She’s super knowledgeable, listens to what type of cut/style I want, and offers helpful feedback. Their prices are reasonable. The cut comes with a wash, a cute scalp massage, and a blow dry/style. “I’ve had my hair lifted and toned twice here. The overall vibe of the salon is very relaxed, and very clean. No overcrowded waiting areas, very professional and friendly. I was pleased with my hair both times, the first time more, the second service, I asked for it grayish, silver, icy all the words I used, but I got a bright yellow blonde color. While the color came out extremely well, and I really like it. It wasn’t what I asked for, or needed for professional reasons. I waited for the big reveal and she says you’re definitely silver so I was super excited, but when we got to her chair I was like, this is blonde, no where near silver. We went back and forth, and she explained that she’d have to make it white to get to silver, which didn’t matter in the moment because you didn’t make it white to get silver. After all that bleaching and having an engagement to get to, I wasn’t going to over process my hair to attempt to fix it. Now I have to see what I can do before I go in the office this week. Maybe this color thing isn’t for me.. The lighter hair is from earlier this year, and the yellow blonde is from this weekend’s visit. Again both are stunning, but I work in a law office. I needed what I needed, and didn’t get it.

“I have been skeptical with having my hair styled for 5 years after countless negative experiences involving my hair.

But I let go off that fear to give RAD African Hair Braiding a try. I scheduled online with Rosine for cornrows a month ago and I couldn’t stop getting compliments. Rosine seemed to be a very experienced stylist with superb work ethic, technique, and above all: care.

For weeks I had strangers on the street asking me who did them and then insisting she did stitch braids. (she didn’t!)

So I simply HAD to return for my birthday style. I scheduled another appointment for cornrows which was only $60 last time for an amazing design and high quality work (which is nearly half of what I had seen for that style anywhere else in this area (let alone in the DMV as a whole).

The night before my appointment my friend and I convinced me into getting box braids instead of the cornrows to go all out for my birthday. I texted Rosine late at night close to 1AM asking if I could change my appointment and if she would be willing to help (keep in mind that my appointment is at 7am that morning). Rosine replied immediately with questions to help me decide on a style and helped me readjust so easily and quickly.

From cornrowing my natural hair to an intricate style involving cornrows, shoulder length braids with additional hair, she even blended the hair for me that I brought beautifully and even allowed me to incorporate beads.

Rosine went above and beyond, with her even giving me some of her delicious home cooked food during the appointment. Even her mother was there who assisted with my braids. She fed my mind, body, soul, and especially my hair.

Today is my birthday and Rosine, along with everyone at RAD African Hair Braiding, made it an unforgettable one.

Cannot recommend them enough, I’ve found a stylist and friend for life!
