“Six years ago, I was stricken with a serious illness that left me completely immobilized. After being on a ventilator for three weeks, I lost all muscle capacity. Even sitting up for a few minutes in a hospital recliner was painful. As a result, I went through four weeks of in-patient PT at a rehab hospital just to gain enough strength to stand up into a walker. Eighteen months of out-patient PT then followed as I recovered from the illness. Then came Covid and, like many of us, I chose isolation out of fear of the virus. The inactivity that resulted from being home resulted in my becoming weaker again.Last July one of my doctors told me I needed to attend physical therapy. He could see I was weak and had issues with walking and climbing stairs. I reluctantly agreed to go to PT, saying that I'd try it for one month to see if it helped. You see, all of the PT I had after my illness never helped me to have a full physical recovery. I invested a lot of time at the previous PT Office and only received mediocre results. I asked my doctor for a referral and he directed me to Movement for Life ('MFL') in Hendersonville. My first appointment at MFL was on 8/25/23 and that day turned out to be a landmark day in my Life. It was the start of my return to full physical strength, full and complete physical independence and the gift of self-confidence I haven't had since the start of the illness six years before. If you really want great results and are willing to put in the work, MFL is where you want to be.Last Friday (4/12/24) I 'graduated' from MFL. My understanding of that term means that I achieved all of my goals. Notice of my graduation was truly bittersweet. On the one hand I know fully well how strong I now am but, on the other hand, I didn't want this remarkable experience to end. For me, every session there was a precious gift. I arrived for each appointment with a smile on my face and left with an even bigger one on my face. Many times I felt as if I could just float out of there. I was just so happy.MFL's facility is great and all of the staff is truly top-notch. Well-educated, supportive, encouraging, positive and even fun!In particular, I need to do a loud shout-out for Alina DeSousa, PT, DPT. Alina made it possible for me to succeed beyond my dreams. Alina coached me and watched me and challenged my abilities in every session while always believing I could do it! Because of Alina and our work together I, once again, have a full life ahead of me. No matter where life takes me I will never forget this blessed journey I've had at Movement for Life and with Alina.I wholeheartedly recommend Movement for Life in Hendersonville. If you begin your physical therapy journey there and you're willing to do the work, you can count on being better, stronger and a happier person on the other side - and, if you're like me, you'll wish it could go on forever.“
“It is not a stretch to say that Pisgah PT is great. They are efficient, friendly and competent. A special shout out to my two therapists Matt and Pam. I know they've got my back!“
“I have been going to Benchmark in West Asheville for over a year and a half now—first, with Tyler and then Kelly—for several issues that needed physical therapy. I cannot say enough about the enthusiasm, professionalism, and personal attention provided by these therapists. I started going there for serious neck problem—which was addressed and alleviated, and then later for rehabilitation after knee replacement. In between was some general neck and shoulder pain relief, including dry needling. I have been treated personally and professionally throughout, and truly look forward to my visits. Kelly could not be more engaged with her patients—she has a marvelous touch, literally and figuratively, with every single person. I cannot recommend her highly enough!“
“I can see good results in the few times I have been to pt. I expect to feel even better with the good care I get each time I go.“
“I'd give more than 5 stars if I could. This office is amazing. Everyone is exceptionally kind and knowledgeable. My PT, Jenna Justice, strikes the perfect balance of friendly conversation, treatment for my injury, and holding me accountable for pushing myself without a hint of shame.Highly recommended all around.“
“Dr.walt has helped me with my hip imbalances which I have had for years and gave me hope again. He also is very knowledgeable is some other very helpful fields like nutrition and mindset coaching which makes him a great source. He thinks a little different than your average PT and I appreciated that he isn’t just biomechanics.“
“Lawrence is a master intuitive body worker. He has helped me - a scoliosis warrior - realign and heal my body. He also sings as he works, which is sweet and soothing. Highly recommend!“
“(This update is a duplicate, don't know why it was in my drafts.) This is a update after having 2 surgeries from Dr. Maxwell. He is a excellent down to earth Dr. Not only is he a Great Dr. But he comes off as being a wonderful Man. He was very happy to hear how I was doing. I couldn't be luckier to have had him as my surgeon. Very good at what he does. Since my 2nd one I've had this year the last one was July 12th so he needed to do new x-rays and told me the screws he put in are doing great. I didn't know that the screws they use have holes in them to allow the bone to grow into the screw over time. The staff is always very friendly as well. I won't have to go back now for another 4 months to be checked again. If your in the Asheville area make sure you see him!!“
“This was my second opportunity with a partial knee replacement to experience the work of Maggie and her team in Fairview. Her helpful communication style, ability to diagnosis and prescribe the appropriate plan of action, and willingness to go the extra mile were a winning combination. I made excellent progress over the last twelve weeks and highly recommend SPT.“
“Just had my first adjustment. I desperately needed help. The staff have all been extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and caring. I’m looking forward to future visits!“
“This is what medicine should be like!
Can you believe they have a 4 in cushion on their x-ray table!!!! Awesome !!
Just last week had X-rays done on a very painful back. Cried with pain through the whole time. These little things are the hallmark of a practice that cares about their patients!
Now for Dr. Barnett. All I can say is that he is caring and knowledgeable. Really cares for his patients. I feel safe in his surgical hands!“
“Amazing experience. Marin, Jarred, Erin, Susan, and Jake all did an amazing job from start to finish. They were flexible on timing and pace and put up with terrible dad jokes. Great team.“
“Amazing response and excellent customer service. Also they know what they are doing for sure. I went in for Vertigo and they quickly diagnosed the issue and gave me a plan or recovery. I highly recommend AVORA to anyone looking for a solution to dizziness.“
“Great first visit with great atmosphere. Staff were pleasant and helpful and seemed to enjoy their jobs. Logan was a great listener, explained procedures and goals. I never felt rushed.“
