-inch steel rods from my sacrum to my mid-thorasic spine, replacing the extant apparatus in the process).Daniel has been with me throughout this ordeal, making certain that my pain has never been more than i can handle and , for this, i will be eternally grateful...i spent two months at in-house rehab and am now finishing my third month of out patient sessions...we have lowered the dose of pain meds from the extremely high level, i was on, for the first couple of months, post-op...back to the maintenance dose i was taking pre-op.
