Our home was built in the 1920s, and while it has beautiful moldings and charm, it needed updates. These guys were so respectful of the character of the house while making it livable for today. They carefully restored the moldings and added modern updates like recessed lighting and a fresh coat of paint that didn't feel out of place. They even worked around some tricky old wiring! The house feels both classic and refreshed. Highly recommend!

She is attentive to detail, knowledgeable, fun, informative and basically any other positive adjective you could hope for in a hairstylist! I could go on and on. She listened to my wants and made sure we were on the same page before getting started. She also made sure to explain each step, the products she used, answer questions and offer many tips! Money was well spent and I think her prices are very reasonable considering how pleasant she is and how hard she works to ensure her client’s satisfaction. I couldn’t be happier! SO happy with my hair! Solangel did an amazing job taking my discolored hair and giving me the exact color and look I wanted. She's so patient and thorough in her work! It's so hard finding a good stylist you can trust and I would absolutely recommend her. Ask for Essen. He not only goes out of his way but is a great conversationalist . I have been going to so many places around Medford/somerville and he was the only one who spoke quite a bit making me feel that the place is MY PLACE. It was clean and his willingness to know what i want was admirable. He made me feel at home right away. Now about the cut, he was bang on. He took time to understand as it was my first time and definitely tried his best to accommodate and explain the pros and cons before he cut. I loved the fact that he also corrected my understanding surrounding the fades and also lined my stach (a light trim) for free as he is a self declared perfectionist. Haha I am glad, i feel like i finally found my place for a haircut 5 mins walk from my home.
John is a master barber…very experienced, accurate, and detailed. He always asks how the customer wants his hair cut and then carries out the request with great care and accuracy. He is a very pleasant gentleman and the shop is clean, always in order, and comfortable. After finding John I stopped going to any other barbers in the area, and I have no intention of changing any time soon…only if John is no longer available, which I hope is never. I highly recommend this great shop and its master barber/owner. You won’t be disappointed!

I've never gotten acrylic nails before and stopped by on a whim before a comedy show I was attending. The woman (may be the owner) who did my nails was friendly, polite and patient with me. She took her time, a BEAUTIFUL job and made my vision come to life. The atmosphere was very inviting and I felt very comfortable through the whole appointment. Although, I do not live in the area, I would travel to come back and get my nails done here in a heartbeat!

Parking is easy and the people who work there are all good so you dont have to worry about who you get. They do a GREAT JOB and the nail polish seems to last longer for me than other places I have gone. Once they know you it feels like they will go out of their way to make the appointment you need. I just got back from a pedicure and HAVE DANCING FEET.... I wont take my DOGS anywhere but here from now on.....

I had a great experience with Jennifer at Lily's! I let her try something new (for me), chrome nails, and they are GORGEOUS. Jennifer was really sweet, she fixed up my previous acrylic set I received elsewhere and I love the work she put into them! The shape is great and she even cleaned up my ragged cuticles, which I feel like doesn't often happen when I go to other salons in the area. I'll definitely continue to come to this salon, they seem to have a loyal and sweet customer base and each person in the shop was so nice!

I travel just to come and see her for wax, neosculpting (Amazing prices) you can see results after 4 weeks and sometimes after two sessions!...she'll always be detailed with everything she does. I also come for hair and she will always have a one-on-one with you. I also get my lashes done with her every few months or so. She goes above and beyond for her clients. Marissa and Boston Brow Studio are the BEST! I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to get my eyebrows microbladed with her, it's been over a year and I couldn't be happier with how they look. She and her team also do an amazing job of setting your expectations of the healing process and how the color will vary before settling into its natural state. She makes the process fun, I was talking and laughing with her the whole time. I just returned for a quick wax (only $25!) and she remembered our conversation from a literal year ago - can't ask for better customer service than that!

I landed a last minute facial with Mandy almost two years ago when my family was out of town and I needed some pampering. I've been going monthly ever since! Her facials are incredible. She always customizes my treatments for however my skin is that day. The facial massages are AMAZING. And I leave positively glowing, with hydrated, bouncy skin. There is always metered parking available outside, and Mandy is incredibly responsive to communications and flexible with scheduling. Prices are competitive for the Boston area. What else is there to say? If you're considering an appointment, definitely book!

