I lived in Manhattan for 27 years and tried out dozens of salons and hairdressers. All were recommended by friends or work colleagues. Prices varied from $300 to much less. I nearly always had a bob haircut. My hair is thick, straight and not difficult to cut---except for the people I went to.I never left any salon satisfied. Many times one side of my hair was quite a bit longer than the other. When I pointed that out while still in the chair, the person who cut my hair actually disagreed with me. I only go to Evelia for my haircuts, after the first time I went there I knew I would be back. She does a great job and is one of the nicest people I know, been a loyal customer for years.
