The studio is clean and atmosphere is very orderly which is so important given the techniques taught could cause injury without proper supervision. The kids get ample direct supervision and Mr Eldred ( Professor Greg ) teaches a fair number of classes himself. All the instructors are great with kids. I've gotten more out of training here for a year than I did training for years at other martial arts places.They offer quality instruction in traditional Kodokan Judo rather than merely focusing on strategies for winning competitions. (We do also compete though and members of our club got gold, silver, and bronze at the State Championships recently.) Whether you're interested in Judo for self-defense or just as an artform, this is the place for you. There's also a great deal of emphasis on groundwork here. It's a relatively small club with a relaxed atmosphere.I've got a long way to go and lots of training ahead of me, but I'm confident that Virgil's Judo Club will help me continually improve both as a judoka and a person.“

“KTA Northwest is a family friendly Taekwondo dojang (school), lead by the knowledgeable and friendly, Grand-master Cottee. Most students are kids and teens, but there are several parents and their children who come to class together. Adult students are also welcome. All fitness levels are welcome, and each student simply does their best, improving at their own pace. There is no pressure to test for the next belt, and each student tests only when both student and Grand-master Cottee agree they are ready. There are several high ranking adults that help with classes to give students more opportunities for one on one and small group instruction. Introductory lessons can be arranged before signing up. There are no contracts. Classes are paid for month by month.“

I have watched him gain skills in how he moves and how he thinks. The focus is on character not competition. Even if he doesn't make it to black belt he has already gained skills that will last a lifetime. I highly recommend, especially for those kids that are been with live wire energy.“