My boiler started to leak water at the air valve. I called several plumbers and got their answering machine or their answering service. I called Cotting and they actually answered the phone. They were at my house within an hour and took care of the problem quickly. I thought the price that they charged was reasonable. I will call Jim and Wayne for all my plumbing needs. Highly recommend.

We initially hired Puccio to install new electric panels and upgrade service to our home, and we were so impressed with the quality of his work and customer service that we immediately reached out when we needed additional work done on our house (rewiring).
For starters, when the inspector came he complimented the wiring. When I said who did the work he immediately said “checks out, they always do beautiful work”. Green flags!
Puccio’s communication, and ability to expectations in both budget and timeline are excellent.

I was working from home and they went above and beyond to minimize disruptions, were great guys all around, and always left the house clean and in good condition. Love Frank Duffy Floors. They have been in this family owned business for 100 years and they know exactly what they are doing. The current president, Chris, took my 1950’s home’s white oak floors and completely restored them. I have had nothing but compliments over the past 4 years.
Fast forward to my basement renovation: my white oak stairs aren’t to the standard of Duffy floors so I cashed Chris back out and he confirmed you suspicion and is fixing them for me.
The price was super good for the first job and is also amazing for the second job. The product is pristine and I haven’t found a contractor who partners with anyone who can compare to this tradesman!

I would highly recommend Kevin and his team for any project. The thing that sets Kevin apart from other contractors is his trustworthiness, attention to detail, and drive to make sure the customer is 100% satisfied.
Kevin took our Master bedroom, and transformed it to have an on-suite master bathroom. He was always in communication with scheduling, and when things in the field popped up that required any changes to plan, He always kept us in the know. He provided his expertise but allowed us to make the final decision to make sure we ended up with our dream bathroom. In the end, we got a perfect bathroom that came in right on budget!
Never once did I feel like Kevin was trying to take advantage or take short cuts which is always the first concern with any large projects like this. He was always available via phone, and still is even after completion! We cannot wait to get River City back in for the next project.

I have hired Kneeland several times over the past twenty years or so. Most recently, they did a large renovation of my moms house, including installing central air, installing new kitchen and master bath, re-routing dryer vent, installing 28 new windows, new gutters and more. In my home, they have done very big projects (raising the roof to create more interior space, adding a front foyer, etc.) as well as small ones. They've helped me out with little jobs that they probably don't really want to do, but since I am a repeat customer, we have developed a relationship. I have a woodpecker busy destroying shingles at the back of my house--very persistent devil--and although it wasn't dirt cheap, Kneeland did come to repair the shingles. Unfortunately, the woodpecker is back making new holes. Not Kneeland's fault, though. They are reasonable in price. I hired them to renovate my mom's house after her death, and the work came out great, though because of Covid, the job took longer. Carl's experience allowed him to make useful suggestions about various aspects of the renovation, in order to make the house more salable. I would not hesitate to hire them again and recommend them to others.
I hired Mitchell Design & Construction to gut and renovate my bathroom last August during Covid. I chose Everett over other contractors because of his innovativeness, problem solving, and professionalism. One example is I had an issue with my jacuzzi tub in that if anything went wrong mechanically I wouldn't be able to fix it without breaking down the wall my neighbors and I share. Everett was able to come up with a solution so that I can get to the motor without any hassle. Everett knew this was my only bathroom to shower in and he had the project done in 1.5 weeks! I thought I was going to have to live in a hotel for a month or so! Everett and his workers were very thorough, respectful (wore masks the whole time in a room without air conditioning), efficient, and clean. Even though it wasn't a huge project Everett treated it like it was, which I appreciated. His costs were very reasonable too despite the increase in materials these days. I look forward to having him do other renovations this summer! I highly recommend Mitchell Design & Construction for any home projects.

