2.5 The Reason This Review Should Have Been a 5: I found a puddle of water on my crawl-space floor near where the pipe to the septic tank exits. So, I called Horton Plumbing, Etc. The next day, Eric & Sam came out and spent over half a day ($800) looking for the source. The immediate source was a clogged and undersized trap for the water softener; however, they also found that the pipeline to the septic tank was broken. The latter finding explained why I had had stoppages that had to be power rodded four times in the last four years. They said that the line had to replaced and that they would replace the trap at the same time. They would put in an estimate right away and I could expect service the next day (Friday) or at the worst Monday. WHEN THE CREW ARRIVED, Brett, Eric and Ethan dug an about 15-foot trench, removed the existing cast iron pipe, replaced it and the fittings to the crawl space pipe with a 2” PVC pipe. They also replace the water softener trap. These gentlemen were professional, very pleasant, careful while working and cleaning up. I am extremely happy with the work and the way it was done. The price ($3176) was reasonable, and their work deserves the highest evaluation. The Reason The Review Is Only 2.5: Note the capitals above. Although the estimate was submitted on the day the first visit was done, I heard nothing about it on Friday or the following Monday. When I called on Monday AM, I was told the estimate had been “misdirected”, but would be ready later. I explained that water was accumulating in my crawl space. The estimate was indeed ready later, and I would have to deposit half the cost, but the woman on the line could not set a date for repair. She would have to refer it. I paid and explained, pointlessly, that water was accumulating in my crawl space. On Tuesday, someone named Kelly explained that she needed signatures. I explained that water was still accumulating in my crawl space, and I needed repairs by Thursday or Friday as I had weekend house guests (my son and two 13 yr. olds up from Ohio for a football camp. Kelly was unimpressed. When I called on Wednesday, Kelly cheerfully told me that the repair could be made any day in the following week… at least 10 days after Sam and Eric had estimated the cost. I explained that water was accumulating in my crawl-space and I needed faster service. Kelly got official and said they couldn’t. I will have to admit that my language got salty. I apologized and do again, but frustration makes even good men do things they later regret. However, the only thing that I regret about my evaluation is that slipshod office work should reflect poorly on such fine professionals.
Jason and Ethan came out ASAP to assist me with a sewer line that was clogged. In an hour they fixed the problem (that another plumber didn’t want to/couldn’t deal with), cleaned up and were on their way. These guys were so kind, and pleasant, helping me with an awful situation and making me feel so much better without stress. 500/5 stars.
