“Choosing AKKA Karate Independence for my child has been a game-changer. Besides top-notch martial arts training, they prioritize clear communication with parents and foster a supportive community among students. Highly recommended!“
“Class is good only downfall is parking space is limited. There are days me and Dakota miss class because I have no place to park ????“
“My grandson goes to Wilcox Karate Academy, he loves it and has been going for 2 years! Mr Wilcox and his wife, along with other instructors there are AWESOME!! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND for you to take your child there. I can't stress enough how great they truly are!!“
“My 11 year old son joined the academy the beginning of this year and we absolutely love it here. In these 4 short months he’s gained many marital arts skills and friendships with his classmates. Sensei Sanders and his family were welcoming from the first day. Definitely recommend Omega Karate!“
“Gracie Jiu Jitsu for the win! I just switched from Taekwondo to the Jiu Jitsu class and I am loving it. The people at the school and in the classes are great. My martial arts journey started here at 48. I would recommend this school for children (Master Coleman is wonderful with children) and adults. As a drug addict and alcoholic in recovery, it was a miracle that I found this school. I have to be surrounded by healthy people to recover. No complaints about Taekwondo classes, Jiu Jitsu was just a better match for my style (perhaps my wrestling and law enforcement background influenced my decision).“
“I would like to take a moment and express my gratitude towards Henrich's US Tae Kwon Do. My sister has made remarkable progress through their one-on-one and group training sessions. She has become more confident, outgoing, and focused, which is evident in her growth with each belt she receives. It has been an incredibly special journey to witness. I am truly thankful for the safe and nurturing environment that the academy provides, which has enabled my sister to develop a deeper sense of self-awareness and connect with others who inspire her.“
“Really fun beginner class with a friendly instructor. We went over basic moves, then did some choreography, then finished with some drumming and singing. I really felt like we got a history lesson and a full well-rounded intro to capoeira.“
“I recommend training with Maurice and Kali Combat training, Good teacher good training area practical training for survival in a dangerous world.“
“Wayne and all the teachers are great with the kids!!! Jiu-Jitsu will give your children exercise and help them with confidence!!“
“A great club that trains both Judo and Jujitsu and has both an adult class and kids class. They have instructors that still compete and have a lot to teach.“
“The best gym in the KC area to train at. The krav coaches are great and put you through a workout. You don’t have to worry about the “veterans” having egos or belittling you, they’re all helpful and welcoming. I’ve never been through a self-defense class in my life but after just turning 50, I feel so much better mentally and physically. Give them a try and you won’t be disappointed.“
“Our daughter has been going to Pruters for 14 months. It has been exciting to see her grow as a person and improve physically. The confidence that she has gained in class has carried over into her every day life. The older students are excellent mentors and provide excellent instruction. I really appreciate the family friendly setting of the studio and staff. After our daughter graduates the Future Kids she intends the continue her training in the color belt program. I highly recommend any of the Pruters studios. This is a response to Hoofleproof. Both her and her father did classes and I knew both. I thought both were good people. When in competitive TKD, unfortunately there are weight classes. My daughter struggles with maintaining her fighting weight and has to try to lose 3-6 lbs prior to competitions often. Never have I heard the instructors or other competitors say anything derogatory towards my daughter or each other about weight. Hoofleproof was not fight competitively, so there wouldn't be a reason for that to be brought up.Hoofleproof's skill level was not on par with the other students in the competition program. This is normal. It takes years to become a refined TKD competitor. With that said, Hoofleproof would get paired up with those with more experience. Please remember, this is the advanced class. The traditional classes are not as intense. Often students can become overwhelmed with this. This is normal. My then 7 yr old daughter went through the intense endurance training and sparring. She did well. These classes are different than traditional TKD. The students in these classes train extremely hard year round, for themselves, not because an instructor is making them.To any potential parents looking to enroll their children, don't let that review prevent you from joining. I have been attending classes for about 8 years, my daughter is going on 10 years. I've seen all different types of children come through those doors. I stand by my statement, if your child needs more confidence, more focus and to become more respectful, this is a great way to do so.My daughter will be testing for her 3 Dan black belt in early 2024.“
“I trained here off and on for 20 years, 14 hours a week since the age of 5. As a shy kid, this dojo taught me confidence, bravery, and to be ambitious. I proudly competed in all my tournaments under the name "Katzer's Bushidokan" in kata and kumite (sparring). This dojo taught me self defense against weapons of guns, knives, batons, bats, being attacked from behind, on the ground, and from straight on. Believing I was tough enough to fight at such a young age, my sensei allowed me to spar with the adults as a kid, as he would for anyone. I live in California now and when I come by for visits back to KC, I always join a class. It amazes me that Steve Katzer remembers all of his students. Even though I found an Okinawan dojo I now train at, Katzer's Bushidokan will always be dearly close to my heart. Thank you for everything that you do in your student's lives.“
