“They say first impressions are everything. South Shore Animal Hospital has gained my trust. I am a new dog owner with a currently 6 month old Black Lab Mix named Luke. I had been looking to get established with a Vet and had been doing some research. But when Luke had some issues that needed attention I started frantically calling places to be met with a lot of rudeness and no availability. I found South Shore and booked an appointment online for the soonest available which was 3 days later. I called up and explained the situation and they were happy to squeeze me in the same day on a Saturday. Now I can’t say if I got lucky or if they did me a favor but I appreciated them getting in a new customer same day on a Saturday. The Staff were kind and were patient with Luke as he is still a puppy and made him feel comfortable at his first visit. Their pricing seems reasonable although I did not need anything major but the exam fee seemed okay. They answered all my questions as a new dog owner would have. I’m glad I found them and will consider bringing in our cat Pumpkin in as well as needed. Thank you South Shore Animal Hospital. We will see you again“

“As a local veterinarian, I can tell you that Dr. Blauvelt sincerely cares about his patients and does his best to provide the best care possible, for both the patient and the owner. He is a warm, caring veterinarian who goes above and beyond for his clients. When you see reviews that he is in it for the $ - these people are sorely mistaken. Vet care is expensive. Overhead is extremely costly for vet practices. Dr. Blauvelt doesn't charge more than other practices in the area, in fact his costs are quite reasonable. Have you ever seen explanations of benefits from insurance companies? Medical care is super expensive, but people do not realize because of health insurance. Dr. Blauvelt is wonderful and your pet would be lucky to have him as their vet.“

“I love this place,my only complaint is when I get to the front desk on our last visit,my heart dropped when I the receptionist said $320 and that is with insurance and discount.My fur baby had a slight infection in his 1 ear,I got about 6 tablets and a small bottle of thing to squeeze into his ear.Please tell us the price before..“

“Dr Tell is the BEST vet! He is well informed and is happy to answer my many questions, takes his time to examine my dogs and makes thoughtful recommendations. Dr Tell never suggests unnecessary visits, tests and treatments to make an extra buck, which I really appreciate (my previous vet was the opposite). He is also marvelous with dogs. “It would not be dramatic to say that one would have a hard time not only finding a better vet on earth, but also a better person. Dr. Hajdu is the embodiment of kindness, integrity and care. I have yet to leave his office without being inspired to be a better human being myself. He has been there for me and my 5 dogs through it all and has guided me through everything from knowing when it is time to let them go to welcoming new puppies. Dr. Hajdu brings dignity, grace and an incredibly knowledgeable and keen instinct to every visit and usually finishes off a conversation with a witty joke and existential sense of humor normally reserved only for the incredibly bright. To say a visit to his office is a breath of fresh air would be a gross understatement. I pray he stays in practice well into his retirement years because I cannot think of ever finding anyone better, or even close. “I have been using Bellmore Vet for just about 11 years. This is the best Vet service I have ever had. Dr. Kevin and his team are excellent. I like the fact that he is not an alarmist and always has answers as to how to approach an issue I may be having with my Dog. Nice girls at the front desk and good tech assistants. Parking in the front in limited but there’s a public lot right in the back.“

“Several months ago, my 12 year old Lab had severe discoloration around her right eye along with significant discomfort. Prior visits to another veterinary clinic had not been able to address the problem, but Dr. Datner was able to identify and treat the problem within one visit. He is very thorough, thoughtful and systematic in his approach to treating his patients. If I had waited for a veterinarian ophthalmologist, I am not sure my dog would have healed. “My horse, Prome, seemingly has made it his mission to show the world how amazing the Ruffian team is. Our Ruffian experience started in 2020 when my guy had to be seen twice in one year for horrible colic. The first colic was particularly scary yet Dr. Pigott and his team remained diligent and saw Prome through that, getting him well and finally able to come home. Dr. Pigott came to the rescue again in February 2023 when Prome required “dorsal spinous process surgery” for “severe thoracolumbar kissing spine”. Not only did Prome come back after that surgery but he absolutely thrived, moving the best he ever had. In fact, he did so well that we were able to do a hunter derby in late fall 2023 and planned to get on the show circuit this summer. Unfortunately, Prome’s body had other plans and he experienced another horrible colic at the end of June 2024, which was his first since his 2020 episodes. This time Dr. Mejia came to our rescue. Here again there were very scary moments, but Dr. Mejia and his team got my guy through it and well enough to undergo laparoscopic nephrosplenic space ablation on 07/02/2024. Prome has since recovered so well that you cannot tell he had any surgery at all! I don’t imagine I’ll ever be able to thank this group enough for what they have given Prome and me. They’ve brought him back from the brink multiple times now and kept us in the saddle. Beyond the exceptional medical care, I’m always so grateful for their level of communication, with the surgeons calling and texting multiple times each day to give updates. The entire team goes above and beyond, even to the point of grooming my guy each day and always welcoming me on my daily visits. While I always joke that we love seeing them but hope to not need them for another decade or more, I rest easy knowing they are down the road.“
