“I just had to leave a review and thank the staff for their help. I sauntered in on Saturday after visiting two other opticians in the area to see if they could replace the nose pad for my THEO glasses. With each visit, I was asked to go somewhere else for help. These glasses are kind of specialized and unique. SHADES Optical happens to be a carrier of this particular brand and lucky for me, they diagnosed the issue before I even I took them off my face.The problem? A smooshed and unfortunately bent pair of glasses, no longer shaped to fit my face. To my complete shock, I had forgotten what they were supposed to feel like when properly fitted and simply went weeks (months?) wearing them at like 50% of the efficiency they should have possessed.The staff graciously (and helpfully!) took them off my face, replaced the missing pad, re-shaped and bent everything back into place, tightened the arms and polished them off in record time. Within 10 minutes, I was back in business — they once again fit amazingly and I felt a bit silly that I had gone on wearing them half crooked and falling off my nose. I wasn't even aware of my own pain, hah. The cost? No charge, just a desire to help another mildly-obsessed optical-person feel good again.We then chatted for a couple of minutes about a few other unique lines I had been looking for (which they carried!). While there, another customer walked in and dropped praise (a great sign) for SHADES. I promised them that I would be back to buy my next pair — with service this great, why not?Thanks a-million SHADES! See you soon. :-)“

“I recommend this place.It is a bit higher for the lenses ($122 at the store vs $82 online), but there is value:1. Diane has good taste, and she can help with suggestions for the right frames for the right face.2. You get to try the glasses on, and she has a good amount to choose from.3. If you buy two sets of lenses, the second one is half off.She can get lenses put into frames purchased from outside retailers. I purchased caviar lenses, and she does not have a relationship with them anymore. But, she was / is able to get the lenses into the frames that I purchased.“
“I feel terrible about my previous negative post concerning Optik. I've been a devotee for years because Amy and Kirsten know my tastes and strive to help me discover styles they know I will like. They also always make the best use of my vision insurance. Not only are they polite and gracious, but a visit has become an enjoyable experience. I can be an enormous pain in the posterior. I reacted childishly and with rudeness over a minor issue. Not as a cop-out, but SSDI awarded me disability for that honky thing between my ears and my emotional maturity of a six-year old. It's not like I dreamed of being a head-case any more than someone in a wheelchair would make that a goal. I over-reacted and I was wrong to publicly suck my thumb and pout. It's a terrific store with a terrific staff including Dr. Joe and the volunteer work he does to improve people's lives in Africa. A sincere apology is all I can offer at this point.“