We called Thor Construction from a recommendation. Our roof had sprung a leak in a bad storm and Bill from Thor came out within an hour of my calling. He inspected it and told me the back, dormered portion needed to be redone. The rest of the roof had a good 4 or 5 years left, he said. He recommended rigid insulation, adding ventilation that was non-existent, and going with a rubber membrane.They did the work within a weeks time as promised and in one day! We checked out the roof ourselves and everything looked immaculate. They flashed the chimney up about 6 inches, and added all vents as promised. There was no damage or debris left behind either. The quote they gave was right on as well.Bill even did a drive by the next day to check it out--the only way I knew is that he called to say there was a piece of roofing that slipped onto the front of the roof that they had missed. He said he'd come by in a day with a ladder to get it down. Good follow up too.I'd definitely recommend them, and definitely use them again!

Dr. A is the best dentist EVER!! I have seen a lot of dentists especially since I moved to Boston 6 years ago and no one compares to her. I have had a filing and crown and both processes I haven't felt a thing. She makes you feel so comfortable and relaxed. She and Stan are very transparent, knowledgeable and run a great practice.
I broke the front tooth on my dentures and was really upset as it was extremely noticeable. I called and made an appt and they fixed them perfectly. You can't tell the difference and I can't feel the difference either. Amazing job.

I first went to Dr. Pourshadi with a stiff neck (hint: don't binge watch TV from bed!) which my regular doctor (and referred specialists) had not succeeded in correcting. Over a period of several months, he fully restored the range of motion in my neck, through a program of exercise and some spinal manipulation. He is very gentle (none of those surprise head-jerks some chiropractors seem to revel in) and is always caring and careful to explain what is coming. I have the highest recommendation for him. The practice also provides acupuncture and massage therapy. I have not tried the acupuncture, but have been very happy with the few sessions of massage which I have had. The office is accommodating when scheduling visits.
Amazing studio with incredible instructors! Highly recommend this local gem. I joined before my wedding to ease my stress and it became my favorite part of the week! The studio is cozy and clean. They have all the equipment you could need. The instructors are calming, encouraging, and knowledgeable. You can go at whatever pace you want and they always give alternative moves so all levels can participate. The community they cultivate is equally as amazing.

I get b-day gift cards to a really upscale massage polars and it always seem to be a waste of money because the quality of work just is not there. This place is absolutely worth it! My partner recommended Silvia because she had been working on her parents for 15+ years. She does amazing work and really gets those hard to reach areas. She caters your sessions to your specific needs and made me feel very relieved after. Highly recommend.

Effective - Andrew has real skill and intuition, and like good practitioners can lift up your health in addition to treating disease.
Efficient - this feels like a clinic in Taiwan, no private rooms, no waiting around, no upcharging. The quality of care is identical to so called 1on1 clinics, but beware you may be discussing private medical details in front of others.
Welcoming - affordable, and easy to book and cancel. Generous 3 hour cancellation window but full fee if you no show. Easy parking.
Cons - no unlimited option for those of us who like a week or two of continuous care.
I hope more American medical practices of all stripes can adopt a similar model.
Annjoné Goodridge is AMAZING! She has helped me so much with my insomnia, chronic migraines and GI problems. She has now left the practice so I cannot speak for the rest of the practitioners. I believe she is at Simple Good Acupuncture now. The one thing about Tai Chi is that it's very costly, however, I think they have a member program / deal that could be worth looking into. Clean space and friendly staff.
It’s true that Ed’s rates are higher (90 an hour), but you won’t get similar quality teaching anywhere else. Ed is very attentive and never looks at his phone while teaching you. He is very encouraging and nice, and my confidence in driving grew under his instruction. Thank you, Ed, for helping me pass my road test!
Evald is the best! I was a very nervous driver when I first started taking lessons with Evald. But he was patient, straightforward and very knowledgeable. Most importantly he cared. He makes sure you are aware, confident and he very quickly can judge exactly what in your driving needs to improve and will make you practice those skills in different streets. I have passed my driving test and I am so grateful for his lessons. Thanks Evald, thanks Patience Driving School.
