“This is an old time no frills barber shop. The owner, Abel, is an older gentleman who has been cutting hair for years.I usually pick a day when I don't have a lot to do and just go there as a walk,-in as most of his customers do. He's the lone barber there although there are two ,barber chairs. There's usually a few people in there so I might have to wait sometimes. But I don't mind as I just pick up a magazine or watch whatever is on tv there, usually a Portuguese soccer game or Portuguese soap opera.If you haven't guessed yet Able is bilingual and speaks Portuguese and English fluently. I'm of Portuguese decent so going there I actually brush up on my Portuguese by watching TV or purposefully speaking to Abel in Portuguese.Like I said I don't mind waiting, in fact I prefer when I'm not next as I walk into the shop. I like to hear the chatter of the old men or the dad's with their sons waiting for their turn.As far as the hair cut goes, Abel does an exceptional job and is a bit of a perfectionist, and cuts my hair with ease and surprisingly fast.He always used hot shave cream on my neck and shaved it with a straight razor. Comes out smooth as silk.I've been to many other barber shops and salons but keep coming back to , Babaeria Portugal also know ln as Abel's baber shop for the quality of cut.,the old time atmosphere and incredibly cheap price.Did I mention it was only $14.My prior haircut was $30 in Swansea and it was ok but no shave, it took almost twice as long.and they were lax in covid precautions unlike Abel who wore a mask and kept mine on throughout carefully removing and replacing the straps as needed to cut my hair.You may not get all the line ups or other different cuts that some kids want, although I'm sure he is capable, but I guarantee Able will greet you with a smile, you can tell under the mask, and give you or your child a great cut at a great price!“
