Santander Bank is my mortgage company. When I closed my escrow account, they reimbursed me the remaining balance of $2421.04 via check. I promptly deposited the check into my TD bank account and less than 5 days later found out that it was a bad check. After making multiple calls between Santander mortgage company and Santander bank locations, I was able to find out that JPMorgan Chase was the issuer of this check, and that they are the 3rd party Santander goes through for such things (as that is who owns them commercially). I am told that I have to now reach out to Chase to see what can be done - since they were the issuer of said check. I go to a Chase branch and am told they cannot recognize either the routing or account numbers (although my quick Google search came up with Chase Bank via the routing number provided on a check). Indicated that I need to go BACK to Santander to have it resolved. Something is wrong with this picture. Not only is someone illegally keeping my funds, but they are committing fraud via bad checks. At this juncture, NO ONE wants to step up for this issue and I am out of $2421.04 right after Christmas.
Don't bother going to the currency exchange here. Long lines, poor attitudes, lack of resources. How a bank of this size doesn't have most major currencies is beyond me. Save yourself a trip and try somewhere else.
Oh, where to begin... I turned the other cheek when Chase stopped taking coins a while back. No problem, I'll just pay the Coinstar fee, I suppose. Then Chase started closing down many branches, putting many people out of work and further inconveniencing me. Still, I put up with it, even though I come from a family of bankers and saw them suffer multiple layoffs over their careers. I feel my time with Chase is soon coming to an end this time. It's not just the long lines at the branch or the fact that they use people who don't understand English at their call centers. Chase used to be so good when I first opened my account with them over 10 years ago. What happened?? Well, they no longer care about fraudulent charges on customer accounts anymore. Strike 1 was when a home warranty company scammed me. Strike 2 was when Comcast was double billing me from 2 bank accounts. Both times, they took the money from the fraud right back out of my account, costing me even more money and frustration. Well, here we are at Strike 3, which they only have a few days left to rectify. I am literally out of patience with them at this point. This was over a 600 dollar charge for something that was not delivered. I even went to a branch to have them fax photo evidence to their so-called claims center only to find out days later that they never received the fax. No problem, I'll just go to a fax center and get a confirmation on the fax. I mean, I have already wasted many hours of my time on this. I should bill them my hourly rate for wasting my time. Let me tell you, the young kid in his early 20's at the fax center was far more competent than the Chase employees. So once again, Chase has my money tied up (this has been ongoing for months), and it is becoming too costly to do business with them at this point. I am tired of the "suprise" of having fraud charges reversed constantly. I just fired Chime for this a few months ago. I really hate when you are on hold for 20 to 30 minutes and have to hear their "hold recording" state that they care about my business when clearly they do not!! After reading the reviews, I see that I am not the only person they are screwing over by allowing fraudsters to just keep the money they steal. I wish Chase would just stop wasting my time...
