After going to Target Optical last year because I wanted Oakley glasses I found that I missed going to Noble Eyes because Target acted like they didn't care and were poorly trained. “If you're from Indianapolis, there's a pretty good chance you've heard of Dr. Tavel. Dr. Tavel has been a locally and family owned eye care chain since 1940. They have 24+ locations across Indiana. Dr. Tavel has been having some clinic days at my employer's health clinic. It's convenient, works well with my insurance, and is generally more affordable than most other options. I scheduled my initial appointment during a week they would be actually at my employer. The appointment was scheduled through my eye insurance, however, it was actually Dr. Tavel conducting appointments and Dr. Tavel staff and doctors. This part of my Dr. Tavel experience was probably the highlight. This person registering me in and handling the first part of the appointment was great. The optician explained procedures well and was super friendly. The doctor, Dr. Siddiqui, was friendly and wonderful about explaining what she did and what it all meant. We were able to order glasses on-site. The frame selection was pretty weak, however, I did find one frame I liked and went with it. Because prices were generally better, I was able to get all the bells and whistles including transitions. I was told my glasses would be in in 1-2 weeks. I was able to schedule pick-up at my preferred location. I chose this Pendleton Pike location as it's fairly close to my home. My glasses came in within the time-frame expected (right about 10 days). This location offers surprisingly flexible times. I originally planned to pick up my glasses on their later day, Thursday, but a mishap on my end meant I was showing up at 7:30am on Friday. Again, I love that because it means I can do what I need to do and still get to work on time. This is located in Esquire Shopping Center. There's some accessible parking nearby and the sidewalk is level to the ground. There's a single glass door, somewhat heavy, that leads into the lobby area. They were quickly able to get my glasses and adjust them to my liking. I'd swear these glasses are a bit different than what I ordered, however, I can't be certain (the color seems darker). That said, I do like them and wasn't overly worried about it. They provided a case and a cleaning kit - they noted that if I ran out of cleaning fluid I could bring the bottle back for more at no charge. They also do adjustments at no charge. This experience was maybe a little less personal than usual. I'm used to getting pulled up to a table and having someone really look and make sure the adjustments are good. This was more casual - a couple of adjustments, however, it just felt a bit more detached. That said, it did the job. Overall, this was a solid experience. In being the first customer of the day, I had undivided attention and probably benefited from it. Still, I'm pleased with the glasses and got a great price on them. So, I would call this a good but definitely not great experience.“
