Dr. Dunn is very clearly excited about his job and explains everything he’s doing and the context behind it (which I really appreciated). He’s super knowledgeable and this will make you feel at ease. I made my appt two days in advance but there were some even sooner! I decided to take a gander and made an appointment with Dr. Clark's office, on N. Washington in Old Town Alexandria.The examination was on time. The doctor seemed thorough. He listened to my concerns and addressed them in a professional manner. I will be going bak to Dr. Clark.Crystal optician is attached to the practice and convenient, if you need new prescription glasses. They have a decent selection of frames. Monica is obviously good at what she does. She was patient, friendly and also (very) thorough in finding, and correctly measuring and fitting me with the right pair of glasses and bifocal lenses. She took the time to explain the different lenses to me. She had my new glasses, both pairs, ready 2 weeks before I expected them.“

“I would recommend this office to anyone. I had something really painful in my eye and need to be seen immediately which my current doctor couldn’t do, so I was a new patient. The paperwork took no time at all. I was seen same day within two hours of calling. The doctor figured out my problem within 20 minutes of my exam and poking/proding around. (she didn’t literally poke or prod my eye) - she was very gentle. She dilated my eye so there was no pain. She then prescribed the right meds. I had a follow up appointment the week after and everything looked good. I’m switching to this office for my eye needs in the future“

“Dr. Ayalew is an exceptional eye doctor who goes above and beyond for her patients. I recently had an eye emergency on a Sunday night and emailed her, she replied st 5 am instructing me to come in first thing in the morning. I know she squeezed me in because I was unable to schedule the appointment online.Upon arriving I was literally greeted at the door and taken straight to the exam room. (I’m sure this isn’t always the case so I don’t want to build any unrealistic expectations, same goes for emailing on a Sunday night, but this was my experience today so I’m just sharing factual events) Dr. Ayalew thoroughly examined my eyes, patiently explaining the condition and answering all my questions. Her expertise and genuine concern for my well-being are always evident at my appointments.My insurance switched a few years ago and metropolitan optical doesn’t take my new insurance but Dr Ayalew is so good I go to her anyway and pay out of pocket, money speaks louder than words — this is greatest endorsement I could give any doctor.Over the past 25 years living in DC, I've consulted with several optometrists.
