They have inter-generational housing, the elderly and young people; they provide services for the elderly, whether or not they reside in one of their residences. They have vans to take people shopping, socializing, etc. Check their web site.
I didn't know H.O.M.E existed until my alumni association volunteered one Saturday afternoon. This organization provides home improvement, repairs and moving services for the elderly. It's a great cause. We spent the afternoon winterizing a home. The family that lived there were so grateful and a complete joy to be around. When we arrived at their offices one of the directors gave us a mini history of the organization and how they help the elderly community. They provided a quick tutorial on how to complete our project (we were sealing drafty windows). The equipment and supplies were already at the home. Our group drove over and got right to work. The director even stopped by to see how we were doing and visited with the elderly couple to see if there was anything more they needed. H.O.M.E is a great organization.
This agency helps the poorest of the poor -- like one lady who is raising her two granddaughters and gave them the sleeper sofa while she slept on a 40 year old mattress on the floor. HOME gave her a bed and many other household items they needed. And like the 350+ seniors in public housing who can't drive but get a ride to the grocery store twice a month. And like Mr. K, who lost everything he owned in an apartment fire and had no savings. HOME helped him find a new place, gave him a whole apartment full of furniture, dishes, linens, and moved him in for free. PLEASE Donate time, items or money today at www. homeseniors.org
