Adel is one of the best stylists I’ve ever had. Many stylists cannot get layers and face framing done well no matter how clearly I try to say what I want (which is pretty simple). I tell him simply what I want and he gets it perfect with little explanation needed. He’s fun to talk to and also just lets me exist if I don’t feel like talking. Ten out of 5 stars!
I have been coming to Adel's since the first few days I lived in Chicago in 2000. It was the closest place to get a haircut to my apartment, and happened to be in a spot that was near a diner (now Yolk), and one of my favorite places to drink (Galway Bay). Adel and Lee have been there since I first started visiting 21 years ago. It seems like yesterday. Back in 2004 when I moved away for 18 months, I still made it a point to try and come back when I needed a haircut because Lee knew what I liked, and kept me happy. I'm not very finicky about my style, but the service here is top level. I see Adel is always servicing both women and men- high end hairstyles and coloring, etc. In a pinch when my brother was getting married, he cut my hair gratis since it wasn't really grown out. Such a kind gesture. On a side note, my brother moved from NY to Chicago and started going to Adel's as well. He no longer lives in IL, but still travels here when he has business in order to get his haircut just the way he likes as well. I am not here in town as often, but I make it a point to come in and get either a haircut or a pedicure- it's important since I am a Type 2 diabetic that I keep my feet in good condition, and the occasional visit here is so relaxing. This is a private, small owned business. In these difficult times you want to support these places, especially with the shutdowns and restrictions. They have adjusted to make the customer feel safer. I suggest giving it a shot if you want to try something new. I've brought many friends (men and women) here and Adel and Lee have always come through. I would be remiss if I didn't mention Lena, who is now retired. She was always kind, but very quiet. I hope she enjoys her retirement.
I love coming for haircuts and blow dry to Adels' salon. He is an expert and knows my hair type very well. I have done a keratin treatment with him as well and it was very good, it left my hair feeling soft, shiny and cut my blow dry time in half! This salon is a gem in the city and I could never trust anyone with my hair after coming to this salon. Thank you Adel and team!
